“Price is a little bit expensive, but it's the best Szechuan food I found in UWS”

“This is an amazing addition to the Upper West Side where most Chinese restaurants are of the horrible Empire Sichuan variety.”

“The food was faithful to to flavors of Sichuan, while being localized to the tastes of New Yorkers.”

  1. Hot pot in the UWS? SCORE! My friend, his gf, and I came here for dinner because another friend recommended this place to us. For $30 a person, it is AYCE hot pot (excluding shrimp). They provide 2 broths, spicy and regular fragrant. The spicy one was spicy since it was filled with szechuan peppercorns. The regular broth wasn't that flavorful. It's cool how the place is AYCE for hot pot. THey come by and fill the pot with more water when necessary.

The servers also come by and ask if we want any addition veggies, meats, seafoods, etc..

This place is okay. It's not great, but for the UWS it does serve its purpose.

  2. Went for lunch and two of us had Hot & Sour Soup, Cold Sesame Noodles, & Shrimp Dumplings. Soup and dumplings were good but the noodles were exceptional, just the right amount of spicy kick.

Lot's of interesting things on the menu to try.

Legend 72 is clean, service quick & friendly, and the price reasonable.  A solid option if you find yourself in the area.

  3. Pretty impressed by this place and so happy that it's within walking distance because I'll be back here again.

Despite this place being a bit pricey for me (as a student), the food and portions are amazing. Here's what I picked up:

Mapo Tofu (4): Great sauce, and just the right amount of spice. Probably could be a tad spicier, but it was pretty delicious and perfect.

Szechuan Double Cooked Pork (4): This dish was wayyyy oily than it should be but the pork was so flavorful that it was my favorite dish. Just becareful though, you might gain about 2 lbs just from eating this… and sweat oil out.

YangZhou Fried Rice (4): GOOD GOOD GOOD! Great portions and fairly authentic.

Thank you Legend restaurant, for existing near me.

  4. Decently portioned and tasty Szechuan food in the area.

Stopped by late with a friend on a Saturday evening, and the place was sparsely populated. We ordered the scallion pancakes to start, and they were okay. As entrees, we split the cellophane noodles with pork and the szechuan beef with cabbage. They were both pretty good; the noodles were pretty good but could have used more pork, and the latter dish was very spicy and humongous but also was a bit lacking on the meat as well. Overall, the dishes were decent although not the best I've had, but I wouldn't mind coming back here for Chinese in this area.
