Famous Amadeus Pizza
“Right around the corner from "Wicked"(Gershwin Theater)…perfect for a quick slice before or after the show.”

Yeah, this place is a little more expensive than your average pizza place around the city–but damn, it was worth it.
I wasn't expecting much, but the chicken pizza that we ordered was one of the best I've had around the city. The toppings are pretty generous and the crust is great as well. Worth checking out if you have a craving for pizza.
Best burger I have had since I arrived in the city – perfect place to stop and glad I came this far uptown for it !!!
Could go for Heinz ketchup instead.
Good selection of music too – can't really come with any bad things about the place.
(2.5 stars) I get a buffalo chicken slice from here pretty regularly when I'm in the city and I've always enjoyed them: hot, crispy and spicy. But this last time, I was super disappointed because my slice was lukewarm and bland. I still ate it all because I was hungry but after a few bites, I was indifferent to the rest. I had a sicilian slice as well and that was also lukewarm and tasted really dried-out. The pizza must have been sitting a while and they definitely didn't heat it up long enough.
If you want local New York pizza that will blow your pizza brain, visit the guys at Famous Amadeus Pizza!!
Several blocks uptown from Times Square and Hells Kitchen, this classic small Italian pizza cafe has a fast food look to it. We were almost put off by the atmosphere when looking in from the outside, especially after having passed so many interesting and nicely designed cafes and bistros in Hell's Kitchen. But MANN this pizza was fantastic!!
We ordered slices of the Grandma (fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, and toasted garlic), Meat Lovers, Veggie (it had broccoli on it, but was crazy good), and some garlic rolls. All I can say is, these guys know how to do pizza flavor. Anyone reading this has had lots and lots of pizza. It takes something special to make this Americanized pseudo Italian, slightly-elevated-above-snack food something special. Famous Amadeus has it.
I just wish they were in my city. Famous Amadeus will be a must visit when I return to New York!
My friend and I were craving pizza in the city so we decided to just go into whichever pizza place we spotted next, lol I'm glad it was this one.
We loved our pizza here! We got two slices each – I got mushroom/pepperoni and plain; she got pepperoni and plain. The slices are so big, and the crust is really crispy. I didn't even feel the need to add oregano or extra parmesan cheese like I normally do.
I wish there was a location in NJ!
Tourist trap or not, this is definitely the place to grab a big slice of pizza. My friend recommended Famous Amadeus to me and after a long day of touring the city, a slice of NY pizza was all I wanted… Boy, did this place hit the spot!
I got a big, cheesy pizza slice that had a zesty tomato sauce and a crunchy crust. They were very generous with the mushrooms and their pepperoni slices were larger than what I'm used to. I guarantee you that one slice is enough to make you feel full.
Coming from a tourist visiting NY, I think the pizza was pretty damn good. I'd come back the next time I make a trip to the city.
Rock me, Amadeus…is what I wished for my pizza experience to do when I visited. Although it was okay, my world was not rocked.
The joint was crowded and lively but the staff were very quick and had the line moving. I was there on a Friday around 7:30 and there were only one or two slices available for each specialty pie. Somebody in front of me got the last buffalo chicken slice. I had a regular chicken and a pepperoni. Both were okay. Like most pepperoni slices, this one was incredibly greasy. Had to let it drain between bites.
Slices are generous but I like the ones at Gotham Pizza on the next block a little better. That's not to say this isn't a decent place but the crust on both my slices was a little floppy and I like it much stiffer.
For me, this was a quick pit stop for a slice as I was heading out for another day of adventure and sight seeing. I had walked by a couple times and saw they have a few different locations so figured it was worth a try. It seemed like they had just opened when I walked in as they didn't have much out on display quite yet but I was just looking for a slice of pepperoni which they had plenty of hot, fresh, and ready. I would say their pizza is solid but not spectacular. Definitely does it's job when you're just looking for something fast which I was. With so many pizza options all over the city, I imagine it's nearly impossible to stand out among the crowd although I give these guys props for providing good food in a clean environment while providing good customer service.
