  1. Generic family joint that cranks out ghetto and gentrified Chinese take out. Out of the 3 spots in the 2 block vicinity on Franklin J's Wong is definitely the "fanciest" of them all. The fried rice is not greasy and the hot and sour soup is loaded with veggies and tofu. Only one downside, the white rice they use is not as good as the other spots' nearby. But definitely good as a go to spot.

Fun fact: they're in the documentary 'The Search for General Tso'. Look for the matriarch.

  2. based on the overall positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try.  Since this was going to my first (and now last) visit, I got something "safe" or so I thought- sweet and sour chicken. Expecting pineapples, tender chicken, w/ a tangy sauce, instead I was greeted by fried puffs of dough w/ tiny pieces of chicken inside, a watery orange sauce, and no pineapples.  I paid $12 for THIS??? ugh, no egg rolls were packed inside and the rice was… rice.  there was no redeeming features of my experience to encourage me to return. I'll have to get my chinese food fix elsewhere

  3. Standard corner Chinese food place with a purple awning instead of yellow, wings served in styrofoam container instead of cellophane bags and a cool family working together to take the heavy traffic takeout orders.

I had the chicken and broccoli and was not disappointed.

While waiting for my order I learned that they have a 2 wing order minimum as a young kid came in and tried to place an order for 1 wing. Hey, I get it, sometimes you have a craving that doesn't quite justify a full order or you have 1 wing money. If this is your situation, J's Wong is not your solution.

While inexpensive, this place may be slightly more expensive than the other Chinese food places available within a few blocks.
