Great authentic tacos in the area. Pretty try big for 2 for $6. Burritos are also very big at $7.50. Their guacamole is also pretty awesome. Check this place out if you're craving some tacos. Much better than the other places in LIC.
They don't deliver to LIC by the way.
After months of having a hankering for Mexican food (and hearing that NYC has none of it), I stumbled upon Acapulco.
So the place itself, it pretty standard almost diner-ish, nothing special clean but again forgettable.
You seat yourself and they bring you menus. My husband ordered a Modelo…$4 people, $4!
We split chips and guacamole. The chips themselves were thick and crispy while the guacamole was ON POINT! It was garlicky and spicy, and they definitely used more than the standard restaurant ingredients in their recipe.
As far as meals go we each got a burrito (which according to Yelp seemed to be a specialty). We got the steak and chicken burritos, both $7.25 each. Both were incredibly flavorful, well seasoned, and they both were served in a massive portion size. The only thing that comes with the burritos is a tomato salad, shredded lettuce/onion, and a sour cream sauce on top. We each used the table hot sauce which was spicy but very good to top the burrito.
Overall, we left incredible stuffed and satisfied. Would I recommend this place? You bet I would in fact it sounds good again today.
I'm coming to find out that little old Greenpoint has a lot of hidden gems to be found in the most unassuming of places. Big money can't always get your good food, something to remember!
Just happened to drop by when my friend and I where craving Mexican food— AMAZING!!!
The food portion was insane–I couldn't eat half of the food. They have an "A" which is great! The inside isn't fancy but don't get discouraged. The beer is served in a cold ice Glass and it forms icicles under the foam–Perfect for the Summer time. Fresh food and they make their own guacamole and fresh salsa–They have an extra special indigent that gives it the extra kick.
Must Try!
As a summer transplant to Greenpoint, I'm trying to make my money stretch and still enjoy good food. After reading several Yelp reviews about how awesome Acapulco was, my boyfriend and I grabbed dinner there this week. The place is definitely nothing fancy, but it works. We ordered a burrito each–me the chicken and him the chorizo. I had seen the photos, but these burritos were MASSIVE! So much so that we could have probably just split one and have been very satisfied. They didn't come with gac, which another Yelper had shown, but honestly, the burritos were so good they didn't need it–it would have just been an added bonus. At $7.25, you leave feeling full and still have some money left in your wallet.
It's hard to find legit Mexican food. I'm lucky I'm in Bushwick and there's a couple good spots. But a friend told me about Acapulco and I knew I had to try it. The place looks like a deli from the outside corner spot. The set up is like an old school diner, there's a counter and a couple tables and chairs.
There are certain time the counter is the best and it's diners, cocktail spots, dive bars and this little spot. There's a couple seats and one had my name on it. I sat next to a definite regular who was chowing down on his meat salad, all elbows! I had to watch out. The menu was huge. The burritos looked more huge. I didn't want a big burrito belly but didn't see veggie tacos. The waitress was super accommodating and did a rice and bean combo with avocado for veggie tacos. Perfect!
My dish arrived with double tortilla tacos that were stuffed and a side of spicy salsa and some chopped up lettuce and tomatoes. It tasted just like my mom's beans and rice. It was super filing and just wanted I wanted for the price of $7.
Also I only trust Mexican restaurants if they have a Virgen de Guadalupe statue which Acapulco does. Check!
Great place to keep in mind if attending shows at St.Vitus! Or if you spent all your money drinking cocktails at Milk & Roses but still need to eat….ahem…
Definitely a hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere. Food is cheap and comes out quickly as it is prepared right in front of your eyes. $6 gets you two large tacos that's stuffed to the max with the meat of your choice. Homemade guacamole and freshly fried chips to munch on through the meal. You should check this place out if you're in the neighborhood. It doesn't get cheaper than this with mexican food.
I love authentic Mexican joints that serve a great deal of delicious food for no cost at all. This is that place in Greenpoint. My go-to is a skirt steak platter with a heaping amount of rice, beans, and salad. We also get a huge pile of guac and chips to start as well. With an ice cold Mexican beer, it's a meal you can't beat. Although I've never ordered anything other than Mexican cuisine from here, they seem to offer a menu similar to that of your local diner, which is accommodating if someone at your table isn't in the mood for mexi or chips with guac. Let's be real though…I don't have friends like that.
Decor is fitting for the neighborhood and fits in really well. No fancy pants here folks.
I came here at 9 on a Saturday and they were closed! They don't close at 10 as advertised.
