We went to Ribalta on a Saturday night without reservation. Only 2 blocks to Union Square so we were expecting there to be wait for a table. However they had available ones outside but since it was our first time there, we wanted to enjoy the nice interior. After 2-3 minutes wait, hostess lady called us in. There is a back room with 2 tables, one for 8 and the other for 2 next to a mirror, tables is isolated from the saloon and you dine as if at your home, i am usually not picky for that kind of details but seeing that they had many other tables available night long made me think negative and the AC was so high and we ended up having headaches.
What we ate? We got the asparagus pizza from the whites and the pasta with pesto sauce and a bottle of wine at the beginning. Pizza was really nice, pasta was so undercooked for me, liked the sauce but the choice of pasta was not correct for me, they are like some dough-balls covered with the sauce. Portion of the pasta was kind of small so we got a cheese table to finish the wine. Only liked ricotta cheese honestly, rest was not for me.
Service was good, fast and attentive. Yes I would go again but never again to table 31. I will consider the atmosphere when I will have the chance to spend some time in the main saloon. For now, it's okay.
OH MY PIZZA. So ive made it clear I LOVE neopolitan pizza. This place is trendy, great location, good prices and great selection.
They give bread when you sit so automatic win. I split the buratta with my friend- my very first- and it was HEAVEN. It basically melted in my mouth it was fantastic. Their wine selection is on point and their pizzas are even better. We OF COURSE split the hot dog and french fry pizza and what an experience that was. They also have buffalo mozz which is my altime favorite so this was basically the greatest thing in life.
There was a predicament with the table next to us and the staff handeled it perfectly and the manager was incredibly accommodating and generous- customer is always right! Always good to see. This is also right by NYU and Greenwich so you're in an awesome spot.
Whenever we come here we never have to wait to be seated.
Pizzas are good but my favorite is their Burrata which is placed on fresh arugula and topped with truffles and truffle oil.
Staff is great.
If you love white pizzas and the original Nepoletana, this is your spot. Their truffle pizza nobile uses a bottled truffle, is definitely not for for the snobs, definitely hits a sweet spot.
My friends loved their salads with fresh ingredients and gnocchi is creamy heaven.
My spot for the classic while around Union Square.
Really cool Italian spot to grab some pizza and catch a soccer game. Shared a bottle of red, the meatball appetizer, and two pies (truffle mushroom-wow!) Their olive oil was delicious for dipping their house bread too. Will definitely be back again soon!
Nice place in a very touristy area. Its a nice environment, with good food (i.e. good pizza) and good wine, all at a reasonable price. Good bread (important at an italian restaurant). We also had the eggplant parmesan and arugula salad. We tried almost all of the deserts and I recommend them all!!! This is a great place to go if you are in the Union Square area and looking for a good group italian dinner.
Excellent Italian spot with a great vibe–casual but also date-night. People clearly agree because this place was packed on a Friday night for dinner. They do reservations, but none were available when we looked for day-of! Luckily, the full menu is available at the bar and counter area, and so that's where my boyfriend and I sat for dinner. We were just in the neighborhood and looking for a bite to eat, so we didn't mind at all.
Pizza is great here! There's also a good variety of entrees, pastas, salads, and sides. Food is a little over-priced for what you get ($20 for a plate of broccoli rabe and sausage), but the atmosphere makes it nice enough to handle.
Went here for dinner after my son said this was the best pizza in NYC. Gotta say it was pretty much downhill after those lofty expectations. It's a beautiful space. Pizzas are OK. We had the white 4-cheese which was good and the basic margherita with basil and another with garlic. Nothing wrong. I wasnt blown away by the red sauce or the crust of any of the pies. Service was good. Honestly, after reading some reviews here and elsewhere I was expecting to be blown away. No love affair at all, nothing wrong with it but it didnt rock me at all.
