  1. I will come here again and again as long as I live in New York! Cute atmosphere, very warm, and friendly service. I had the macro salad with kale, sesame dressing, pumpkin seeds coated in some cinnamon spice, avocado, butternut squash, sauerkraut, and spicy dried pepper. One of the most delicious salads I've had. Also had the immunity boost with blueberries to start – a necessary coconuty keifer treat (soupy texture with blueberries floating a top). For dessert, which I highly recommend, the raw chocolate peppermint espresso torte – so so rich that you'll need to share with a friend or take half home to eat later. This place rocks, I will be back. Support the good food spots, guys! Macro food will treat you right.

  2. Hands down..the best raw vegan restaurant on the face of the earth. ..lol…
Seriously this place can compete with restaurants that carnivores frequent as every dish that I've had was phenomenal.

  3. Nah, wasn't really feeling them. The food was just okay, and according to those I was with, it just wasn't good at all I came here at the recommendation of a colleague who is of the all-healthy-vegan-consuming bunch. She raved about it and even gave me some type of post card for a free something, which I forgot and therefore wasn't able to use. The service was decent as the waiters and waitress were friendly. The food came out quickly and I liked my apple pancakes. We also had a few of the appetizers (brussel sprouts-everyone enjoyed, the pancakes w/shiitake mushroom bacon-thumbs down for the shrooms, and the avocado toast-pretty good). The bathroom AKA the washroom AKA was extremely small and in direct view of the entire restaurant. A complete turn off. Not a thumbs down but not a thumbs up either.

  4. The few times I've gone here I'm thrilled for the uber hippy, gf, vegan options. You enter to a sunny spot with a long wooden community table and a kind greeting from an equally sunny server. And yet. I can never get comfortable here for some reason. No matter, the food's the thing. The food is good. I've gone for the platters and your plate is colorful and ranges from beans, to rice to veggies with the all important (and most tasty) dressing. Then I remember, I've never really had a truly scrumptious and satisfying meal here either- but it's good – just not 20 total for lunch good. It certainly satisfies the dietary needs but not the palates. The coffee however blew me away, and some time ago I did try a smoothie that was memorable. It isn't a cheap lunch either. I paid 20 for a platter and a cup of joe after tax and tip. I'm sure I'll go back for the coffee and smoothies.

  5. I would like to live nearby so that I can eat here regularly. I like their coconut kefir, it's rich and creamy. They serve meals all day long, not like some places that closes between lunch and dinner and they have raw food, fermented food.

Western burrito (gluten free, raw): sunflower seed pate, salsa, avocado, zucchini and cabbage in a sunflower dill dressing, served in a collard green wrap. One thing about raw food is that it tends to have too much nuts and seeds. Otherwise, it's nice to have flavorful and fresh vegetables on a wrap made of greens. It's messy to eat because the stuffing falls down as I ate the wrap, but I love the juiciness of raw vegetables.

  6. The short: ultra delicious granola

My mom got me into the whole eating healthy lifestyle change and I think this place does her philosophy justice.

Inside is a large communal table and 4 seater tables that flank its side. I like all the light that flows into this place.

The first waiter that I interacted with was unpleasant and much preferred the waiter who oversaw the rest of my dining experience.

I had trouble deciding on what to get and ended up getting the granola. At home, I usually eat Nature's Path Pumpkin Flax and Hemp Plus. When I took a bite of the granola here, it was even more delicious! It must have been the coconut kefir, the blueberries, and the strawberries that made it all the more enjoyable. I loved it so much that I asked to see if they had some granola that I could buy. They do, but oddly it's the same price as the bowl that I got (without the fruit), so then it prompted me to at least to try to figure out how to learn how to make granola on my own. Until then, I'll keep revering the granola from here. 😉

Also, with a Yelp check-in, I got a free cookie and that was ultra delicious too!

Their chef takes an original concept and adds unique ingredients to make the food more scrumptious, which I admire. I don't know if it's the fact that I was getting tired of the salty NY foods, though I'm glad that SIB sticks with the simple and natural flavors of each ingredient.

Too bad I'm living on the west coast; otherwise, I'd be back here more often!

Also, there's a refrigerated section for grab and go eats and drinks.

  7. Vegan/vegetarian food is absolutely delicious and often packed with more flavor than your average meat-including fare. I'd biked past Sun in Bloom so many times and wanted to pop in but didn't get a chance until about two weeks ago. When I finally went I was so absolutely let down I had to ask for a meal comp for a portion of my meal.

I ordered the Avocado Toast ($7), and received literally ONE piece of bread with a quarter of avocado spread on it and some pepper flakes. Which is fine, if I was at home making myself a snack, but not OK when it costs more than…IDK $2? thats how much I would price that at.

I was outraged, but I thought OK! Maybe something else will be worthwhile. I ordered one of the soups of the day. I thought – Soup! They will redeem themselves……. No. I ordered the soup and it had NO taste whatsoever. Literally it tasted like water with some veggies floating in it. Don't get me wrong, soup doesnt need to be hella salty and have a ton of stuff in it, but it does need to have SOME kind of flavor.
OR if the goal is to cleanse the palate, thats fine as well, but that was not how the soup was advertised.

I asked for the soup to be comped and promptly left.

I'm sure this was just the worst possible things to order on the menu on the worst possible day, but still I will not be going back.

  8. Hands down, one of the best vegan and plant-based restaurants in New York.

I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie sandwich and the raw collard green wrap. The space itself isn't big so I recommend getting your food to go. They do have 3 or 4 bar seats near the window, which are normally available.
