“Some of the best dishes are the tandoori chicken and Malai Kofta, but everything I've tried here has been tasty, especially the garlic naan.”

“I ordered Chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala, chicken makhani, chick peas, spinach w cheese & cauliflower.”

“Second, the restaurant is BYOB (or at least until it gets its liquor license), and there's a liquor store conveniently across the street!”

  1. Found this gem because of yelp, so thank you other reviewers!!!  After seeing a matinee show, walked down here for dinner.  When we got there there were two people waiting outside and I don't know if they close for a break but the restaurant had us wait for a few minutes while they cleaned the floor then let us in.  Glad I got there when I did, because the place is SMALL and it filled up very quickly.   I ordered the chilli paneer for an app and malai kofta.  It was the best I had, very delicious.    My only negative ( but this is true for so many city restaurants) is the bathroom was RIGHT THERE NEXT TO TABLES.  Luckly, our table was the furthest away, but I have issues sitting next to a bathroom.

  2. Awesome food, even better service! This place was amazing, and everything I look for in a restaurant. My friend and I were craving Indian food and I found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Right when you walk through the door, the workers greet you with a smile. They treat you like family even if it's your first time there. The entire staff from the servers to the manager were attentive and checked up on their customers to make sure everything was fine with their meal. Also, the waiters consistently refilled the water cups, without ever needing to be asked (bonus points for being so attentive).

We shared a chicken tikki Marsala with cheese and spinach naan. There was a mix up with the order and they accidentally gave us the garlic naan instead. When we told our waiter he graciously apologized and said he'll place the order for our cheese and spinach and gave us the garlic naan on the house!! Not only was it great to get free food, but everything tasted so delicious! I will definitely be coming back here again!!

I never write Yelp reviews, but my experience here was so great that I felt like I just had to tell the world how amazing this restaurant is!

  3. The place is small, but the staff is super friendly, and do their best to make you feel comfortable as soon as you arrive. my friend and i needed to wait 15 minutes for a table but as we waited, they sat us a nearby smaller table and brought us drinks. They also encouraged us to go get wine or beer from the liquor store across the street as they are BYOB for now until their liquor license comes through.

We ordered the vegetable samosa, chicken vindaloo, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and rice. Everything was pretty good, but the portions seemed small in my opinion. Also, most indian restaurants offer rice if you order a main dish, this place charged around $6 for a bowl. Overall it cost about $30 per person after tip and tax.

  4. As a lover of Indian food, I'm usually a little left out in that category when needing some lunch around my office. I discovered this after being let down by another place which I thought was average. Luckily this place is pretty damn good. It's a small place, and for some reason it's not that busy – it should be busier. Anyway, solid choice and the best Indian in the area I've had and my Indian co-workers agree too. Check it out if you're around and in need of some solid Indian food.

  5. This place was great! I came here with my sister one fine Friday night (8:30pm) – we had a reservation but no res was needed.

    Space:
The restaurant (as everyone has said) is VERY small. Maybe 15 tables
    Decorated nice

    Staff:
The staff is so nice, they treated us as if we were regulars (even though it was out first time) – joking around

    Food:
Everything we had arrived quickly and was very good. We had pratha, a cauliflower dish, a chicken dish, and a few others (can't remember the names, but all were very good). The food was good, but was VERY salty – so be sure to drink a lot of water with it.

BEST PART (main reason for writing the review):
It is one of the only places that is BYOB !! The food isn't cheap, but bringing alcohol saved us a bunch making it cheaper than most other places!

Would definitely come back to try other menu items!

  6. This is the first sit-down restaurant we had after moving to New York. Our first visit was on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm. It's a small, quaint place and it was pretty full at this time, although we were quickly seated at the last open table.

We ordered the Samosas, Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower), Channa Masala, the chicken Biryani rice and a Naan. This was way too much food for two people. But, we had plenty of leftovers for the next day or two.

We haven't eaten at a tremendous number of Indian restaurants, but we concluded that this was the best of them all. All of the sauces were homemade and very tasty. The food, well, each were very good!

Next time I would:  Order less! Could make a meal for two out of any two combinations of what we ordered. Oh, and the Naan is must regardless!

Bonus: The staff were all very pleasant!

  7. I recently discovered this little gem in the midtown. We had paneer tikka, paneer tikka nimbu, malai kofta, gobi manchurian, papdi chaat and gulab jamun. and of course chef special jaljeera!!! Everything is so delicious. Somewhat small place but decent ambience, very courteous staff and excellent food. Flavors are extremely authentic and addictive. If you come here once, you will again!! Highly recommended for a truly indian dining experience.

  8. Was craving Indian food and needed to be near the A. Found this place through Yelp and met the boyfriend there at around 6:45 on a Thursday. No trouble at all getting in. It is BYOB which is awesome because there is a liquor store right across the street and we were able to grab a bottle of wine.

Food was all very good, had gobi manchurian to start, and then split chicken tikka masala, fish tikka, and naan. Definitely hit the spot. The service is also really nice and everyone was lovely.  It was a bit pricey but I guess that's to be expected (around 80 with tax and tip). We would go back if we were in the area and needed a place to eat.
