I came here for lunch occasionally for their lunch special. You get 2 slices with a foundation drink for $5. Their plain slice pizzas are not the best but they are not horribly bad either. I am quite fond of their garlic knots. It is quite unusually shaped but has the perfect amount of oil and garlic. On the side note, be sure to double check your tab. I ordered one of the garlic knots my first time [they are priced for 1pc and 3 pcs] but they guy gave me two pieces instead. And the cashier tried charging me for 3 pcs, when I told them I ordered and wanted only one. I didn't notice it at the time, as they boxed up your food for you while I was filling my foundation drink. I got a mean dirty stare when I told them.
Its nice to be able to get a gluten free slice insteada buyin the whole pie. Even tho gf pizza pies r usually small size. Their spjnach mushroom square is yummo in my tummo.
I reeallllly wanted to love this place. And it wasn't terrible but it was literally "meh". I loved that they had pizza by the slice but at 5.00 it's probably more cost conscious to get a whole pizza. The pizza itself was way too saucy and not enough cheese so it was kind of a messy, doughy, saucy mess to eat. Crust was crumbly and dry. I got a GF strawberry shortcake and it was just … not great. Fake strawberry preserves, dry cake, I didn't even finish it.
They also do not have GF mozzarella sticks like their website says. Which is the only reason I went there. 🙁 If I had no other choice I'd eat there again but would prefer not to.
2.5. Lots and lots of grease. The ring on my finger literally slipped off as I was trying to towel off my hands with a napkin. Decent variety and seating.
Something is up when a pizzeria in the heart of the Flatiron District during lunch is 1/3 full and no lines.
My hunt for a decent pizza place in the area continues…
I'm pretty sure my office is singlehandedly keeping this place in business. I've worked there for about two weeks and they've ordered probably 100 pies in that time (not even an exaggeration).
Maybe it's something about the pies not having gluten, but their pizza is way too floppy. Their square pies are floppy. Their round pies are floppy (which is terrible to eat in a meeting if you're standing up and your slice has multiple toppings on it). You can't even fold the pizza in half, which is sacrilege, I tell you! Sacrilege!
I will say that I'm impressed that they're able to do so much catering.
Can't comment on the prices since I haven't paid for my own pizza here (nor do I ever intend to).
OMG inexpensive tasty pizza, with gluten free options for my glutarted friends -I'm in! In all seriousness, this place is great, especially if you have Celiac's. Even their regular pizza is good.
This review is for their gluten-free pizza, which I think is pretty amazing. In fact, there are a ton of gluten-free options at Mozzarelli's ranging from the pizza to pastas to different cookies and cakes. I've had some bad gluten-free pizza before, but Mozzarelli's GF dough is a perfect consistency. Their GF slices are more like square flatbreads rather than the triangular slices and average about $4-5 a piece. My faves are the spinach & mushroom and the margherita. Knocking off one star just because the pizza can sometimes be a bit inconsistent (one time the margherita pizza was a bit dry with little tomato sauce, next time it was fine).
For New York Pizza, I'd say meh.
It isn't run by Italians whom strive for quality in their pie. It's run by employees whom seem to just be rushing pies in and out, but not taking the time to get it right.
The pizza is ok, so-so crust, few toppings, and pretty flavorless. It's good if you're in a hurry and want something cheap.
I don't think the owners really want to change it as it's packed during lunch time. It seems like a good business model, but not a especially great product. If it works for them, good. I prefer higher quality with more time put into it. Time seems to equal passion sometimes.
