Tried a grilled cheese at Smorgasburg and loved it! I think the name was "Classic with a Twist". Loved the dijon mustard, but couldn't really taste or see the caramelized onion. It would be great if they could maybe have a Tabasco bottle available for those of us who like a little spice. And if they could offer an option to add avocado! Just a couple tips. I did appreciate that the staff preparing the sandwiches wore gloves (personal pet peeve as a former foodservice employee when restaurant staff prep food without gloves), but the sandwich cutter/prepper/distributor could have been a little more attentive to the sandwiches and not texting on his phone.
We visited Milk Truck during the Parked! food truck festival in the summer of 2012.
The menu was pretty restricted because of the festival and we were ordering one sandwich to split, plus he doesn't like tomatoes, so we had the Milk Truck Classic with sauteed mushrooms added along with honey cardamom iced tea and an Arnold Palmer because it was a gorgeous hot day and we were thirsty. I saw several people order the Market Sandwich, which looked really delicious and made me jealous.
The sandwich was crispy and the cheese was perfectly melty. When I make my own grilled cheese I like to stuff in the toppings but that would have been awfully messy to eat sitting on the curb, so I'm glad they didn't. The drinks were really delicious, I'm glad we decided to order them instead of just grabbing a bottle of water somewhere.
Should we ever come across Milk Truck again on another trip to NYC I'd love to try some of their other sandwiches, but even if you're just in the mood for a plain ol' grilled cheese you'll get something you probably wouldn't get at home if you order it here.
I ordered the Grilled Blu Cheese Bacon Sandwich which may be the only I didn't give The Milk Truck a lower rating. In terms of food it was definitely yummy. The pickles were a great idea but the execution didn't quite play out. Because of the heat, they ended up losing some of the tang that would have cut through the blue cheese and buttered bread.
When vetting out food trucks, I prioritize efficiency on par with taste and price. In this case, it took an obscene amount of time to make a grilled cheese sandwich. I understand it's a craft and all but still.
I had the grilled cheese when they were in Chelsea, and it was absolutely delicious! Mmm it was so hot and crispy, which was perfect for a cold, wintry day!
Was in need for lunch at my new work place. The milk truck satisfied my need for cheesy goodness! I don't remember the name of the sandwich but it was good. Sadly it was a bit too salty for my liking. Overall I don't mind a second trip.
Oh man this mac and cheese was incredible. Probably some of the best I've ever had.
Don't pay $6.50 for mac n cheese. I'd rather go to trader joe's and get the mac n cheese for half the price and double the quantity.
The mac n cheese was nice and warm but it was not fantastic. I kinda wish the pasta was the smaller macaroni typically used in mac n cheese instead of the large penne or whatever pasta it is that they used.
It was nice, hot and creamy but I wish it was more cheesey. Yes, I love cheese.
New fan. Tried the Classic grilled cheese with caramelized onions at Smorgasburg. Will be back again to try the mac & cheese.
