Rocky Sullivan’s

“B61bus stops at their front door and the IKEA WATER FERRY to and from Wall Street is only about two blocks away in back of IKEA.”

“And if you're lucky enough to sit up on the roof in a deck chair on a beautiful night under a full moon with someone you actually like spending time with, well, that's as good as it gets.”

“They share a building with SixPoint Brewery but are not associated with them (the Brewery is rarely open to the public).”

  1. Went here with friends for some rooftop drinking on a nice Sunday afternoon to find out that the roof has been closed because Six Point Brewery took it over.  We were pretty bummed but stuck around for a round of drinks.  They offer a nice selection of beers on tap.  The table we sat at, along with our menus, had a layer of sticky grime on it, which was a turn off.  We considered ordering food, but opted to try some place else.

Everyone seemed friendly, and there was a crowd of local regulars, unfortunately it just didn't give us what we were looking for during our visit.  Perhaps I should give it another try based on previous reviews and see if maybe I missed something.

  2. A little out of the way but otherwise, Rocky Sullivan's is A-OK!

Last week, a couple of friends and I found ourselves having a late lunch here. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and for just $5, was served both that and a side of fries. While the sandwich could have been better grilled, and the fries were a bit soggy, both were nonetheless satisfactory. And for $5, or a $1 less than the draft beer that I also ordered, I couldn't really complain! My friends were satisfied with their food, as well.

While I am glad that I ordered a local draft- after all, it is a pub!- this was only after I was told that they were completely out of regular cola, and only had diet. Ew. Diet soda shouldn't exist. I'll take a beer over that any day!

  3. My bf and I came here on a weekday, I believe like a Monday night. It's your typical regular bar on a weekday lol. When we arrived there it seemed like a ghost town outside. We didn't order food, but beers are well priced. We were with a bunch of people who actually go here on a regular, so we went to the back area and set the tables up for beer pong. Lighting was def. off in the back room.

  4. I've been here twice and I absolutely adore this bar.  Now to be fair, when I come here, I'm a tagalong to a bunch of regulars who are very much loved, so I tend to get spoiled (in other words, I barely wait 2 minutes for a drink refill. Go ahead, be jealous).

The two times that I've been there have been their Thursday Trivia night which is honestly a ton of fun.  There are free drink giveaways in between rounds and the host is pretty funny.  The waitress there, Rachel, is as sweet as pie and by the time you leave you'll absolutely be getting a hug from her like you've known her for years.

The beer selection is okay, more craft beers than anything, but still good.  As for the food, I can only speak for the burger and fries which were both very flavorful, but I've heard their pizza (they have their own pizza oven!) is absolutely amazing.

I really wish I lived closer so I could frequent this place more often, but then again, its nice to experience things once in a while so you can really appreciate how great it is!

  5. If you've ever been to Red Hook, then you already know Rocky Sullivan's. It's a neighborhood dive, to be sure, with a good draft selection, and friendly staff. There's a handful of tables in the main area, but also a back area with more seating. There's the b61 bus stop on the corner, but you can just look for the open screen door and listen for the sounds of good times being had.

  6. My boyfriend and I planned a trip to IKEA nearby and decided to stop by Rocky Sullivan's on the way there. Needless to say, we never made it to IKEA. The pizza here is absolutely delicious. I will go as far as to say this is the best pizza I've had in NY (I'm native NYer).  We ordered the Margarita pie with pepperoni. The crust was thin and crunchy. The sauce was sweet and perfectly seasoned. We had a beer each and headed home.  Totally worth the trek to Red Hook- easily accessible by bus B61.  Looking forward to our next visit!

  7. Ok I get that I should stop ordering grilled cheese out and that it's easy to make at home…but man I love their grilled cheese. I worked nearby for a project, and this was where I'd go to wait for rush hour to end. Or to watch football matches. Or to just…hang! I love low-key bars where you can just go and you know you'll have good, solid service and a good time.

I have to say my favorite time here was watching a World Cup match with one of my favorite friends, where the bar was packed with just about every type of person you could imagine…including ages 3 to 83. Truly a neighborhood bar. I just wish it were in my neighborhood!

  8. We stopped in on Saturday for the first time to try some pizza and beer. We got the Margherita pizza and the Greek pizza along with some beer and both were INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS! The pizza is made to order with crackly, thin crust and tons of gooey mozzerella. Mmmmmmm!
