  1. If you're looking for a brunch spot in Park Slope near the train, this is it, but it might not wow you.

    Brunch reservations can be made on opentable but for some reason wasn't working so they were happy to put us down over the phone.

    The place was bustling when we came at noon. Full service coffee and espresso.  Latte was delish and friend even liked her regular coffee (not sure what they brew).

    Food portions are on the smaller side for some. French toast comes with 4 half slices, pre-dressed with the perfect amount of syrup, bananas, thin sliced strawberries, and chantilly cream. Not crispy like I usually like French toast but I'd order it again IF I went. Steak (5 slices) and eggs served with thin cut fries. Tartine has brisket with au jus on bottom of plate, doesn't look that appetizing but husband seemed to like it?  La paysanne is a vegetable sandwich served warm, surprisingly good with roasted red pepper, too much red onion, tomato, artichoke, not enough avocado, and some sorta delish cheese. Croque madam served with salad friend seemed to enjoy.  Thin cut fries came out piping hot and crispy, they must got great with mussels!

    Service is good, water kept full, everyone checked in once or twice.

  2. A group of us came here at noon on Black Friday. The waitress was friendly but the service was slow. I ordered from the lunch prix fixe menu which included an appetizer and a lunch entrée. I had the French onion soup and the steak frites. The steak was BLAND. I had to salt my steak and it really bothered me how the chef missed on the basics. The French onion soup was okay. Overall, the best item I had that day was the side of fries with my steak.

  3. The usual brunch place, a tiny French cafe on the quiet side of Park Slope. The food is decent, we ordered the Eggs Bennies with ham and salmon, their hollandised sauce is not super thick, kind of watered-down but still not bad. But nothing special. The house potato wedges though were very crispy and flavorful. The plate decor was so plain, I wish it looked prettier. The latte we ordered tasted alright, also nothing special, the flower pattern came out so ugly we just laughed. Overall it's just ok.

  4. Nice ambiance, we came in for brunch around 2pm. I really wanted their steak frites but was a little disappointed that they only had their brunch menu available. I was able to get steak and eggs which was pretty much the same thing so I was happy with that, but it wasn't as amazing as I expected. The steak was a little charred on the outside which was okay, but was cooked really unevenly. Some of the slices of my steak were really rare and some were medium. The fries were good and eggs cooked nicely. I would eat here again for sure, especially since all my friends really loved their dishes, but it Really sucks that this place is either cash only or AMEX only. They have an ATM, but we were all surprised that they'd only take AMEX for credit cards.

    Food: French onion soup was amazing.. Split the mushroom risotto, shishito peppers and mussels with fries with a friend.. I've definitely had better risotto, the mussels were in a very flavorful wine sauce

    Service: went during lunchtime when there were two servers.. We had to flag them down for waters and the check after waiting a while; was not impressed with the lack of attentiveness

    Ambience: I liked the atmosphere- coffee to go window, open doors so you can sit outside or on the edge of the restaurant on a nice day; full bar – seems like a good place to go for cocktails

  6. Small space with small but very satisfying menu. Located on 4th Avenue, parking is plentiful and the ambiance is comforting.

After much debating of "where, what kind, etc" we settled on Olivier Bistro.  Must say – excellent choice for the evening!.  I'd even give it 4.5 stars if that was an option.  Really – very minor details would need correction for a perfect 5.  We were a party of four tonight and while the place is quite small, it has a homie sort of feel to it and quite accommodating (we had a stroller with us).  
    The menu isn't extensive but has enough variety to choose from.  They even offered specials for the evening.  Our choices for tonight were: Salmon tartar and burrata for appetizers (to share).  Salmon was very simple but tasty, though I think it would be just a tad bit better if it was cooler.  Burrata was so yummy, a generous piece of fresh mozzarella with (I think) cured ham and .. something else haha I don't recall but very, very tasty.  When ordering, we noted that we were sharing but I guess the dish consists of three pieces (blah, two of us shared) and an additional piece wasn't an option (?).  We also ordered French Onion Soup (very cheesy and oh so good) and Gazpacho (it was fine, not too notable but not bad).  Oh and we had the Grilled Octopus – delicious! tender, not chewy, overall well prepared. For entree we ordered (again to share) Moules Frites in white wine sauce and the Cote De Boeuf 30oz – OMG this was simply amazing!!!! The meat was so tender, perfect temperature (ordered medium rare), not an ounce of extra fat (sometimes you get entirely too much of it). There were also a couple of glasses of house rose and beer (bottled – blah).
    Pretty much the only disappointing fact about our dinner that the chef seems to be a bit heavy handed with the salt – on everything (especially that amazing steak).  While some parts of the steak were mouth-wateringly delicious (is that even a word), there were parts that were simply saturated with salt (so thirsty now!) … anyway, awesome conclusion for the weekend (if only a bit too pricy).

  8. Just wanted to say, I came back here for coffee and it was some of the best coffee I have ever had! I am including coffee I have drank in Rome, France, US well known coffee houses, etc. The flavor of the beans was perfect, just perfect. It was a beautifully made latte. I know me new go to coffee spot!
