Smack dab next to the restaurant bearing the same name, the adjacent pork store was well worth my time to quickly explore.
Time was short, the shelves offered products I was very familiar with, but adorning different labels. I'd wished to familiarize myself with more intimately with each jar, but alas, it wasn't to be on this day.
Solution? Just keep buying stuff and upon reaching home—read, slice, dip, sip, swallow and repeat.
Vavel sour kraut, Koch horseradish, Lowensenf mustards, including a sweet and spicy Bavarian style of the same brand. Kiihnu- Grunkohl Nach all found their way into my basket along with some hard bread, Wilds party rye squares to sit below my knockwurst, goose liver and bratwurst. Not to mention a sixer of Francis Kahner dinkel.
Upon reaching home I felt pulled back in time to my grandma's house where I snacked upon such authentic delectables.
While procuring my meats, a fine gentleman who held down the deli counter offered me a taste of the Speck which took my taste buds back in time once again to Oma's kitchen.
This store has got everything you need from Germany – Deli, Baked Goods, Snacks, Candies/Chocolates, condiments and more! They even sell glasses from Zum Stammtisch next door (attached).
They have a wide variety of German Sausages and this great Pretzel Roll baked at a local bakery in Queens.
Fun place to visit and get all your German needs.
This is an extension of the Zum Stammtisch restaurant, and it's really an awesome addition to the neighborhood.
They have a great selection of steak, ground meat, pork, and sausages in the back, and all of those hard to find items from Germany like sour cherries, stinky cheese, and black bread. They also have a great selection of beer.
If you can get past the touristy kitch up front, this place is really a great and serviceable delicatessen.
Right next door to the best German Restaurant in the state is a authentic German deli that serves all different types of meats along with plenty of snacks and things you would have a very hard time trying to find unless you are in Germany. The place is quite large and the staff is very friendly and will help you out for whatever you are in the mood for. Don't come here hungry though. You will want to get everything.
Attached to Zum Stammtisch German restaurant, you can walk through and pick up your favorite German meats and candies. They are only open until 6pm and the store is tiny, but very unique! They have many chocolates and candies up front along with a small beer cooler. The back of the shop is the real winner though, with fresh German meats, sausages, cold cuts and salads. This place has things you won't find elsewhere!!
