Hands down one of the best sushi spots on Staten Island. I find the fish to always be fresh and I really enjoy the originality of the rolls they offer.
One of my favorite places for sushi on Staten Island, my personal reason for going here is the consistency of the quality of fish and sushi rolls.
Black pepper tuna special for an appetizer is a hit with me. The sea world and under the sea special rolls are my personal favorites, the special sauces they come with are so good !
The staff is always super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this spot.
My brother and SIL clearly have been paying attention to my eating habits back home because when they rescued me from having to have dinner with my parents after being gone for over ten years they both agreed nothing would make me happier than a good fresh sushi dinner. They were right.
After I white knuckled the car ride over to their house in Staten Island, my brother kindly took over the wheel and drove us here. It was a little after 8pm on a Monday and the restaurant was fairly empty.
Our server was very attentive and allowed us ample time to review the menus and place our drink orders. Apparently we had not eaten in years as we placed quite the order.
For appetizers we ordered:
Sushi Pizza – I was pretty impressed with this dish. The "pizza" was served with salmon and tuna over a crispy pancake with tobiko, some scallions and what I am pretty sure was cheese. While this sushi pizza does not compare with my favorite sushi pizza at Morimotos, I will still give this 3,5/5 stars.
Yellow Tail with Jalapeno – This was my favorite. The Yellow Tail was sliced perfectly and the ponzu sauce was not over powering. The jalapenos were sliced just thin enough to provide the right amount of heat and balance to the dish. 5/5
Rock Shrimp Tempura – This dish reminded me a lot of the Bang Bang Shrimp that you can get at Bonefish Grill. Simple and tasty. 5/5
Crispy Duck Salad – This dish was really good as well. The salad was served tempura style with spicy mayo and hoisin sauce. My only complaint was that you could not really taste the duck in all of the rolls. 3.5/
As if the appetizers weren't enough we all ordered some rolls as well:
Sweetheart Roll – Beautiful presentation. I enjoyed the flavors of this roll.
Hawaiian Roll – I was not a fan of this roll. The roll stated that there was mango in the roll however I was not able to taste the mango and felt that the wasabi over powered all the other flavors in the roll to include the fish.
My SIL ordered the Sea World Roll which I did not try and the Sexy Lady roll which was delicious.
My brother ordered three rolls which I do not remember the names of.
We also ordered the fried bananas with ice cream for desert which were lick the plate good.
Would definitely come back next time I'm on this side of the world.
Great service and everything is always fresh- doesn't get much better!
Came here for lunch on Sunday. I was kinda feeling sick and after reading one review about getting a food poisoning I decided to stick to mostly vegetarian food here. I ordered tom yum soup, avocado salad. My husband got tuna roll , yelp tuna and mackerel. Over all the food was good. Avocado salsa was very fresh and delicious. Tom yum is very spicy but that's what I needed for my throat! Tuna roll, yellowtail tuna and mackerel were fresh and good. The rice used for sushi had a perfect texture. Loved this place. I will go here again.
Hubs and I came here after we found our regular place was insanely crowded. The service was superb! Very attentive, but not stalkers. The sushi was just ok. It was a little strange about the almost total silence of the place (no music), that is until two families with screaming small kids came in, and one family with a very bubbly and loud teenager came in. I probably won't come back on my own. It wasn't terrible, just ok.
It seems that the good sushi places are pretty much hidden. This sushi location is in a small plaza next to a gym and nail salon. I cant tell you the decor because we ordered out since its the typical Sunday lazy wanna cuddle and snuggle with your love one type and enjoy some wine and catch up on great shows since there always on Sundays!!!
I ordered the Philadelphia roll and a avocado salad the ginger dressing was so GOOD! By far the best one I tried. My bf got a coupe of different fancy rolls called Godzilla, Dragon Rolls (sounds like his personalities, lol) and a typical spicy tuna roll and of course a kani salad !!! NEVER CHANGES, surprised he hasn't turned into a crab because he's eats like its this like its his daily vitamins.
The sushi was really fresh and I enjoyed every piece but I cant get over that ginger dressing! You must try this place and don't drive too fast cause you will miss it inside the plaza and its a busy avenue also cant just be popping u turns or going down streets to come back up cause there's no space or time for that! But if your waiting in the parking lot you can enjoy some wanna be "gorillas" walking to the gym or out and making loud moans/grunts or having loud convos about how jacked up there are and getting ready for the Jersey shore! HAHAHA so you have a small little comedy show while you wait for your food.
The sushi here is unbelievable! I like everything about this place and tonight I decided if I could I would give it six stars. They have a lot of different special rolls. Some of the rolls have lobster, while others have mango and so many other options. The angry dragon roll and paradise roll are both winners. The Hawaii roll is a tasty medley of fruit and fish. The options are endless and everything is delicious! The service is impeccable. Tonight my car was hit while parked in the lot and the man, maybe owner, brought my friend and I umbrellas as we waited for the police. Also he kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. Talk about good service! After my first visit this became my go to sushi spot. I come here whenever I am craving tasty sushi and time to catch up with some friends.
