DADAM is amazing.
I dreamed of places like this. Not until recently did I discover they actually existed. I was overwhelmed when I first entered this busy Korean food court. There were so many people moving every direction. So many options. Only an hour of lunch, so little time.
I gravitated toward the fresh fish salad bowl from one of the stations in the back. The salad was filled with an bowl of lettuce topped with assortment of raw fish, avocado, and rice on the side. Crazy good, and only $10.
The food court has a bunch of other stations I'm excited to go back and try. They have a few bubble tea stations, pork bun stations, simple korean food station, a sushi station, Spot dessert bar (upstairs), and these cute dough things in the shape of fish with red bean sweet flavoring inside. Those were bomb.
Definitely recommended for a lunch break or a quick stumble in. If you love Asian cuisine like me, then you'll be in love with this place.
Ordered their shabu shabu handmade noodle with beef. It came up to 16.32 including tax. The dish has part of the noodles came undercooked, and over all there were about 4 to 5 slices of thin and over cooked beef in it.
We had a tough time finding this restaurant as it was located on the third floor of a Korean food court. However, the smiling grandma who runs Dadam offered me some free watermelon, which lifted my spirits. On her recommendation, I got the chicken feet and duck soup. She tried to explain to me how to eat it but I'm afraid I didn't catch on since she was speaking with a heavy Korean accent. Later she showed me that the vegetables and noodles from the pot of soup into the spicy sauces provided.
Ultimately, it was a thoroughly satisfying, authentic, but unsurprising dish. If you find yourself in Little Korea, this restaurant and others in the food court are all delicious.
3.5-4 stars. I love the concept-hearty Korean food served quickly in a casual setting on the second floor of a food court-but I thought the food itself left something to be desired. I ordered the ox knee bone soup after reading all of the rave reviews. It tasted fresh and I enjoyed the ox very much, but my main gripe is that it just really lacked salt. With the meal came a small cup of sauce and some salt flakes that you could add in, but I felt like it was completely swallowed up by the soup and didn't really impact the ox at all. If you're not really a salt person then this could work for you but I felt like the meal was missing something.
The other thing that detracted slightly from the experience was the business of the food court. It took us a while to find a spot for 4 and we finally succeeded by dragging over 2 chairs and using the end of a table. Turnover is pretty quick though, so if you're patient then you'll end up with seats after a reasonable amount of waiting.
I would go back if I'm in Ktown and in the mood for super casual dining, but otherwise will be sticking with my usual haunts on the street.
Just had the spicy stir fry squid over rice for lunch. It was perfect, the squid was both firm and right texture with the right amount of spicy sauce, the rice portion was just right, the broth had just enough gluten strips (2) in it to make it interesting and the kimchi is as always distinctively their own. It took just the right amount of time, long enough to be of quality and repute yet not so long that it was difficult. It was a real pleasure to eat here again.
i also had the Montauk beer on tap today. It's so clean, easy-to-drink, light, and perfect for summertime mid-day drinking. Their other popular 1 with me is the Municher Hofbrau Pilsner, very similar with a bit more color.
As always, the head operator, an older very warm loving lady who loves to come out to chat with the guests & 2 younger ladies are always so very helpful as are the regular 2 male cooks & a female helper, all are so very helpful such as when I ask for a small plastic container & bag for the kimchi which I often take home.
I was really amazed by how good food tastes without MSG and artificial flavors! I have always been looking for tasty but healthy food in the city and I finally found one I love!
A huge shoutout to the elderly couple who were so gracious and always offered me extra stuff out of hop italics. One time when they overheard I was thirsty, they offered me free tea and slices of watermelon. These little gestures really impressed me and kept me going back! And another time the lady went the extra mile showing me how to properly eat the duck chicken feet soup as a mother, which touched my heart!
My recommendation:
Duck chicken feet soup!
No doubt about it, this is the most authentic, delicious Korean food I've had in Manhattan yet!! I'm definitely coming back for more!
The cutest little Korean grandma and grandpa oversees restaurant. You just know they know how to make Korean food right!
Located in the Food Court, on the 3RD Floor across from Spot dessert bar. I honestly got confused on the 2nd floor and saw the staircase next to the phone store. You go up the stairs and it's on the right side.
My mom and I got the Mushroom bibimbap and the Duck soup with chicken feet broth.
Both our meals came a bowl of white rice and generous portions of kimchi and Mu-kimchi (Raddish kimchi) WHICH WAS SO DANG GOOD!!
Mushroom bibimbap
two varieties of mushrooms! They give you gochujang (hot chili sauce) and sesame oil on the side to add. It adds SO much flavor to it. It also comes with odeng gook (fish cake soup). It's actually sort of a Korean thing to have soup with every meal. This is the definition of Korean comfort food.
Comes with a nice sunny side up egg! The bean sprouts are also fresh! They have this contraption that waters the bean sprouts so the vegetables stay hydrated and nutritious.
Duck soup with chicken feet broth (~$16)
note: there's is no physical chicken feet in the soup.
The broth is deeply flavorful from the hours of love that when into cooking the chicken feet broth.
-The tiny balls in the soup is what makes it spicy.
-The vegetables/green onions get wilted from the warmth of the soup.
-The sauce on the side is for dipping the pieces of duck meat, not to put in the soup.
The grandma says that it's amazing for your skin, especially the duck soup with vegetable brother and that's it's the reason she has no wrinkles.
Our plates and bowls were cleaned out to the very last drop of soup, grain of rice, piece of kimchi. We were super satisfied with our meal! Definitely reccommend this place!
This vendor probably serves the best authentic and creative Korean food within the Food Gallery food court. While pricier than the joints on the first floor, DADAM's dishes are flavorful and robust. The portions are larger than average, the soup-based items are legit, and the service is impeccable. The complementary teas are also a win.
