This place is ok. I would say inside it seems like your typical bar…dark…with a bar. I went for brunch on a Saturday for their $15 bottomless brunch cocktails. Definitely no wait and I think I was the only female in there except for the waitresses..
Service was friendly enough and they let you mix what brunch cocktails you pick. I tried the O and O (Stoli Orange with orange juice). I found that to be a bit sour for my taste, the orange juice was not sweet at all. I also tried the mimosa which tasted better to me (though obviously it was the same orange juice) and finally the sparkling white wine which was normal. For entree I ordered the fish and chips which I was pleased with. The outside was fried to perfection and the fish inside was hot and flaky. The fries were also a little thicker than your average fries and were tasty. My husband first ordered the sandwich that comes with Chicken, Sausage and bacon and it was quite good. He also got to choose which side he wanted (salad, steak fries, sweet potato fries). After that he was still hungry though, so he ordered a burger and enjoyed that as well.
Overall it's an OK place if you're looking for the bar scene. They had 3 screens with sports on which is what I'm sure most people go in for anyway.
inconsistent service. However, the asian salad with grilled chicken and spring rolls was creative and amazing!
The Quick: Fantastic service and staff, great food (way above bar food standards), and very very strong drinks. What's not to love? Occasional live music upstairs, hot bartenders, and a strong happy hour crowd. Venture to the upstairs where here's additional space and seating. Enjoy!
The Damage: Happy hour has $5/$6 wines, $8 strong well drinks, and $1 oysters.
There aren't many good standard, simple bars in midtown and this is one of them. There are generous pours of wine and strong drinks for very reasonable prices. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly. It's definitely a great place to go right after work. I've not tried the food but given the previous reviews I may need to give it a shot.
Happy to find this gem in the mix of the design district. Had the corned beef which did not disappoint served with a strong yellow mustard and thick cut fries. Drinks were generous and a nice tv at the bar. Good lunch.
Conveniently located about 2 blocks from the 59th/Lex subway station, Bloom's a good option if you're looking for a laid-back brunch place. If you're thinking what I was thinking, you're wondering why anyone would choose a pub for Sunday brunch. Well, it's one of the few places in UES that isn't filled to the gills on a weekend morning. Also, the food and drinks are decent.
When my friend and I showed up, Bloom's was nearly empty. It stayed that way for most of our meal, which I didn't mind so much. Service was attentive, but not overbearing.
The brunch menu is pretty standard, and the food is good, but nothing spectacular. All brunch entrees come with one brunch cocktail, but for an extra $15pp, you can choose to have unlimited cocktails! Worth it!
Great neighborhood Irish bar with lots of Irish servers and bartenders to give an authentic feel. Named for James Joyce's Orlando Bloom there is lots of memorabilia and a more authentic Irish vibe than many other places around the city – although the actual bar itself is Formica. On summer days the doors are open and it is a great place to relax, listen to good music and have a drink with friends.
The fare is typical pub fare – no Complaints. Great Irish music – check the events listing on their website.
Typical Irish pub.
Good beer selection.
Average food. Wings were eh but my panko breaded chicken wrap was good. It was on the special's menu. Steak fries were abundant and delicious.
We sat in the table area that had a big screen on the 2nd floor showing sports. There seemed to be a patio-esqe area that overlooked the street. Bar was big enough to seat plenty of people.
Bartender was our waitress and very friendly. Loved the Irish brogue. The staff was attentive (cleaning up dirty plates, refilling water). Host downstairs was a riot.
3 beers, wings and a chicken sandwich were about $50 which is a good deal as well. ENJOY!
