  1. Fantastic!  From spanakpita and wine to pastichio this was A # 1. Great service and friendly. I will return for sure! We will do take out in the future too! George was a friendly and attentive server. See you all soon.

  2. Outside of Astoria, this restaurant is one of the better, more authentic Greek ones in NYC. The staff is very nice and helpful. Their wine selection is awesome and mostly Greek which scores major points with me. I went with my family and ordered: the fried calamari (nice and crispy and serve tentacles :)), saganaki (fried cheese is never wrong), salad and a few dishes of the fresh fish with dandelions, potatoes and beets on the side. Everything was perfectly grilled and delicious. My only complaint was dessert. The loukoumades (kind of like Greek zeppoles) were kind of soggy and not hot enough. Reasonably priced. I would go back again.

  3. Ahhhh, thank you for delivering when I am craving greek food. Delivery was very quick and food was delicious.

-Grape leaves – satisfied my craving for something tangy

    – Spanakopita- I love spinach pie. Sadly, by the time it was delivered, it wasn't as flake-y. But still good.

    – Chicken Souvlaki – Chicken wasn't try which is very very important! I loveeeeeeeeeee Tzatziki sauce and it was delicious.

I forgot what my boyfriend ordered because I was too busy stuffing my face.

  4. Highly recommend!

We ordered food via seamless long time ago, it was really good, so we'd like to try this restaurant.

We went there Saturday night, surprisingly all packed since the restaurant isn't located in some busy neighborhood, and it's not known for Greek food in Dyker Height. People drive over just for it. The waiting time wasn't bad around 20 mins.

We had spinach pie as appetizer, it was creamy and crispy. My bf ordered moussaka and I had the lamb gyro. Both of them were satisfying delish! With all we ordered plus a bottle of Greek beer(Fix), we spent less than $40. It's really an amazing choice for Greek food!

Definitely will go back one day!

  5. This is a poke stop. I caught a bulbasaur while I was dining here. It has a casual Greek vibe inside the restaurant, very chill, laidback, and island type of feel. The people who work here are very attentive. They're always checking up on you, but they failed to refill our water every time when it's empty. It's cool, I'll just ask for more water the next time they check up on us.

For appetizer I had the Three For All ($14.95), which is a spread of Tzatziki, Tarama and Melitzanosalata. I'm familiar with Tzatziki and I really like it. It's a yogurt with cucumber dip that taste really good with the warm pita that comes with it. I have no idea what are Tarama and Melitzanosalata. Apparently, Tarama is a caviar spread. I just thought it taste like some type of cheese. Melitzanosalata is an eggplant dip. I love eggplant, but this dip was just okay for me.

Also had the Baked Clams ($14.95), but I didn't taste any clam. The clam was nowhere to be found. It's like they served us the clamshells with the crabmeat stuffing without the clams. Did they like chopped up the clams and incorporated it into the stuffing. I'm not sure, but I wasn't expecting a clamless baked clam dish.

I ordered the Moussaka dish ($13.95) because it was under the Greek specialties section of the menu. It's a classic Greek casserole of baked eggplant with ground beef, topped with a cheese bechamel sauce. Seriously, this dish is considered a specialty? I didn't think it was anything special.

I came here because I just wanted some fresh grilled fish. You get to pick the fish of your choice. I picked the branzino ($26.95) since it sounds cooler then the red snapper or the striped bass. You get a whole fish, since they don't filet it for you. Luckily someone in my group is an expert in deboning a fish. I enjoyed this dish. It's very fresh and simple with a touch of olive oil and lemon juice.

Not a big fan of lamb, but I also had the New Zealand Baby Lamb Chops ($28.95), which is also grilled. They will ask you your preferred doneness. I prefer my meats in the medium level cooked and what I got was medium cooked lamb chops, not too done or too raw. It was perfect, but lacking in the flavor department. I don't think they added anything extra. Not even salt & pepper. You taste the natural essence of the lamb chops though.

And no, I didn't come here because it was a poke stop. It was just a coincidence.

  6. Had a quick solo lunch here and was very smitten with this place. Very large space, modest decor.  Authentic greek music on the radio accompanied by a flat screen tv playing "Visions of Greece". Enough to make you plan a future trip while waiting for your food. I didn't ask but it looks like a family owned business. The two waiters there could be brothers or cousins.

They bring you warm toasted bread with olive oil. Nice touch. I had the grilled octopus appetizer. At market price, it came out to be $20. I ordered it with a simple side of salad and a glass of wine($6). The octopus, with 2 large pieces, was amazing. Soft, not too chewy, chuncky pieces, super char-grilled. The side salad was a good size, lots of feta cheese. So with that combination I was full and happy.

Would return here whenever I'm in the area.

  7. Meze, s'agapo poli!  Why? Here are a few reasons:

    1) You're one of the few really good restaurants within a decent radius of my apartment. Like really good.

    2) You have some seriously friendly servers who know how to take care of their customers. Shoutout to Paul!

    3) Your food is always super fresh and extra tasty.

    4) Your ambiance is simple and not unnecessarily lavish.

    5) Did I mention your food is delicious?

I probably visit Meze at least once a month. I used to think the best Greek food in NYC was in Astoria, but it's actually in an unassuming area of Dyker Heights.

I always order saganaki (well done so it has so charred pieces of cheese), horiatiki salad, the dip trio (without tsatsiki and with tyrokafteri instead), the octopus (always tender and always delicious with just the right amount of char), a whole bronzino (filet that beast yourself for a more rewarding experience), the bifteki (hope you like garlic cuz it's chock full of it and it's oh so good), and a few other things that I can't think of at the moment.

Listen, let's cut to the chase. Stop going to Astoria. Come to Dyker Heights, walk into Meze, enjoy the olive bread with olive oil, order a glass of Dimitra wine, order the food I mentioned above, and finish off with some galaktoboureko for dessert. You can thank me later in a private message.

  8. Came here and service was friendly- at first. Ordered chicken gyro sandwich and lamb platter. It gets 4 stars for food.  2 stars for everything else- service and it was a loud I couldn't even hear myself breath. Would NEVER dine in again- however, I'd order a gyro To GO
