  1. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food and this place is super close to my apartment so I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to check this place out.  Still kind of deciding how I feel about this place.  Ordered the shawarma platter and grape leaves for dinner last night.  Everything was fine.  The ingredients were fresh and I didn't feel like I had gained ten lbs after eating it (which is how I feel after getting the chicken platter from the shawarma food truck on Broadway).  But there was just something lacking in the flavor department.  The grape leaves were pretty good, but it's hard to mess those up.  I'm willing to give it another go at some point, but for now I'm not entirely on board.

  2. The exterior features a small run in the mill homestyle type of look and inside it appears to be nothing more than a low budget try of a restaurant. I'm not one to let looks judge the food so I went ahead and got a lamb shawarma and albeit it was regdeg gyro meat, it was good. It was a great quick snack between me and my best bud and the ingredients were wholesome and fresh.

  3. My wife is Israeli and she says this place's "Jerusalem" falafel is very good. As with most things — I defer to the lady. What she said. And for the record, yes, I've put a few in my mouth over the years and I love them. They are $8.50 after tax regardless of what the menu says. Incredible mix of salad fixings and sauces stuffed inside a pita with freshly made falafel. It's to-die-for in my opinion. (FYI Google Maps labels this place as Jerusalem Pita House, but the sign says it's called Pita Hot.)

  4. I walked in here on a cold winter day after seeing the raving reviews on yelp. I was greeted with a warm welcome and friendly smile. After much thought, I decided to get the combo meat with three meats (lamb, chicken, beef), gyro, and jerusalem tea. It was the first time I've ever had Jerusalem tea; it was delicious and really warmed me up! I don't recommend the tea if you aren't a fan of ginger. The platter was amazing! It was probably the best platter I've ever had. My favorite meats are the chicken and lamb. The cook was also kind enough to throw in a few extra sides for me, and they were delicious as well! I've had my share of rock hard falafels, but this spot serves fresh and delicious falafels! I would definitely come back again for the terrific service and yummy food!

  5. I love this place! If I want something quick to go come here and the portion size makes it all the more satisfying. I love the chickpea balls and the white and red sause are really good. The salad in the pita bread is a bit of an odd touch but it can make the meal feel more refreshing. The staff is super friendly and they are efficient in making the food quickly. It is a good option for people who don't eat meat and enjoy some cultural food. The hummus is super amazing! The thought of the warm pita with the hummus just makes me happy! They give you a little to try everytime.

  6. I came here a week ago with a friend and got the chicken shawarma platter. I believe my friend got the chicken kabab platter or something like that. I was heavily disappointed with the lack of flavor in the chicken. No flavor whatsoever. Even the sauces could not account for this missing attribute. The food was not to my liking and I didn't really want to finish it. I just don't like wasting food so I forced myself to finish it. It cost me around $9.

I won't be coming back here. The positives were that the people serving me were very pleasant and they decorated the interior of the store very well– there are many pictures of Jerusalem and various places around the world. It looks really cool and makes you look around while you wait for the food.

I love that this place is open late and they serve food at reasonable prices. The workers seemed very nice as well. It was $5.50 for a falafel and hummus sandwich. The ingredients were very fresh but the hummus was tasteless and the falafel was just okay. I might come again and try their shwarmas.

  8. Really good Mediterranean food.  Their falafel is so good and the owner is really nice.  He will even give you samples while you wait for your food.  I had the kofta sandwich which i thought was really flavorful..  I told him halfway of him cooking my food that i forgot to tell him no onions.  He told me it was okay and restarted my order again even though I told him it was okay.  I thought that was really nice of him.  The second time, i just want falafel and rice even thought it wasn't on the menu, he did it anyway.  The falafel tastes very very delicious, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside.  HIs homemade pita chips is really good too.   It is a bit pricier here, about $10 for lunch compared to surroundings restaurant.  However, I think the quality of food and the excellent service is well worth it.
