  1. I've ordered in from here a few times.

They're always on time and the food is always hot, fresh and tasty.

My Indian food go-to is vegetable jalfrezie and their's is pretty good.  Not the best I've ever had (the sauce is just a little oily for me) but solid and well worth the price.  Also, they don't carry brown rice-which makes me sad-but the basmati rice is good.

I definitely recommend the mango lassi-such a great summer treat!

So far, this is my place for Indian in this hood.  Still keeping an eye out though.

  2. The stars are not an indictment on the food. This is, by far and away, the best Indian in this area of Brooklyn–Heights, Carroll Gardens, Park Slope, Gowanus, Cobble Hill.

The problem, as other reviewers have noted, is the delivery service. It is HORRENDOUS. I don't know what the hell is happening, but it's plummeted downhill. Tonight, they forgot one of my items. They said they would resend it. It never came. When I called to ask where it was, they told me I "refused the order." I have no idea how that's possible, considering I've been packing for a trip all night.

These guys are dishonest and simply don't understand what customer service is. I'm done with Masala Grill, permanently. No apologies, no attempts to fix things. Instead, they pretend they sent the item out.

I can't come here anymore, and it's a damn shame.

  3. 3 and a half, really. 4 for food and 3 for service. My friend thought we might need a reservation on a Saturday night and called. Here is the conversation as related to me..

Friend: Hi. I'd like to make a reservation for 2 people tomorrow night.
Man on phone : Ok, thank you.
Friend: Wait! Don't you need my name?
Man on phone: No, that's ok. We'll hold a table for you.

Whaaaat? How can you hold a table for someone if you don't have their name? Anyway, my friend and I arrived here for dinner a bit after 9:00 last night and the restaurant was empty. It was also freezing cold. Now, I like it cold, but this was like a freezer. It did gradually warm up…a few more people came in, perhaps one of them complained. Anyway, the enormous menu made it difficult to choose dishes, but we finally decided on Gobi Manchurian, The undescribable appetizer, chicken samosa, chicken Kahani (or something like that..the waiter recommended it), Saag paneer and garlic naan. Everything was very tasty…especially the samosa and the Gobi. The chicken in the main course was a bit overcooked, but tasty. The saag paneer was one of the better ones I've had, but not the best. But, overall, a very tasty and filling meal. The real issue I have with this place is the service. The couple of waiters who dealt with us were pleasant enough but did not speak English very well. One thought I had asked for tea when I hadn't (and it's not my enunciation…I'm a trained opera singer and speak very clearly). We didn't finish all of our food because we wanted to share a dessert, so we asked one of the waiters to pack up what was left to go….3 times, because he didn't seem to understand what we wanted. He brought the check with the food, never having asked us if we wanted anything else. We then said that we wanted to share a pistachio kulfi. He and the other waiter looked very confused as to what to do, since the check had already been brought. They kept reaching for the check and then not taking it. They brought the kulfi, which was delicious and then one of them finally said that they wouldn't charge us for it, which was very nice of them. The prices were very reasonable and the food is good. And I don't want to sound like one of those nasty Americans who complain that everyone should speak perfect English. I'm a lover of multi-culturalism. But it would be helpful for all of us and the restaurant, and they would avoid all the mis-communication, if the servers here spoke English a little better. Perhaps this is the issue with the very low ratings for delivery.

  4. I came here tonight for date night. My boyfriend and I love Indian food – we eat it at least once a week.

To start, the service here is a complete mess. People were just waiting around for their checks, us included.

    The food:

I had the shaih korma (chicken) – the sauce and chicken were good. However, it had this underlying smoke taste? Something I've never tasted before. Wasn't crazy about it.

The naan (garlic) was ok. It tasted like it was sitting out for an hour. Not a fan.

Eggplant appetizer – sweet and sour. Decent. The sauce is similar to A1 sauce.

I won't be back, but this place isn't "bad". It just wasn't great.

  5. – Adequate, although not the best massaman curry (My go to Indian dish)
    – But, the lunch specials are good and very filling
    – Samosas are HUGE

  6. We order from here at least once a week and sometimes two.  My husband is Indian, but I am also picky when it comes to Indian food.  We both love this place like its our job.  Never had a bad dish and at this point between us we are close to having tried at least half of them.

  7. Just ate lunch there with my sister and kids. My son loved the samosas. But honestly it was a little bland for me. It wasn't spicy AT ALL. It is obviously geared towards Americans. They really need to add some spice to their food. It doesn't have an Indian flavor at all. I tasted the vegtables and meat and didn't taste any spices.

  8. Another one of my favorite spots to go to before a Brooklyn nets game, it's a fairly small restaurant but I've never had a problem grabbing a seat but maybe that's because I've always been here before 7pm on a weeknight, then start you off with some crispy things called baper with a few dipping sauces, I've also had the naan which is soft like bread and tasty, for an entree I had chicken mahkni, it is served with rice, some kind of beans and sauce and veggies on the side, the chicken itself is very tender and is in a creamy tomato based sauce, it was great, I've definitely gone here multiple times
