  1. Came here with my friend for dinner since it was close to the airport.  Had good reviews and a big parking lot.  That's already a huge plus in my book.

It was around 6:30 or so, and there was one table in the back with 4 ladies, and the rest of the place was empty.  Not a good sign, but hey it's more or less the beginning of dinner service and it's a Thursday afterall.  No worries.

Water came pretty quickly and so did warm pita with olive oil and balsamic.  The silverware and plates were a bit on the dirty side though.

Ordered a large greek salad, greek sausage, grilled octopus and a chick souvlaki sandwich.

The salad was okay, some of the greens should have been picked out…  The sausage and sandwich were fine.  The octopus is my major complaint.  It was diced up octopus with a bunch of onions.  Not really what I would expect for $17.  I expected the normal big 2 or 3 octopus tentacles.  But no, I was highly disappointed.  Not only that, but the octopus itself, it had this grainy texture and well tasted absolutely bland.  I was actually surprised that other reviews mention the freshness of the octopus, because this was definitely not the case for me.  It was so bad we actually asked the waitress if the octopus was fresh or frozen, yes we tried to Gordan Ramsey them.  The waitress said that is was fresh and walked away.

Additionally the service was not that great, there were only 2 tables, and the waitress failed to refill water, failed to check in on us regarding the food.

If I lived close by, I would not come here let alone actually drive here.  There are obviously far better options for Greek food in the area.

  2. Came into a pretty empty restaurant where the only patrons were an elderly couple  who appeared to be sweetly having a date.

Service was okay, perhaps could've stopped by more often, especially given there was really no one else in the restaurant.

4 choice cold appetizer- ordered the hummus, potatoes and garlic, red pepper, and the tzaziki. All good, distinct savory and great over the warm pita

Calamari – nicely battered and fried for a crispy bite

Gyro platter- plentiful, nicely seasoned gyro meat. Side salad was refreshing. Fries could've been a little better. A bit oily and moist.

Pork chops- huge. Heard they were tender and nicely seasoned

Pork souvlaki – looked good, grilled well and aptly seasoned. Brother had the lemon potatoes which looked very enticing. No complaints.

Overall a really good experience. Best part was that, bc the restaurant was so empty that our dishes came out pretty quickly and tasted like extra effort was put into making them great!

  3. We were unimpressed with delivery. The taramasalata was pretty close to inedible, and it's a spread I've tried at more than a half dozen Greek places in the city. The sausage dish was tasty but the other food we had was greasy and not very flavorful.

  4. They ran out of lemon potatoes! Sad face. My aunt treated us out to dinner our last night visiting NY. This place is one of her favorites for various reasons: huge portions, grilled healthy cooking, lots of parking! During my week stay in the Empire State, I found out the hard way street parking is impossible.

We dined in on a Saturday prior to 8pm and it was packed! Good thing a table opened up soon enough and we were greeted by white butcher paper lined linens, iced water, plus tons of warm, soft & fresh pita bread. Seemed never ending because we ordered the large 4 dip app and my chicken souvlaki plate arrived with some.

4 dips: garlic yogurt Tzatziki was more sour than I liked.

    Hummus– yum, no issues

Eggplant– the others liked it, not my preference, prepared well though

Kopanisti: Red bell pepper, jalapeño, feta spread– don't let the red color fool you, it's not spicy!

We ordered fried calamari; I've had better, wasn't seasoned. By the time my chicken souvlaki arrived I was stuffed! Good portion, comes with green salad, rice or lemon potatoes, which they ran out of. Never will I be able to try any.

We had freshly grilled seabass– delicious! But then again it's one of my favorite fishes to eat. Squeeze some lemon on top and I'm done.

The gyro plate looks good! From the looks of it, the pita was either underneath the mountain of hand carved lamb/beef mix or nonexistent. It also arrived with green salad and I think rice?

Just a note, the side of rice for chicken kebabs and salmon is huge! Or for any entree large enough to have its own plate

Family friendly and expect large groups dining in during weekends, sipping on bottles of wine.

Staff is super busy (in a rush) but accommodating.

  5. I really liked this place the atmosphere , the customer service, the food, the looks of this place.

I'm be coming back. A bit pricy but I guess they gotta make that money.

The grilled octopus and calamari were real good and fresh.

    The gyro was good.

My wife didn't like falafel sandwich because coriander seeds were making it taste bitter.

The for small hummus and salad mix wad real good.ask had really fresh flavors. And healthy rate while eating them.

    Good stuff.

  6. Yummy Gyro! Delicious sauce! Tons of MEAT!!!! Well worth $7. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out for their Gyros. The platter I feel is over priced at $15 (specially since its in Queens).

FYI: Gyros are a mix of beef and lamb.

  7. Located deceptively in the middle of a shopping plaza or center, Plaka is a divine Greek restaurant.  Each time, I visit, I am always pleasantly surprised that I am too full to contemplate dessert.  This meal, I came to try the seafood combination with my hubby.  We couldn't stop talking about it.  Extremely high on yummy factor. The quality of their fish, the freshness of the octopus, and the juiciness of the shrimp.  It was right then and there that we decided that we were going to have them cater our party.

  8. First off, I spent a summer abroad in Greece. I know what authentic Greek food tastes like. Fresh, healthy, savory and delicious basically.
I found this restaurant yelping on a gloomy weekend and I was a bit upset I hadn't found it sooner.
We have ordered three times so far. The tzaziki sauce is so good. I enjoy their chicken soulvaki gyros and the platter.
Only thing I didn't enjoy was the overpowering olive oil in my salad one time. The salad was drenched entirely in it.
Overall, thumbs up to my new fix when I am craving Greek.
Also, it is a bit hard to order the phone. I am not sure if they hang up or the connection is bad..
