Cute trendy authentically Greek coffee and pastry shop with moussaka, salads and meat pie or vegetable pie or squares and lots of delicious GREEK pastries.
They have my favorite GREEK style cold coffee I had in Greece with ice and cream.
The mousaka has a nice be hazel sauce on top. A big piece for an affordable price.
My favorite desserts (with an S) are the pecan lace with chocolate and the almond thin cookies. Crunchy and delectable.
For true Greek pastries, I like their cheese pastry, custard squares, orange baklava, crumbly walnut cookies, and pistachio baklava.
I like eating outdoors when the sun is setting.
Their homemade Greek yogurt look like whipped cream – I plan to have that next when I return.
I love this place. Not touristy.
This bakery has probably the best eye appeal I have ever experienced. Everything looks amazing and fresh. The open airy seating area and cabinets of yummy treats drew us in.
Taste wise, the results were a bit more inconsistent.
We had:
– pistachio baklava – the hubby liked, I didn't
– Athena wedding cookies – dry
– Greek wedding cookies – dry
– original baklava – excellent – I wouldn't expect any less of a greek bakery
– Greek coffee – delicious
– Honey Swirls – looked a lot better than they tasted. They had a weird aftertaste.
– Chocolate Florentine – tasty
The yogurt and rice pudding looked delicious as did the salads and sandwiches. I would probably pop in again for the regular food vs. the desserts.
After a quick lunch at Sunrise, I spot this bakery nearby to grab a latte. My daughter was also in the mood for sweets. The service was super attentive and friendly. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff. She helped us with our order even though it was self-serve for the cookies. We end up getting 1/2 lb. of cookies- Athena's wedding, dark chocolate florentine, greek wedding, melomakarona, pistachio baklava mini, traditional baklava, and other recommendations from the staff. We also had a large latte. They gave us samples of a cherry pie that was pretty good.
It's a quiet cafe with cute seating. While we were waiting for the latte, my daughter sat in the corner with the pillow cushion. She loved watching through the window. The cookies were delicious and fresh. Our fav was the baklava, melomakarona, and greek wedding (shortbread). If we known it was that good, we would had end up getting a full pound. Even so for 1/2 lb, we got to sample a lot of the different varieties as there are about 20 different selections. It was packaged and wrapped in a little white box. The latte was ok but the sweets really got us. Def will return to try other items and more cookies!
Tucked into a street nook in Soho, this Greek bakery is great. The place is pretty small, with just a few tables and limited seating outside.
When you walk in, they have desserts mostly on the left side (baklava, assorted cookies, etc.) While it is under glass, I have seen some flies around, though it must be hard to keep them away from the sweet flavors. I really enjoyed the baklava.
They also have savory stuff ("pi") on the right side under heated lamps, such as moussaka, meat pi, etc. The spinach and kale pie was very filling even though it didn't look like a huge huge piece and very tasty. The platters come with a pi and small helping of salad + grape leaf ($13 total). The grape leaf was rolled very tightly.
Their signage isn't the greatest, as I didn't see a listing of all their pi's; they had a chalkboard in the back but it was obstructed.
I haven't tried their coffees and teas but assume they are good as well. The servers were pretty nice. I would definitely like to come back and try more of their savory pi's.
Pi is a cute little Greek bakery offering lots of little Greek goodies. The pastries are placed within a large sideboard, inside a sliding cabinet and some in drawers. I picked up some cookies and baklava. I devoured the PISTACHIO baklava. You order by the pound, which i believe was $9.25 per 1/2 lb. Probably not the most cost effective, but when you get just a few pieces, its not too bad.
They also offer lunch options including various "Pi's", salads, stuffed breads/sandwiches. I ordered the green harvest pi, which is fyllo dough stuffed with kale, leeks and feta cheese. It was delicious and satisfying and perfect for lunch. A large square portion is under $10.
The cafe has indoor seating and a few tables outside. The place is bright and airy and for me was like a little oasis from the daily grind.
Walking around SOHO, cold afternoon (like 45F), looking for a place to have some delightful coffee and sweets. Two blocks from our hotel we found PI, and decided to give it a shot. What a surprise!
The Mocha Coffee was excellent, it had this "attention to details" taste, not overloaded with excessively sweet chocolate, just perfect balance between all ingredients.
On the left wall they have compartments with a multitude of sweets and desserts, just grab some thongs and and pick as many as you like. From Baklava to Diples (Mediterranean desserts).
I had a Dark Chocolate Florentine and my wife had the Galaktoboureko (Milk Pi), both excellent.
Service was friendly and attentive, prices average for NYC.
Recommended!
"Pi" for a Greek bakery? The name in itself gets a star… but more seriously everything seems wonderful on display and what was taken home was just as good as it looked.
A real game-changer in my lunch delivery range!
I found Pi Bakerie via Seamless while scrolling through in search for savory, mostly healthy meal. While it takes a bit longer that most joints in the nearby area the product is certainly more satisfying. I've yet to receive anything off their menu that has disappointed, even with the slightly inflated price points. While a bit different from what I'm used to, the spanakopita is delicious, served in a more doughy circular pastry. Their Greek yogurt is fantastic as its that rich and pure Greek yogurt that's too difficult to find at local groceries stores but is seldom served in restaurants. The zucchini pie was a tad watery but had great flavor. Hummus is super garlicky and rich (in a good way).
Conclusively, a great spot that I'm super happy to have discovered and to recommend!
