Farm to table. Wonderful. Simply wonderful. Daughters choice for a healthy alternative. Vegan corn and potato soup was over the top and the grilled cheese was to die for. Note to self: next time order two! The mushroom pot pie was fabulous. We love Chelsea Market and we love The Green Table…
I went here the other night for the first time for dinner. It's a cute, tranquil restaurant settled in the craziness of Chelsea Market, and the service was courteous and mostly attentive. The menu was rather limited, likely due to their premise of using fresh, local ingredients, but it had a good mix of vegetarian and meat options.
After seeing pics of delightful looking mac n cheese on Yelp, I was disappointed to discover that it's only available at lunchtime 🙁 Thus, my friend and I opted for the pot pies — one chicken and one veg. Both were awesome, with lighter, flavorful filling than more traditional recipes. Also, for the lushes out there, they have happy hour prices on select drinks from 4-7pm on weeknights (e.g., $7 for a glass of wine). Overall, great food but a little more expensive than the usual "$$" rated restaurant.
This review is based on the pot pies we ordered for dinner and the service.
The Green Table is a small restaurant located in the middle of the Chelsea Market. My friend and I came here to try out their pot pies, which were a lot smaller than I had expected for $18-21 (each). They offer chicken and mushroom, both served with a side of salad. The soup inside the mushroom pot pie was thicker and creamier than the mushroom. I loved both, especially their flakey crusts, but they taste like the ones I used to buy frozen from the supermarket and heat up in the microwave for 2 minutes (and they cost a whole lot less).
Service was great though, the guy was really friendly and showed us their happy hour menu. Might come back for their cider but the pot pies were a disappointment.
My awesome coworkers brought me for here for a birthday lunch. We had a pear salad and Mac and cheese to start and as a main, I couldn't pass up the chicken pot pie. Mac and cheese is delicious! And the pot pie was a big portion. I couldn't finish but the dish was very good. Nice crust on the pie and the filling wasn't too soupy or creamy.
Very fresh, delicious farm-to-table dining. Located inside the Chelsea Market, which adds to the charm. Service is terrific too.
The portions are not huge. So be prepared, especially if you want to share. We had a nice paté, pot pie and a beet salad. All good.
Go early. I had dinner there around 5:30/6pm. It was quiet, and we had the staff's full attention. But by 7 pm, the place was packed!
We went here with some friends with not much expectation. We had a very pleasant surprise. We were two couples with two kids. So they seated us outside (probably for good reason). I ordered steak that I loved and really would like to go back. Children got pasta at special request (very accommodating). Overall great place to visit.
Trying to decide where to eat in the Chelsea Market is overwhelming. There are so many places, and most of them are highly reviewed or smell delicious. We ended up at the Green Table because they didn't have a wait and they did have seating….not a good reason, I know, but it turned out great! They have a special with a specialty grilled cheese and a soup. The grilled cheese was amazing! It had amazing melty cheeses with tasty chutney and fresh crispy bread… wonderful. The soup of the day was an asparagus gazpacho…. I don't love gazpacho, and this one was no exception. I feel like the soup would have been very enjoyable warm, but it was just ok cold. Regardless, I was happy with the food and would return.
Farm to table kinda of restaurant. Get the chicken get the chicken get the chicken. Important side notes need to be repeated three times
