  1. I only had one bun (sampled the bacon kimchi bun), but from what I experienced, it was pretty good!

Service was super fast (because they had the buns ready when I ordered). The bun itself was flavorful and hot, although I thought it could be a little juicier/less dry. The buns are pretty big, and for $3 each, it's not a bad deal. A few friends and I got one each while we had a bit of downtime and it made for a good snack.

Tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary.

  2. Umm hello! We abruptly stopped on the sidewalk when we noticed this store front making the people behind us grumble around us.  Who cares? I was going to get me a bunn!  I got the kimchi and bacon bunn (who can say no to bacon?) and hubby got the chicken curry bun.  Both were very savory, delicious, and filling!  Loved the concept and wished we had tried the red bean stuffed fish shaped cakes.  Heard those were really good but our bellies were too full from the bunns.  Oh well, next time!

  3. Bunn knows their audience, the people who are so pressed for time that don't even the 15 minutes it takes of the cafeteria style eats inside Food 32 proper. Instead Bunn is for people who need to do something that expert after expert tell us is a bad idea, yet we do it anyway – eat on the run.

I've been taking Russian classes around the corner (at a place that is an ESL classroom during the day, and foreign language institute by night) and sometimes there's not enough time before or after lessons for a proper meal. And Bunn does hit the spot when it comes to a snack.

One of their smartest additions has been traditional bao, which are here called "pocked buns." These come with a bit of spicy pork or beef, along with some cabbage. The spicy pork is a perfect four bite way to see off hunger for a couple hours.

The traditional bun/bunns require a bit of the nearby sauces to avoid being a rather flavorless protein bomb. This pretty much defeats the purpose of a grab and go food option. But this isn't really a place for a meal, so just stick to this when it comes to a snack.

  4. I have to give 4 stars for just simple, quick deliciousness all in the palm of your hand. You go up, you order, and as you are paying, your bun is ready in the take-away box. The best flavor by far is the beef one. The dough is fresh, the beef and noodle ratio on the inside is perfect, and the flavor is spot on. Nice and savory without being too overwhelming to the soft dough. I'd say if this bun could be improved, it be to have a fluffier texture but overall, extremely satisfying for $3 a bun.

The mini red bean fish are also a nice snack. I'd recommend those for a quick sweet bite.

I will say…do not order the chicken curry. It tastes…strange.

  5. The buns are excellent. I got two pocket bunns – spicy pork and marinated beef. Service was fast and the quality was great. Buns were fluffy and delicious. Meat was flavored to perfection. Also came with this nice Asian coleslaw in the bun that provided a contrasting, cooler taste. Will come back!

  6. Yummmm! I didn't even take a picture of the inside of my Pork Bunn because it was so good! Ok actually, I've had way better buns like these in HK but this bun shop puts a unique twist on the buns that I really like. I got the pork because the cashier guy recommended it (nice guy! he also gave me a free custard filled fish pastry that was good) and expected it to be your usual pork and veggies inside. But nope, they have japchae (Korean noodle) and spices inside that make it so new and good. I tried taking it to the office but was so scared people would call me out on the smell so I scarfed it down. I was still caught though. Eh. No regrets. Definitely coming back to try the other favors!

  7. Red bean fish good. The dough is especially soft without being mushy and just crispy enough to keep my interest. Paste itself was OK, though it might not warrant the 3 or so bucks I paid for it. Nice that they have so many varieties.

  8. Small kiosk in the bigger-than-it-looks food court in Korea town (immediate left as soon as you walk in). Nothing does the body good better than a few sticky buns after a couple of beers.

Pretty straight forward menu; between two people got the bacon kimchi, beef, chicken curry, and red bean buns ($10ish total). Took our food upstairs with small cups of sriracha and soy sauce. Amazingly big buns that fit in the palm of your hand comfortably with the ratio of bun to meat being more generous than I've ever seen before. Favorites were the chicken curry and beef items, amazingly flavorful (especially with a bit of sriracha). Bacon kimchi tasted good with the soy sauce, but I was expecting more bacon flavor than it really had, still tasty. Red bean a solid finisher for the meal.

Great spot for some food/drink before karaoke. Though really want to try the other places in the court.
