  1. I was excited to find Wild Brooklyn – a newly opened gluten-free-friendly restaurant in Williamsburg. Wild is certainly a walk from the subway but the inside is warm and inviting. I enjoyed the decor and atmosphere and felt as if we were eating in a vintage greenhouse. We arrived during happy hour where there were discounted house wines and house beer (the Wild Brooklyn Ale). Unfortunately those in our party that got the ale found it to be pretty flat and exchanged it for a wine…

Since I am gluten free, I ordered one of the white sauce gluten free pizzas. I'm not sure why one of the other reviewers assumed that the entire restaurant was gluten free and ate the bread at the table without checking first. As a celiac, it's unimaginable to me that someone would assume that bread is gluten free without having asked first. When my pizza did arrive, something seemed a little off.  Of course, I was so hungry that I tucked right and and didn't realize until two slices in… that my pizza shouldn't taste so sour. Turns out, it was supposed to come with cracked pepper on it but instead showed up with pickled jalapeno peppers! I brought it to the waiter's attention after I figured it out and he didn't really do anything about it. I ended up picking off the peppers to eat the rest of the pizza.

Overall, the food was not enticing enough to get me to trek back out to Williamsburg. I would give them another shot if I were in the area and hope that as they settle into their new space they work out the kinks in their kitchen.

  2. Larger portions than we anticipated, which was cool. Still a bit on the pricey side, though. Pretty quiet around 6:45 on a Thursday. The beet salad was nice, though the dressing was less than appetizing presentation-wise, and the shared portion of the pizza is generous (they basically split it into two individual pizzas). We had the mushroom truffle pizza with chicken, which was, as amazing as it sounds, unfortunately underwhelming. Not a whole lot going on in the flavor department. Service was icy and warmed up as time went on, but generally the atmosphere was a bit cold. Oh, Williamsburg! The end.

  3. Is this the best gluten free pizza I have ever had? Probably not – but the fact that GF is the standard for all of their pizzas is such a rare treat! Yes the base prices are somewhat high to begin with, but not having to factor in an additional GF crust premium for a high quality pizza is a step in the right direction.

I forget the name of the pizza I got – the menu online appears to be out of date – but it was peppers, mushrooms, goat cheese, red sauce – etc – really yummy stuff, the produce, sauce and cheese were all great quality! The crust wasn't spectacular, but it certainly wasn't as hard or gummy as some other GF pizza crusts I've had before.

We sat outside because it was a nice night, and it was a good sized patio but a bit of a weird ambiance. There was a projector and some clubby lights, the patio also was empty other than me and my friend. Seems like a cool space if they sometimes play outdoor movies, but the vibe on a Monday was a bit off.

Wild is a solid option on Bedford for some GF or vegan options.

Plus! I got a free glass of wine for checking in on Yelp – I will definitely be back. 🙂

  4. Avoid this place like the plague! One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. I was meeting 3 friends here for dinner. The place looks great decor wise and the menu was interesting.

I arrived at 7:30pm and there were zero people in the place, I walked to the garden area out back and no one there either. Bad sign I thought. I was waiting at the bar and grabbed a menu while waiting for friends. Not even a host or waiter in sight after 10 minutes of me being there. Finally I spot the waiter, host and later to be the chef too!

My friends arrive and we sit down, ordered at 8pm, 4 pizzas, then the waiter disappears again not to be seen for 20 minutes after that one of my friends goes out back and asks how long till we get what we ordered, reply was 5 minutes and defensive! We should have walked out but we were already in it by this time. 15 more minutes pass with no communication, so friend # 2 goes back to ask and reply was a few minutes, be patient we have a take out order for 40 pizzas. mmmm! My friend tells me the waiter is also the chef and at this time one other table of gusts are out in the garden.

It's now close to 9pm and I am astounded by the lack of any kind of service at all. You might say why the hell did they stay to wait for food, but it got to the stage where we were there so long we just wanted to eat. The evening was already ruined!

Finally 9pm out comes 2 pizzas, then 5 minutes later the other 2 arrived along with the waiter/chef who finally apologises and tells us he is embarrassed and he will not charge any of us for the dinner. The pizzas we $13 each and small and average tasting at best.

Truly one of the absolutely bizzare and terrible dining or lack of dining experiences ever! I cannot believe this place has been open since January 2014 and actually stayed open.

    Avoid, avoid, avoid!

  5. We were a little surprised walking in that they said there were no tables– most of them were empty. Luckily, we had a reservation!

The atmosphere was adorable and I loved that they had gluten free options for their pizzas! Great environment, prompt and kind service, and delicious food. You can't go wrong!

  6. This place was a dud. The service took a very long time, even though it was a Tuesday night and there were only 1 or 2 other tables occupied. The happy hour beer was flat, we asked the waiter if it was supposed to be very low carbonation and he said he'd never had it. I didn't come in thinking I'd get a pasta dish but they say their pasta is made in house, so I gave it a shot. My dish didn't taste dramatically different from Barilla. Fresh pasta is night and day from dry, so I was disappointed. My girlfriend got a pizza with the wrong toppings, and our waiter didn't seem to think anything was wrong. He just said "yes it is supposed to have black pepper instead of jalapeno peppers, you're right." Seems like they haven't been open long so maybe they'll get it together in the future, but I won't be around to find out.

  7. Came here a few weeks ago for brunch.

Not a bad deal for brunch, comes with a free drink. Nice sangria.

Location: super cute spot, Awesome back patio. Cute decorations.

Food: they boost for gluten free…. umm yeah. Gluten free pizza… I'm not sure if its supposed to taste like cardboard or if thats a bonus. The toppings were awesome but the bread itself was gross.

Service: It was our servers first day, so it was ok that she didn't know anything about the menu…?? That said she left for long periods at a time. I thought she went home. We had to get up to ask for more drinks and our check.

In a city with so many restaurants, I'm not sure I would ever waste my time trying this spot again.

Maybe for a drink on the patio.  It needs major work.
