  1. A wonderful cheap and relatively healthy option for lunch if you're walking around the area. The stuff I've had here is typically much fresher and tastier than most carts I've visited (excluding Halal Guys). Plus, though the space isn't nice by any means, there are plenty of tables and chairs so you don't have to do that awkward pita eating squat on the sidewalk.

I got a HUGE falafel plate for just $7 and the falafel was piping hot and tasted fresh. They stick with the typical ingredients – hummus, pickles, cabbage – but all of it tasted very high quality. It's definitely a ton of bang for your buck and a supremely satisfying lunch option!

  2. I live one block away. Dangerous. Food is good, prices are great! No ambiance to speak of but the babaganouj is on point. Pita bread could be better. Falafel yum. Their desserts are also pretty good. I'm Turkish so I am a pretty good judge of middle eastern flavor. Enjoy! And as for the comments about service, I really have nothing but nice things to say about the guys that work here. It isn't a place where you go and expect great service either. One of the best neighborhood spots!

  3. We went here for lunch/dinner last weekend. Food was OK. I had lamb shawarma with all the salads. It was a wrap and pretty decent. The gentleman behind the counter wasn't very friendly but I can leave with that. The place was quite busy so it should have some regulars but not the type of place for me to go back. Again a decent place but not amazing!

  4. Love this place. Usually come here after I've had too much to drink and/or when I'm starving before a gig, but it's always solid. I get the falafel sandwich, those fried chickpea-doughs are the perfect amount of crisp and full of flavour, and the pickled onions mix in with the tahini sauce in perfect matrimony. Don't forget the pickles – they are magical, and you must get them. Staff is always friendly, and let you add jerusalem salad and sometimes babaganoush. You really can't beat $4, especially for the freshness, quality, and quick service. Go here now!

  5. Ranks as one of the top cheap eats in Williamsburg! In just the last week, I've had Oasis twice when I was hunkered down at the Starbucks across the street to study. This provided a quick, tasty lunch without hurting the wallet or bogging you down before going back for another couple of hours at Starbucks. I've had the the following:

    – Lamb kebab sandwich: At $6, this is a steal for big chunks of grilled lamb loin. When you order it, they warn you that it would take about 10 minutes because they pull the metal kebab stick out of the fridge and throw it on the grill. This left the lamb juicy and tender, perfect char to complement the gamey lamb, and piping hot as it's stuffed into the pita.

    – Chicken kebab sandwich: Same tender, juicy chunks of chicken breast, deep grill marks without drying it out, and generously stuffed into the pita. If you're in the mood for something lighter than lamb, this is a great option.

    – Shawarma sandwich: I actually really liked this one. I felt the slices of shawarma each had a great amount of crust to it so that the charred flavor was distributed throughout. They really generously stuffed this sandwich and the meat wasn't excessively oily like other places are with their shawarma. This also wasn't the same as gyro meat that can sometimes look like mystery meat to me. My boyfriend preferred the lamb kebab but I might be torn on this one.

    – Falafel sandwich: This sandwich is stuffed with plump, crispy falafels. It's good and definitely beats out Mamouns by far. The accompaniments are the same as their other sandwiches, which is actually very generous and good compared to the wilted lettuce you get at Mamouns when comparing cheap falafels.

    – Babaganoush: We also ordered a small side of babaganoush that I thought was delicious. There was a great deep grilled eggplant flavor with a little acidity to balance it out. I loved throwing this into my chicken kebab sandwich or tearing some of my pita off to dip in. It was only $3.50 and definitely worth getting. My boyfriend preferred Cafe Mogador and Dar 525's baba to Oasis, but I surprisingly thought this was just on par with Cafe Mogador. Dar will always be my number 1 baba because of the chunky strands of eggplant that is mixed in with the finely pureed mix.

The sandwiches are accompanied with lettuce, red cabbage, spicy pickles, tahini, and hot sauce. I'd ask for more hot sauce next time because I liked the kick and they only squeeze a little bit on top. The pickles also provided an acidic spicy zing that went really well with the sandwich. The only qualm is that the place does kind of smell like soap and the pitas aren't heated up. They come a little on the cold, dry side. If they only threw it on the grill for a little bit on each side, it might just make this that much better. Otherwise, for the price and convenience, I'd return again and again.

  6. Come here all the time for a quick lunch, especially the falafel sandwich $4.00 (vegetarian!). Stuffed to the brim with falafel, pickled cabbage, and hot sauce… HALF of the sandwich can feed my average 5'6" self. While saving the rest for snacks later!

Cash only, no tax, it's never crowded during lunch. Probably because there's always a quick turnaround and people are coming in and out. Not great for big parties as the tables are tiny, but they do have counter seating facing the windows.

Good value, will come back for falafel plates and shawarma.. all under $10!

  7. Dang, this place was dope. Cash only and it gets packed, but totally worth it and you get a ton of food for the price. I got the chicken shawarma plate with hummus and it was out of this world. I even had leftovers to take home and eat later in the night (with plenty of pita bread). Solid place, def worth checking out.
