  1. Okay selection of German beers. They have popular brews like Hofbrau and Weihenstephaner. Unfortunately, they were out of a few drafts.

For dinner, I had the sauerbraten. I didn't find the beef to be succulent, and the gravy didn't have a unique flavor to it as most housemade gravies do. I liked the red cabbage side but was unimpressed with the mashed potato balls.

The best aspect of the restaurant was unquestionably the atmosphere. We went during one of the US World Cup matches; the other patrons were so energetic! There was also a tv in every direction I looked!

Surprisingly, the restaurant was understaffed despite the occurrence of the World Cup.

  2. Awesome place! Really nice interior and ambiance. Great place for a date, night out with friends or family.

Our server was very knowledgeable about the food which was great since my friend and I wanted to try a good german meal.

Overall the wine, food, service was awesome and we will definitely be back!

  3. Delicious food, very German – obviously! Great beer selection, clean restaurant, very nice staff. Loved everything. Def coming back!!

  4. There's a lot to not like about this small German bar/ restaurant.  Decor is more "Garden City" than Munich but that's not the worst of it.  Though the beer list is great, the food is pretty awful.  Souerbraten so over marinated in white vinegar it's quite unpalatable with barely any gravy.  The vinegar flavor was so overpowering, it killed any flavor the red cabbage or my Oktoberfest beer had.  Goulash tasted too smokey and nothing like its suppose to.  Pretty pricey for such poorly made food that cost more than a night out in Berlin.  Only positive note is that service is very friendly and quick.

  5. Prost?

I love Germany food, I grew up with it all my life and I've now made a personal quest to explore the menus of every German restaurant I can find my way to. Enter Prost. I've know about Prost for some time know and have even tried their Schweineflugel (a.k.a Pig Wings) at a local food festival, my hopes are high.

My wife and I walked in for dinner on a Saturday night, the restaurant was not overly crowded and we were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress. We waited briefly while they set our table. In the mean time a host came by and recommended a few tap beers for us to try, much appreciated.

Before I jump into the food at Prost let me show my due respect for the beer menu here. I'm impressed. All of my favorites on draft, Hofbrau, Spaten, and Paulaner, I'm lovin' it. All reasonably priced $7-$8

Let's talk wings, so what exactly are Pig Wings? I don't know, I may never know, but what I do know is that they are delicious! Go for the BBQ sauce on top, it's an absolute sloppy delicious tasty hot mess. Get the picture. I wish I would have ordered more of these. The closest thing I could even relate these to are the very best BBQ ribs you've ever had.

O.k., so here's where the train came off the tracks for us. My wife and I both ordered the Weiner Schnitzel entrees (breaded and fried veal cutlet served with spatzle and carrots). This is a one of our favorites at any German restaurant. Unfortunately the cutlets almost seemed like they were fried twice and the spatzle portion was so small it was really hard to appreciate. For $23.99 I had higher expectations for this plate.

As were starting to eat our Schnitzels we did notice a trend around us of tables ordering the Bavarian pretzels and sausage plates. Perhaps we delved too deep into the menu to find disappointment. IF we were to return in the future we might consider trying one of the sausage plate options.

Moving on to dessert, sadly a disappointment for me to, I ordered the Apple Strudel which was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the strudel was ok, but the ice cream was frozen solid. My wife laughed as I attempted to stab the ice cream scoop with a fork and it escaped me every time. It seemed like the ice cream was scooped earlier in the day and frozen. Seemed really weird to me.

I'm guessing this place is fine if you're looking for cold German beers on draft followed by pub-style sausage plates and Pig Wings. Sadly we went deeper into the entrees portion of the menu and found disappointment. If you choose to come here, keep it simple.

  6. Know what I love? Bier! Especially a large choice of bier on tap! Besides that, I love finding a place on Yelp that under performs in its ratings then checking it out on my own and afterwards we are all walking away with a smile on our faces after a stellar experience! Prost is that place!

Came in early on a Saturday night to celebrate my momma's birthday because she loves German food, especially Sauerbraten. Unbelievable after all our years in the area this is the first time we are checking out Prost despite it being a stones throw from our house.

We notice that menu has been scaled down some and reworked a bit from the one presented online. It is more streamlined, and perhaps more focused on the items that work best. We notice that the bier menu offers a flight of four 5oz pours. My step dad and I, decide on doing a flight, but instead of the 5oz pours we order 3 different pints over the course of meal! haha

My stepdad allowing me to order for the both of us, we get the Barrier Icculus Kölsch because I decide to go local, but with a nod to the German style Kolsch – it is a great choice! Next up we try the newly added Victor Summer Love ale mainly because I was won over by the name, but I also love it as well. It is imported from my parents now home state of Pennsylvania. We round out the evening with a Prost lager, which was refreshing light and crisp after our big meal!

Someone say SCWIENEFLUGEL!  (No seriously, how do you pronounce that?) These award winning pig wings live up to the hype with tender fall off the bone pork served like buffalo wings with carrots, celery and a blue cheese dipping sauce – amazing! With a side of housemade spaetzle and cheese that was delicious in its own right went with the wings perfectly. We also order the large Bavarian pretzel served with obatzer and mustard for dipping – it was served perfectly warmed perhaps too much salt, which is easily removed though.

Although the "apps" would have been enough to fill us we order sausages – Knockwurst for me, cheddar brats for my step dad and wife and my mom gets the Sauerbraten. The sausages are served on a perfect pretzel bun with a generous amount of shoe string fries – we went with the sauerkraut and red cabbage over the peppers and onions. Damn tasty! When it comes to Sauerbraten, my mom has specific expectations and the gravy did not hit the mark for her although she though it was delicious when she combined her bites with the red cabbage.

For dessert we order the flourless black forest chocolate cake, which comes out with a candle and a glass of honey liquor. We were all puzzled about how they knew it was my mom's birthday and later found out one of the owners, Jim saw my mom's Facebook check in and took it upon himself to add the birthday touch and complimentary drink! Classy and made us all feel great as we tried to figure out which one of us said something!

Although not an entirely perfect experience I upped the star power here to 5 to make up for other reviews that seem overly harsh. This place is reasonable priced, with perfectly poured beers, delicious well made food and excellent friendly service – what more could you ask for?

  7. So a Italian guy and a Mexican guy walk into a German Pub for St. Patty's Day..
It's not a joke, I swung by a few months ago. Prost! Solid German bar in the Garden City area.

I stopped in with my buddy on St Patty's for a few cold ones.

Brah, you're coming here for the beer!
Lotsa Hofbrau flavors on tap as well as Murphy's Irish Stout?
    Ich danke Ihnen

Nice ambiance, great beers on tap and German sausages.
    Did I just describe Heaven?

  8. I have been here twice…hoping by the third visit I can make a better review.

The first experience was absolutely awesome, the second was quite a disappointment.

I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it was pretty bad, though they did rectify our check.

Food is good, but don't expect to see everything on the website on their physical menu there.

Definitely try the pig wings….there are as good as all the reviews and ravs!!
