Ghetto Chinese food. We've only ever had takeout, but the food we've had has been quite yummy. Very good comfort food.

Fried Chicken Wings: B
Appetizer

BBQ Spare Ribs: A-
Very juicy. Nice fat and marbling on the cuts of meat.
Fried Wanton: D
Completely tasteless. Too greasy. No flavor at all.
Steamed Dumplings: B
Too doughy.
Soup
====
Hot and Sour Soup: F
I'm not sure if they simply made a mistake or if it truly was horrendous. There was no vinegar and no pepper. No spice whatsoever. It tasted like salt water. I'm going to have to try it one more time to see if what I had was made incorrectly or if they truly have horrendous hot and sour soup. I don't recall ever giving any food an F before, so this is quite bad.
Fried Rice
========
Roast Pork Fried Rice: B+
Not very oily but still very tasty.
Shrimp Fried Rice: B
Somewhat plain.
Seafood

Shrimp w. Lobster Sauce: B-
Goopy and not much flavor. The only reason why I didn't give it a C+ is because there was actually quite a lot of shrimp, and the shrimp was pretty big.

Didn't like the flavor.
First a clarification about the rating… For all of New York, this is a 3 star location. But for east Crown Heights, it's a 4 due to the fact that the order was fast, they delivered to the door, and the food was warm upon arrive. Didn't mess the order up either, and it's on Seamless.
They have a panamanian section on the menu, which was strange but interesting. And as far as it could be determined, panamanian lo mein is just like normal lo mein but with a fried egg on top. I did not know this was a thing in Panama, but sure, why not. The lo mein itself was of the kind of dry variety, which isn't a favorite of mine, but I know people like.
The egg foo young had its typical brown gravy, but it was pretty pretty pretty pretty good. Played well with the brown rice. The General Tso sauce was way too sweet. And the black sauce with the string beans was decent.
There are plenty more Chinese places in east Crown Heights, and a lot of them suck. But until a really good one shows itself, this is a decent fall back.
I can't be wining and dining at fancy places all the time, and yes, every now and then I get a craving for General Tso's chicken that I can't shake. And that's when I turn to Golden Chopsticks, our go-to Chinese food place. I don't even have a number for any other places, that's how much we like them. The food is delivered on time and hot, and it tastes pretty good–we always get the General and its not too sweet but nice and crunchy as it should be. This review is strictly for delivery since I've only been in the physical store once, but even that was an ok experience. They get extra points for taking credit cards for phone orders and for the free soda they throw in when you order over a certain amount. A solid place.
It's amazing how one intersection changes everything.
I was looking for some quick Chinese food I can have before a summer class I was taking at Medgar Evers College. I found one place that had the bulletproof counter and no tables or seats so I ventured down Franklin Ave across Eastern Parkway. It turned into a totally different area, I was able to sit down and study while I waited for my chicken wings and fried rice. Wings were crispy and much to my surprise I had a sprinkling of veggies in my fried rice! Such a delight! Tasty food and friendly staff, excellent takeout joint in my opinion.
Most of the Chinese takeout places in this part of Brooklyn look the same: a large window facing the street, greenish neon light in the inside, a couple of formica tables. The same identical pictures of typical Chinese food dishes on light boxes that you see everywhere. A bulletproof screen and a metal door that separate the "dining" area from the kitchen. Even the menus look the same.
Most of the times the food is mediocre, with some noticeable exception in one way[1] or another. Golden Chopstick is an exception in the worst possible way.
I like Chinese food and I eat Chinese takeout regularly. I don't know this neighborhood that well, and what attracted me to this place was the cute name. Moreover, on the menu I read they have "Pananian" dishes. I have no clue what Pananian mean[2], but having something unusual on the menu usually scores points for me.
I decide to play it safe and I get an orange chicken ($5 for a "small" plate). It was just inedible: the chicken was tough and chewy, without any discernible taste, if not a lingering foul aftertaste that bothered me the rest of the night.
I hate wasting food, but this abomination went straight from my plate to the trash can.

[2] I don't think they meant Panamanian, since the Pananian dishes sound decidedly Chinese. Maybe Filipino…?
I feel like it's really difficult to screw up takeout chinese food. The recipes are well known and established and you really just have to make it within a modicum of what people expect to rate as "good".
Golden Chopstick is a weird name for a chinese restaurant to begin with. Why would you make a utilitarian eating instrument out of gold to begin with? It's a soft metal and would be unnecessarily expensive.
Or perhaps Golden Chopstick is a hint at their cooking style, since everything we had here was well fried. I ordered the usual staples of chinese food : fried chicken wings on rice and general tso's.
The fried chicken wings were ok, a bit on the overfried and dry side. The rice a little mushy but acceptable. The general tso's however was something else. It was so overfried that it went beyond crispy… it was borderline crunchy. Even slathered in sauce, every bite was met with overfried breading.
Not a great take out joint when you can't execute the staples.
Their steamed shrimp with broccoli is so delicious. I had to order it with the sauce on the side (as I eat it with brown rice). It tasted so good. Then, I ordered maybe two chicken wings on the side and they were pretty tasty as well. Their food is expensive too, so watch your wallet.
It was very clean. Both General Tso's Tofu combination and Garlic Chicken was good. It wasn't as greasy as some other chinese places.
