  1. Came here for a mid-afternoon pit stop.  Amazing friendly service but pretty clueless as to how to make a cup of tea.  After a lot of messing around we finally succeeded, and thoroughly enjoyed our tea, with a square of chocolate.

  2. Hmmmmmmmm……

It's nice. Overpriced, for sure, but nice. A very adorable little cafe for sure.

When I visit New York I always stay right across the street so I find myself here quite a bit, mostly because the boy lives in a shack in which no hot water boiler, tea, nor any sort of pantry exists.

The coffee/tea/drink/barista selection is approximately like everywhere else. Not groundbreaking.

I've tried almost all their empanadas. They're alright. The seafood one though I always get – the one labeled  crab and shrimp? Fake crab, nice shrimp, and super extremely garlicky. Boo on the fake crab, but I personally am a huge sucker for garlic so I still get it. If you don't like garlic, or are on a first date here and don't want to come off like a amateur vampire hunter, I'd leave it be.

Their pastries and food are all delicious, yes, but if I felt like spending 20 dollars on a snack and a drink I'd just go to Dominique Ansel right down the street.

  3. Stopped by for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised with the good service and delicious coffee. Three empanadas for $12 but I didn't really enjoy the spinach and egg one. Other than that, great service and good food!

  4. The theme of this cafe is so adorable! So many crowns, and frogs, and frogs in crowns everywhere!!

I wanted to try something a little different, so I asked the barista what coffee drink they were known for. He recommended the coconut latte – and although I've never been a huge fan of coconuts, I decided why not! It's the new year anyway, I should try something new.

Well, be forewarned. It's not your typical latte. Per the barista, it is made of coconut milk, coconut water, and a shot of espresso. He did NOT tell us that there would also be coconut chunks and flakes floating around in the drink! Don't assume that you'll be able to just take a huge swig of your latte, because I promise you, you will choke on something. (We forgot to warn our friend and when she had a taste of mine, she was sputtering and coughing for a good minute.) My verdict? It's interesting, but I'm not sure it was worth the hefty price ($5.99 for a large). It was also really bizarre having to chew pieces of coconut in between mouthfuls of coffee…

I'm not sure what the typical clientle looks like, but I must say that this particular cafe seems to attract a very eccentric group of individuals, at least when we were there. The place is also really, really tiny – like 5-6 tables worth – so it probably isn't the best place to have really personal conversations..

PSA. If you need the bathroom, there is one behind the counter. Let the barista know and they will let you back there. The bathroom was a lot more spacious (and clean!) than I expected. 🙂

  5. They have empanadas with any filling you can just imagine. Not only that but cookies, croissants, pastries… Would love to see a salad option for people trying to keep it healthy (wink wink).

Latte was just ok but staff was friendly enough to make up for it! There were plenty of empty tables at 7pm on a Monday night.

  6. Awesome little coffee shop in SoHo. I just add an americano with an extra shot of coffee and I'm pretty sure it was nearly $6. Otherwise, the selection of food and other beverages was quite extensive and impressive.

Based on my reconnaissance it looks like I'll need to come back and try the coconut latte for $6! Until then, thanks for the morning pick me up!

  7. Stopped in to check this place out. I had a mushroom empanada and it was awesome because of the plentiful mushroom filling. They're baked and heated to order. I didn't have anything else so I can't comment, but a cool little shop to stop by.

  8. This little cafe is conveniently located right off the subway station. The words on the window "coconut latte" caught my attention — I love lattes and I love coconut! AND I was in need of something to wake me up and warm me up on a cold New York morning.

I walk inside and this place is a lot smaller than it looks. There are a few tables but not a lot of room for people to be lollygagging around. Still, I like the way it is decorated inside. The walls are full of funny and notable quotes.

I ordered the coconut latte that my eyes were so hungry for. This was delicious! It was my first time trying a coconut latte and I was surely not disappointed. Not one bit.

I also ordered a nutella and chocolate empanada which took about 5 minutes to bake/heat up. I really enjoyed it!

The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and enthusiastic to help. I sat down to wait for my empanada and a line formed — he was very helpful to everyone, I saw, and was very quick to do everything.

I will make it a note to come back here to try the other empanadas on my next visit to NYC. It seems that everyone who came in ordered a type of empanada and they all looked good!
