This was a local favorite haunt back in the day. But I can't keep up with the name changes. Ha
First note: this is a hole in the wall Chinese food joint. Prices can go from cheap to over priced if you don't know what to order.
My favorite dishes are usually the rice dishes with the meat of choice on the side. Today, as always, the crispy skin pork was very good but I think they made the portion smaller. At least the pieces were cut smaller. I don't recall them being so stingy.
I also ordered one of my all time Chinatown style comfort food dishes, which is a beef entrée with runny egg. Present company dictated we order fried dumplings and steamed ones. Both were good but the fried ones were salty.
I'd recommend this place if you want cheap eats and fast. But the decor and rest of it's charn is left to be desired.
Years ago this use to be a Wing Wong which had great roast pork and wontons. Sadly I returned to this place and discovered the change but still gave the it a try. The restaurant itself was empty (weekend afternoon). Also it was dark and old looking. I ordered a beef tendon noodle to go (broth in separate container) and it was $5.75 which is fair. I ordered in Cantonese which I'm sure helped. The food itself was ok. Not terrible but not great. Portion size leaning toward the small side. Looking at the menu it looks like the target demo is now tourists given the photos and English on the menu with "combination" plates. Also the dimsum looked expensive. $5.25 for shu Mai?
Another nice Chinatown taverna introduced to me by mandatory jury duty. Love getting here before noon, grabbing a quick lunch special (duck and rice ran under $6), and being on your way in 5 minutes or less. Not much in terms of decor–typical Chinatown everyday dimsum/family joint.
Mom and I were in NYC and came to Chinatown for shopping and lunch. Found this little place on Yelp and decided to check it out. We were able to be seated right away and got our drinks and placed our order. I find a lot of places in NYC are quick with their service so they can turn tables and keep things moving, no worries I totally appreciate that! I had chicken and vegetables lunch special which came with rice and egg drop soup. Mom got the spicy orange chicken and egg roll. We also ordered 2 extra egg rolls since I wanted one too. The egg drop soup was pretty thin and didn't have much taste, also no crispy things to put in it like I like. Our entrees were both very good and really fresh. The egg rolls were pretty good too. Also when we left they were nice enough to fill our cups we brought in with ice and water 🙂 I would recommend this place for sure for lunch. There seemed to be a lot of locals in here which is always a good sign to me. Prices were really reasonable too!
