  1. If healthy looked like this and tasted like this, I'd do it more often!  Will definitely return to this casual, budget friendly restaurant when the mood for teriyaki strikes again.  The inside is small but comfortable with industrial rustic decor, some succulents and real tableware if you eat in!  Found limited seating just before noon on a weekday.  I asked for chicken thigh with more salad, less rice (brown) with honey lemon dressing.  I fell in love at the first bite.

  2. Glaze Teriyaki is a fast food teriyaki place.  Great for a quick stop in and a meal that's not over the top expensive.

They have several protein options, ranging from around $8 to $13.50, which comes with rice, salad, and a sesame dressing. The dressing is the best part of the meal, for sure.  It has great flavor with seeds.  I went with tofu, which came out in big blocks.  Since tofu in general has no flavor, one of the fun things you can use to cook with it is sauces.  This dish could have been much better if they used more sauce.  By the time I was halfway through the tofu, I was out of the delicious sesame flavor, and that was with frugal use.

Overall, my meal had no flavor other than the sauce.  I don't think I will return here, given the number of wonderful food options in the union square area, but if you want to give it a try for a quick meal, go for it.

  3. A nice and simple little eatery

This is a no frills place with decent and reasonably priced food. I got the salmon protein bowl and it was good, but I was not blown away. For me this is one of those places that I may revisit but I will not go out of my way to eat here.

There are about 4-6 tables, so if you want to dine in then you should visit before or after a lunch rush.

  4. This place was definitely what I was looking for. I stumbled across this place looking for something savory yet quick that wasn't Chipotle or Pret. I'm all about finding cool new trendy yet delicious places to eat on a new york budget, and this place does just that.

I ordered the brown rice bowl with salmon and OH WHAT A GOOD CHOICE. It comes with a little salad on the side with carrot ginger dressing. For $10, it's a little much for me, but the salmon was so worth it.

So before you decide to stand in line in one of those corporate chains, check this place out. A definite must-go when youre in union square.

  5. If you are looking for healthy good eats, this is a wonderful spot. Ordered a combo 1 & 2 take out. Combo 1 comes with 2 different types of terriyaki (fish, chicken (dark or white meat), steak, pork, tofu) and choice of rice and salad for $10. Combo 2 is a choice of terriyaki and 1 side for $9.50. You can also order things like gyoza, shrimp shumai, cucumber salad here. Their food has good flavor and is on the healthier side with choices such as brown vs white rice. Portion size is also pretty good for 1 person. You get a nice variety of food in a combo platter. The dark meat terriyaki chicken was tender and flavorful. The salmon was also very tasty. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a good healthy meal.

  6. As a cheap eats nut, I love the concept and execution of Glaze — and the food is pretty good, too! You essentially build your own little teriyaki box, with your choice of protein, rice, salad dressing and sauce. Big fan of the regular and spicy sauces as well as the carrot ginger dressing. Everything is fresh & made to order but simple enough that the USQ staff is able to crank out platters quickly and efficiently (they're all very friendly, too). Tip: try one of their sides and you won't be disappointed! I always get an order of gyoza with my to-go platter, which all told comes to about $12. For a quick lunch or dinner and decent teriyaki/dumplings, this can't be beat.

  7. There's food you eat because it's unique or decadent, and there's food you eat because it's tasty sustenance. The food here is the latter.

If you're ever in the Union Square area and want something simple and relatively healthy, this is a great option – the space is small and cute, it's counter service, and they serve you food you could probably make at home but are too hungry/far away/don't want to at the moment.

I got the teriyaki salmon with brown rice and ginger carrot salad for about $12. The salmon was tender, the glaze was sweet and savory, the rice was pleasantly chewy, and the salad decent. It was a good sized portion and made me feel satisfied and energized enough to push through the hellhole of Union Square subway station. They also have these massive coconuts for about $5 that are really good – I love coconut water and mine tasted really fresh.

It's simple, quick, tasty and nourishing. Sometimes that's just what you need. (I did need ice cream after though)

  8. Nice, very nice.  Was walking around Union Square with my wife looking for something different when we stumbled here.  We are trying to eat healthier, with varying degrees of success, so this looked like a good option.

We were not disappointed at all.  Teriyaki salmon  and beef were both spot on.  Beef was very tender and flavorful and the salmon was cooked just right.  The rice was on, this is not a silly point as places do butcher white rice more often than not.  And the rice was of good quality.  You can tell I take rice very seriously.  Salad on the side made for a nice meal.

The Shishito Peppers could have been better.  Some were not blistered, others were too blistered and the serving was not salted properly.  It should be served sprinkled with coarse sea salt.  Most were kinda bland and then I ate one that knocked me on my ass.  Super spicy!!!!!  Small complaint though.  I was surprised to see them on the menu and at 6$ I cannot complain too much.  My experience probably is the exception not the norm.  You can tell I take Shishito Peppers too seriously.

I would return.  It is a healthy, affordable option where the former is scarce and the latter non-existent in the area.
