I came here as a vegan because a lot of other reviewers mentioned the extensive offerings for people with plant-based diets. Come to find that the sandwich section doesn't open until lunchtime, which was what I was in there for. Not having time to stop at another cafe, I ordered a 12 oz. peach-lychee smoothie with bee pollen as an add-on that came out to around $6.
The employee asked me what my order was and didn't let me finish before ringing me up. The add-on ended up having to go on another receipt, and even though it was clearly her fault, she looked a little annoyed that she had to ring me up twice.
The smoothie was not good – tasted bland in a watery way, with a lot of ice. The smoothie area was pretty crowded with people placing orders, so maybe the regulars know the better smoothies to be ordering?
Either way, if I'm ever back in NYC, I'll be going to a different cafe.
1.5 stars
Not my favorite vegan meal on our NYC trip, but it was a good spot to pick up lunch if you've got somewhere to eat it. I thought Atlas Cafe was pretty small, then we stumbled on the aptly named Little Atlas. Polished off a vegan BBQ sandwich without complaint followed by a tasty Vegan Treats dessert.
For being such a tiny place, they seem to have a pretty extensive menu to choose from. Good enough to grab a bite if in the area, but not worth a special trip.
I came here because I wanted to try something else during lunch other than going down St. Marks.
I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was okay.
It is kinda odd they microwave everything, but I don't blame them considering the place is really just a hole in the wall.
I've been here several times. Small shop in the wall but you can walk in to order.
Great sandwiches and lots of vegetarian options, in fact I thin it's mostly vegan.
BTW their $3 vegan cookies are amazing, I like the choco-chip especially.
Literally a closet-sized shop, Little Atlas has some of the best vegan options around. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced, especially on s student budget! One if my favorites is the vegan BBQ chicken sandwich, as a panini on multigrain bread. The service is quick and the sandwiches and flavorful, very yummy and healthy. I will definitely be back here all the time. The cookies have been calling to me…
I've only come here for coffee and pastries so far. This place is super tiny and can run out of baked goods depending on when you get there. The coffee is pretty good and they make it quickly. They also deliver, I've ordered coffee and snacks from here while in the area before.
The vegan whoopie pies are awesome, they're my go-to treat. Huge and very soft, they taste fresh and you can choose from pumpkin or chocolate. I do want to try their sandwiches, they have a ton of vegan and vegetarian options. The sandwiches seem a little pricey though, $7-8 so I haven't convinced myself to pick one up yet.
Couldn't leave without their Death By Chocolate- it looked so tasty! Boy was I disappointed. They must have used peanut butter in the frosting. The cake to frosting ratio wasn't even, the cake was tough, and lacking in chocolate flavor.
I've had better vegan desserts at Red Bamboo- now, their Death By Chocolate is really so good you'd be forgiven for mistaking it for being otherwise.
Incredible little hole in the wall right by the NYU campus. The staff is always extremely friendly and they have a great selection of wraps, sandwiches, etc.
I ways opt for the whole wheat peanut butter bagel ($2), but I've had a few of their wraps as well and I have yet to be disappointed. Additionally, their vegan cookies are INCREDIBLE. A bit on the pricey side ($3.25?), but they're huge and they taste amazing. I love the chocolate chip, oatmeal banana, and peanut butter.
A great place for a quick lunch! I highly recommend!
