Hibiscus Restaurant & Bar

“Don't expect your drinks to be watered down here, they're Guyanese and an Irish wake is equivalent to pre-happy-hour for us.”

“They have only 2 delivery men working and they deliver within a huge radius of the restaurant.”

“With a large group they were surprisingly fast on the service, highly opposite of the Guyana I remember.”

  1. The food here is flavorful. I like it but the rating is for the service. I had to wait 45mins for 2 orders of house fried rice and 2 orders of baked chicken. I mean really!!!!! I thought the had the chickens out back and that's why it was taking so long. But NOOOOO!!! I was sitting in the car the whole time trying to figure out what was happening. If i decide to come back, maybe ill order 1-2 hours IN ADVANCED!!

  2. Several of us from Peace Corps Guyana were in town for a mini reunion and when searching for some west Indian food, a local suggested this place.
From the start, I was glad we came here. The staff, the smells, the music immediately transported me back to Guyana. Then I opened the menu….cook up, oxtail, curry, roti, dhal, and Guyanese chinese, plantain, banga mary….!!! Now that I don't eat meat, I opted for the stewed snapper curry. And a side of plantain chips. And a BANKS beer!!
With a large group they were surprisingly fast on the service, highly opposite of the Guyana I remember.
My chips were sweet and soft, dipped in hot sauce….delicious. Guyanese curry is not like Indian curry. It's greasier and it comes in one style but with different meats. It was exactly how I remembered.  But for those not accustomed,  the meat and fish comes with the bones.
A side of super moist and soft and hot dhal puri, and it was all I could do to not jump up and wine to the sounds of Soca music.
If you're looking for that taste of the West Indies, this is your place.
