  1. 8/10: Being in the Upper East Side, I feel as though there is a lack of the cultural vibrance seen throughout a lot of the rest of the city. So when I was exploring my Indian food options in the area I was a bit disappointed in what I was finding. However, after trying the food at OM I have been coming back here regularly for take out since it is close by. The service is always good, it's a clean and pleasant atmosphere and most importantly the food has been consistently good regardless of what I have ordered.

  2. Ordered take out from here for lunch – 3.5 stars

    Pros:
    – Got the OM Special – appetizer, entree, plain naan for $15.95 before taxes
    – The chicken tikka masala and basmati rice were tasty – we were craving Indian food and this definitely hit the spot
    – The plain naan was pretty large (ate a bit of it and it wasn't too floury)
    – Samosa looked crispy (couldn't get to it – the entree filled me up)

    Cons:
    – Customer service is horrible – the man (Owner?) who answered the phone was rude and inattentive; he proceeded to answer another phone call while I was asking him questions; in addition we called back to ask why the food didn't come with utensils/napkins – apparently you have to request them (not once did the same man apologize), for $20 a meal give me my utensils!
    – Tip: they open at 11:30AM but the chef doesn't come in until noon so the food will be not prepared till 12:30PM

  3. I decided to order from OM for dinner delivery while at work. For delivery food, this was 5 stars based on a combination of quality and price.

I got the dinner special which is $15.95. I couldn't believe this price in NY – amazing! You get an appetizer, an entree, plus naan, raita, mango chutney, and green spicy sauce on the side.

I chose the chicken tikka masala as my appetizer – it came with two medium size pieces of chicken with some lemon. It was better than your average takeout chicken tikka.

For the entree I got the bhindi masala. It's an okra dish that I've never had before. Maybe not my favorite Indian dish ever, but the quality of it was good and it wasn't overly greasy. I think next time I'd go with my usual veggie curry or korma.

The naan was good and hot and the raita and other dips made it a big, filling meal. This will be a definite repeat at this price and great quality.

Summary: Good food, very cheap for a multi-course delivery dinner in NY.

  4. I have only ordered takeout from here and we've never been disappointed.  I usually have the yellow lentil dal and it's excellent.  Perfectly spiced and a generous portion that feeds me for 2 meals.  Other popular menu items in my house include: chicken tika masala, samosas, chicken soup.  Delivery is always prompt.  We love this place.

  5. Om… Nom Nom.

Great Indian food, with friendly service and reasonable delivery time. Had Delhi masala daal (yellow lentils) and rice, with a side of garlic naan – soft and just the right thickness. Plus the amazing kacsori chaat side  (chick peas, potatoes, yogurt based sauce with crispy add on) – the various Indian sauces and a little cup of mango chutney came with the meal. Everything was delicious, and enough food for more than one meal.

    Highly recommend.

  6. I came here to eat-in. This is a very small restaurant with not a lot of privacy or nice ambiance! Delivery guys wearing bike helmets kept on walking past our table. I ordered the vegetable biryani- safe choice right? It was way too spicy, I couldn't eat it. I've never heard of vegetable biryani being spicy. I don't think I would come back here, there are other similar options with better food.

  7. After our meal, our server asked us to please review them on Yelp if we enjoyed our experience. It was Yelp that led us here to begin with! I like it when a proud business politely asks for a review on Yelp. As a frequent Yelper who takes the time to write and read reviews, I appreciate businesses that appreciate Yelpers and takes their ratings on Yelp seriously, good or bad.

We came in five deep and ordered a smorgasbord of food, each different and each well enjoyed. Four stars for food. I hold back from a five-star rating only because I personally prefer fattier pieces of meat in my Lamb Tikka Masala with a creamier sauce. I would have also preferred spicier Saag dishes. The mint chutney though, to die for!

What pushes this place to a solid five star rating is the service. It was superb. We came in a group of five and ordered two orders of the Vegetable Samosas (two come per order) with the intention to share the four samosas. Five samosas came to the table. Our server adjusted the order so that we could each have our own. The little things. One person from the group didn't see her favorite entrée on the menu. She asked about it and they made it. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. We all rolled out of there very happy.

  8. My favorite Indian place on the UES.
They have an amazing delivery/takeout deal where you get an app, an entree, rice, and naan for $15.95. When I lived on the UES this was my go to place. The portion was enough for two people share or to save for another meal.

That being said, we had to go back while visiting NYC and for the first time we dined in the restaurant.

Our dine in order that day
    – chicken korma (5/5). I have yet to find a place that can make it like om. Perfect blend of spices, nice creamy finish, juicy chicken. It's delish!
    – samosas (4/5). You can't really mess up potatoes and peas wrapped in dough and deep fried. But the mint sauce and chutneys is what really makes this dish a favorite!
    – saag paneer (4/5).

Other dishes I have had worth mentioning include kachori chat (5/5 amazing!) and the chicken tikka masala (4/5).
