“No side kimchi dishes though every table did get the spicy rice cakes and fish cakes.”

“Notable favorites –
Budae jjigae – dare i say, something in this makes it better than pocha's.
Braised pork belly – this is a LOT of pork.”

“The two dishes that stood out to me were the braised pork belly (Fatty and delicious) and the seafood pancake (my fiance couldn't get enough).”

  1. I like this restaurant because they give you these awesome spicy rice cakes as the appetizer.

My coworker and I stopped by late at night after watching a show and this was one of the best places that was open. We got some delicious flavored soju and noodles.

I made the mistake of ordering some cold buckwheat noodles, which I thought would have been perfect for the hot humid weather. But it was definitely not to my liking. There were some sliced pears thrown into the mix but it tasted more like a healthy salad than a satisfying bowl of cold noodles.

Our bill ended up being approx $55 for 2 girls…which I considered to be more of a splurge for a late night snack. But that's ok.

  2. The menu is pretty hipster and they have a "Cheetos" dish in what looks like an effort to compete with Burger King and Taco Bell. The pork belly is a standout though and everything else from the pajeon to the bulgogi japchae is really good.

  3. Last time I knew I ordered the wrong food since this place is always packed. This time, it was great.
Banana rice wine – very light and slushy
honey fried chicken with wasabi whipped cream – you don't taste the wasabi. the whipped cream is super buttery and goes along really well with the fried chicken
pork belly in rice noodle (looks like the dim sum dish) – it tasted a little weird with the not-too-smooth rice noodle.
cod roe seafood udon – amazing. i can eat it all day.
the creamy kimchi stew – not too spicy and love the crispy rice

  4. Food is great, better quality and actually not that expensive than the rest of ktown establishments

Line does get pretty and they need to manage the queue better!

Came here mainly from bo ssam and it was just ok 🙁 so sad

  5. Visited this place literally three years ago and the taste has been hovering around my memory ever since, so today I gathered my friends and decided to revisit my old memory.

We arrived like 6pm sharp and it was quickly filled with people and the line has started to form. So fortunate! Shared the crispy chicken, braised pork belly and braised chicken. My personal favorite had always been the braised chicken – the meat was very tender and has completely absorbed the sauce – well executed! The pork belly, on the other hand, was so soft that almost melt in my mouth! Not at all greasy! I loved every single dish we have ordered!

Probably will visit for the third time, definitely will be here on time to beat the crowd!

  6. One take of Take31 is all that's needed: this place is bomb. Take31 builds on traditional Korean cuisine and adds a modern touch of refinement. We tried three entrees – Korean fried chicken, braised pork belly, and braised chicken – all based on friend's recommendation, and none disappointed. The pork belly was braised to perfection – flavorful and ultra soft from the cooking process, and it almost melted in my mouth. The fried chicken was some of the best kfc that I've had. The freshly fried coating of sauce and batter had me eating without control. Finally, braised chicken was quite the treat – everything from the chicken, noodle and sweet potatoes soaked in every bit of the broth. Absolutely delicious!

Friday night tip: Do come here early, ideally before or on opening. We arrived at 6 on the dot, didn't have to wait to get seated, but parties who arrived 10 mins later waited until our service was over.

  7. A last minute dinner appointment with a friend. There was a lot of catching up between us. Haven't seen her for MONTHS. And it was entertaining to hear about her dating life. So we met up at 34th street, and I wanted to check this place out.

My friend and I came in on a Tuesday evening and to my surprise, we didn't have to wait to be seated. Unfortunately, my friend and I got the table that looked like a cheap date (an aluminum table that looked like it was placed there for extra seating rather than a set table) *sigh* 🙁

    We shared:
    Wasab Cream Chicken $12.95:
-Crispy Chicken with honey butter & whole grain mustard sauce with wasabi whipped cream.
    – The chicken was pretty dry and bland but it went well with the wasabi whipped  cream.
    – What I liked about this? the wasabi whipped cream that looked like poop. (It's so cute!!!-pokepoke-)

    Spicy Korean $20.95:
    -Seafood soup with Ramen
    -The soup base was DELICIOUS.
-The soup mainly had mussels, a couple of shrimp, and two halves of a crab.
-The staff was able to accommodate me since I'm unable to handle spicy food well, and lessened the spice.
-To be honest, there was barely any ramen… My friend did the honor of informing our server of that fact. The amount of ramen we had was equivalent to a maximum of half a pack of store-bought-ramen. You guys need to relax… It's not like we were asking for moreseafood… We honestly didn't really get much ramen in the pot! And to be honest, I could've finished this whole meal by myself and that means a lot! But thanks for not charging us extra for the ramen that you could easily get for 50 cents in the market…

And based on other people's review, they've been pretty cheap with the ramen! WHYYYYYYY?! Makes me want to bring my own ramen packet…
But anywho, I will DEFINITELY be back. That's how much I loved the Spicy Seafood with Ramen!  Plus the service was great minus the one bite of ramen!

  8. My friend suggested this place because she said it was one of her favorite restaurants. I was hesitant at first because looking at the menu it's pretty much all meat, seafood, some more meat. I need some vegetables somewhere to keep my diet balanced.

I heard this place is usually packed, just like Her Name is Han, which is apparently the sister restaurant to Take31. We came around 7pm on Monday and was able to get a seat easily. Despite being a very meat heavy restaurant I was so surprised that I ended up loving the place. Their menu isn't your typical Korean fare that you find in KTown. Everything seemed to have a twist. They don't give you banchan here, but you do get a bowl of ddukbokki.

Garlic Crusts and Spicy Crispy Chicken – My friend called this Crack Chicken. It should be renamed to that. The glaze is more sweet and not really spicy at all, but the crust is so crunchy. The chicken comes on a pile of garlic and you roll the crispy chicken in it before eating it. Seriously addicting.

Seafood Pancake – The seafood pancake was on the soft side, which normally I don't really like. For some reason I really liked the one here. It was soft without being too thick and mushy. It helped that it had lots of scallions and decent amount of seafood.

Braised Pork Belly – Extremely tender and very prettily sliced pork belly. The waiter explained you eat each piece with scallions and kimchi hidden underneath the scallions. I was trying not to eat too much pork belly, so I had to really control myself.

Nagasaki Soup – They brought this out in a huge metal pot on a burner. I wouldn't really recommend this dish though. It tasted like regular packaged ramen, but the broth was enhanced slightly with seafood. It does seem very warming if you were to have it on a cold winter day.

Our waiter was extremely nice. He noticed none of us were Korean and took his time to explain items on the menu to us and asked if we had any questions. He was pretty cute too. There was another waitress who made sure to keep our water refilled. My friend ordered the crack chicken for takeout and requested it on a separate check. Another waitress gave us our check without it being separated. Our waiter noticed and took the check away to be separated, which was very much appreciated.
