West 3rd can be kinda whatever sometimes, but it's the best kind of whatever. Good place for NYU students if you need a drink after class… or in between classes.
Decent happy hour specials. $5 well drinks & wine, $4 drafts, and $2 off appetizers. My whiskey sour is always a bit too sour but I still drink it. The food is surprisingly good. Would recommend the Mac and Cheese and Fish Tacos.
Aside from this place playing obnoxiously loud music for NO reason (seriously, if there are like 10 people in the entire place, it's likely they're trying to have conversations, not get sloppy), this is a good spot for a small to large group. If your'e able to grab one of the tables/couches in the front, it's a great time. Average selection of beers on tap and super close to NYU. I don't dare venture here past 9pm, god only knows what those college kids are up to these days…
We grabbed drinks and appetizers here before going to a comedy show at Eastville. It's a cozy pub with lots of comfortable seating and a large bar. We grabbed a couch style table in the corner. We arrived just after endless mimosa brunch had ended on a Saturday and found the crowd to be a lot of intoxicated college-aged students. Luckily, they cleared out quickly and the ambiance was a bit calmer after that. They have lots of happy hour specials (12-8 during the week, 4-8 on the weekend, with $4 beers and $5 wines–hard to beat that!). We also tried the food (hummus plate, burgers, tater tots, and nachos) and all were really tasty! Others recommended the mac n cheese and the make your own grilled cheese so maybe we'll try that next time!
Definitely seems to be a good bar for younger folks, with the close proximity to NYU and tons of drink specials. A great budget-friendly option for sure! They also have a selection of board games you can play if you'd like!
Simple college bar – board games, decent-priced drinks, plenty of seating. Been here a few times to just chat with friends or get a serious Jenga game going on.
As far as food is concerned, my most recent trip netted me a goat cheese and veggies sandwich ($12). Sandwich was okay and went well with a hoppy beer so I was happy. The person I was with had the pizza, which looked like something you'd get frozen from the supermarket. Really though – you're here for the drinks. $6-8 crafts with a nice enough selection.
Service here is good, and if you come around 6ish, there is always a seat to be had.
It was 9PM on a Saturday and the place was empty. But we gave it a chance and by the time we left, it was packed.
My favorite thing about this place was the board games, the sweet potato fries weren't bad either. We played Connect 4, Scrabble, Jenga, and some card games. I would have loved to play Settlers of Catan here. If they had this game, the rating would definitely be 5 stars!
I've been here twice; both times being on a Friday night after work. It's a cool atmosphere with some great happy hour specials. The happy hour runs from 4-8, and it has $4 drafts/cans, $5 wines, and $5 specialty cocktails. I believe you can also get $2 off appetizers. Both times I've taken advantage of the $4 beer specials. For food, I've ordered the grilled cheese (build your own!) with the tots and the common burger with sweet potato waffle fries. Both are good for bar style food. The fries were a little cold, but they still hit the spot after a long work week.
In terms of service, our waiters/bartenders have been great. The first time we sat in the front which is bar service. The second we were treated to very pleasant service and quickly food/drink delivery. The ambiance is really cool as well. It's got a very rustic vibe with candlelight for each table and book shelves around. They also have board games, which is fun for a larger group. For the price, it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
We were here for a quick drink and my first impression was "Nice!" The happy hour specials were similar to those in the area and even though the seating area was crowded the waitress came over to our table often. She even let us sit in a reserved section until the party showed up.
We shared a plate of the garlic French fries which were only ok. Nothing else on the food menu looked amazing though.
I think I would host an event here.
First time I came here it was pretty empty and we had fun playing some of the board games. The second time, we managed to get the last table by the bar. They have a good selection of bites for reasonable prices. It's a nice place.
