Excellent selection and fresh. I have been coming here with my mom for a long time. Usually I just stick to the base platter they give you and load up on the crockpot options love the spicy oil but don't get too crazy or it will be inedible!
The leek dumplings and scallion pancake with eggs are also a banger.
For three people with 2 appetizers, one regular hot pot, one beef and one beef and shrimp it was under $50.
That's amazing.
I must say that I enjoy the individual hot pot culture, it's great for folks who despise the intimacy of the traditional communal one big boiling pot. With that said, Shabu Shabu is great for adding the hands-on creativity to the dinner table so you dont have to scramble to acquaint to your less than enthusiastic co-workers, your in-laws that you are scheduled to dine with, the list never ends.
Shabu was very reasonably priced, for less than $20 per person, you get a platter of your choosing to add into your broth. Customize the broth: original, spicy, kimchi, curry. The hot pot toppings are different surf and turfs and/or veggies. And the obvious appetizers and yakitori sticks.. but who wants to buy all that when you can barely finish your enormous portion already.
We saw our neighbors ordering rice on the side, and tossing them into the soup base, and boy were we amazed. They just made congee!!!!
The service was fast, efficient, and friendly. Decent selection of sauces/dippings. Very clean.
I suggest to ask for seats at the bar, or they will have you share tables with other people for parties of less than 4.
I came here twice for a friend's birthday and for me, it was like your standard Asian hot pot place They have a good amount of seating (three floors). Parking can be a little tough since it is Flushing, but my friend and I were lucky enough to get a spot out right in front. They give you a tray full of side items like lettuce, one broccoli, one carrot, one taro, one egg, one bulk of straw mushroom, one mushroom, and a few other select items. You choose was meat you want or you can choose a combo of it as well. I got the fish and chicken combo ($14). They also have your standard sauce options on the middle floor. My friends and I took our sauces and dumped them into the hot pot to give it some flavoring. You really can't go too wrong with hot pot since you're the one cooking it and you're in control of your flavoring and sauces
This place is okay to me. It's not bad but for the amount I spent, I might as well have done the all you can eat at iCook which isn't too far away from this place. The waiters are nice and friendly What I will say though is they should come around with water more often I finished my first glass of water within 5 minutes and thank god I had my tea to drink because my water was not filled once during my two hour stay. Also if you're celebrating a special someone's birthday they do hold your cake for you and there is no caking fee.
This is my go-to shabu shabu spot in Flushing. It's affordable, tastes great and is pretty consistent with service/performance. I have yet to try it's competitor next door, Zebra Lounge, but I probably should.
When you walk in, you'll get greeted by the same lady every time. At first she comes off as very cold, but is actually very nice once you get to know her. you have a choice of various soup broths but I just go for the normal one. I've tried the kimchi one but don't remember liking it. The broth is pretty well seasoned – nothing super special though. I get the beef every time. You're given some cabbage, squash, taro, fish balls, cellophane noodles, egg and tofu. You can easily spend $12-$15 on yourself and be full. It's bizarre but if you want more protein, you can get another one for half the price of the one you ordered. In regards to taste, it's not like there's a specialness to shabu taste. I haven't had amazing shabu yet in my life but this is very solid. Tastes clean, doesn't taste "Chinese" sorry if that's racist.. I've never had any stomach issues after eating. Their sauces are very fresh and service is usually very good.
Over time, they've raised their prices as they see a lot of Koreans coming here + business is doing very well so price is relatively inelastic. Also, next door Zebra charges more so Minni's can. This place is very clean compared to most shabu places.
My friend who lives in Queens recommended Minnis Shabu Shabu and so I trekked all the way from Upper Manhattan to check this place out. All I can say is YUM!! Everyone has their own pot and starts off with a platter of veggies and fishballs. From there, you can order additional meats and seafood. My friends and I each ordered the seafood + meat combo ($18) and were pleasantly surprised by the huge portions. There's a sauce bar located at the center of the restaurant, where you can create your own concoction of spices and sauces. I was left uncomfortably full, but extremely satisfied. Too bad this place is so far away, otherwise I would want to come here whenever it's cold out (basically every day of winter).
(+) Prices are extremely affordable, and large portions!
(+) Spacious and roomy
(-) Service is not the absolute best (ladies who work there were kinda grouchy)
There are a few more hot pot restaurants in the area to choose from now but we've always go back to Minnis for hot pot meals.
We have been dining here for over 13 years now and never yet experience a bad meal or slow service.
If you have the hotpot crave from a cold winter day, but aren't looking to get explosively full, this is the spot!
16$ for a fatty beef combo which is an assorted variety of veggies/noodles/fishtofu/fishballs/corn/fattybeef/etc.,
You have your sauce station with the essentials to make your sauces delish. They have seating on 3 floors with great ambiance for a date or small group gathering.
The soup is always great and one of my favorite things to do here is, after eating all the combo items, i would order rice and turn it into rice soup with my awesome soup base!
In terms of service, i'd assume it has deterred and became more of a lazy and easy-going delivery.
Being opened for quite a while with a consistent staff probably knows they won't be expecting customer/revenue loss, so service isn't a top priority for them!
Excellent experience! First time in a long day that I had went for hot pot and it was much desired! I ordered the lamb meat and tried the curry Roth for the first time and really enjoyed it! The curry flavored was not too empowering and has a hint of sweetness. I would definitely recommend. It was a very satisfying meal. The staff was also extremely kind and welcoming! They all said goodbye and gave us new year wishes as we left!
