  1. Due yourself a favor and come here hungry so you can try multiple things or make a plan to come here a few times to try out all their options.
We partook in a Simitwich and a Simit Ring. We are All about gluten today! There are salads available for you non-gluten peeps. We choose the multigrain bread for our tuna salad Simitwich properly called the Bodrum. The bread was soft, delicious and the perfect size (maybe 5 inches long). They topped the yummy tuna salad with cheese, cucumber and tomatoes. We also indulged in their original bread Simit Ring. I should have taken a pic so you can see it but we ate it too fast. We choose to have ours with smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomato and onion between the ring. We washed it all down with their homemade iced Turkish tea. It was so good I think I might get some hot Turkish tea to go since to is a cool, windy day here in NYC.  Plus we bought a pastry (like a bear claw) for our snack later and some hot tea would be quite perfect with it.

Extra notes: Their decor is very cute! I love the mix of marble, wood, and metal (silver, brass & cooper).  The staff is crazy friendly!!! Wireless is available, but no toilet.

  2. It's breakfasts like these that make me really miss Turkey.

I got a wheat simit traditional style with kasserie cheese, tomatoes, and olive tapenade. So savory but not very heavy. Hit the spot.

I also had a coffee which was delicious.

    Glad it's in my area!

  3. I popped into Simit + Smith for a quick bite in between meetings down the street at Gotham Hall. The selection is pretty sparse, but I can't say enough good things about what I had: a simit with feta, red peppers and tomato. Super delicious, not terribly heavy, and quick to boot.

The iced coffee was probably the best part of the experience. So refreshingly rich, and the kick of energy I needed to get me through the day.

  4. Made the mistake of getting a salad here. For the record, I made my own salad with romaine, lamb, cucumbers, onion, feta, olives, and tzatziki dressing. The romaine was browned and the lamb was cold and flavorless. The olives still had their pits in them, which is totally weird to be putting them in salads. I ended up throwing most of it out because it was so bland and sad looking. My friend had the Sheperd salad and also left most of it unfinished because it was devoid of any flavor.

Thankfully we also got a cup of spinach artichoke dip, which comes with a generous bag of simit chips for under $4! This might legit be the best deal in NYC. Unlike the salad, the spinach artichoke dip is full of flavor. The manager was nice enough to give us a free sample simit and I really liked the texture, very soft and chewy on the inside with a crunchy but not too hard outside. Tasted great dipped into the spinach artichoke.

Definitely coming back for a simitwich, since these baked rings are clearly the star here. I may have also found my go-to snack spot for when I don't feel like a full meal at lunch, will be stopping by to grab a simit and dip!

  5. Totally a solid breakfast when you've had too many bagels (if such a thing is possible) but still want a perfect circle of carbs. If you don't want a circle, you can opt for the rectangular and equally tasty simit squares. The grilled cheese is just straight up american cheese so it'd be kind of nice if they had options.
