  1. Amazing food if you're a Peruvian food fan! The sangria is Amazing! Perfect place for an intimate little dinner date. Gets pretty packed on weekends but on weekdays it's easy to be seated quickly! Definitely recommend this place esp if you're a sangria lover tooooo 😀

  2. This review is solely based on the food and take-out service.

We live close by and prefer to just order take-out from Tu Casa.  The is delicious and no complaints there.  If you like a little spice, ask for the green sauce.  Tu Casa is well known for the green sauce, makes the meal that much better.

If you're looking for a meal to try, get the Peruvian fried rice specials. chicken, shrimp of beef.

Reason for three stars instead of four or five?  The service is slow, even for pickup at times.  We'll call in advance and they'll say 15-20 minutes.  Well get there in 15-20 and you'll still wait another 15-20 on top of that.  We've even had to wait almost 30 minutes because the food wasn't ready.

  3. This gem in Kew Gardens have the best Sangria in town!

Sangria is sooo amazing here! It's so fruity tasting and you can definitely taste the alcohol. They did not skimp on that! Made with quality fresh ingredients, trust me, it's amazing!

Tostones are very tasty here. Nicely fried and not overly greasy. Great choice of appetizer to start with or as a side.

Skirt Steak with Yellow Rice & Beans. It was delicious! Although I thought the steak was just a bit too overcooked in color. The meat was so juicy and it was so soft to chew on! Plus, everything is better with green sauce!

This restaurant is very lively with music during weekend evenings. It makes the atmosphere a lot more romantic and warming, this makes it a pretty ideal place for a date night or a girls' night out.

  4. Tu Casa is a good local Peruvian and Spanish restaurant on Metropolitan Avenue off of Lefferts blvd. We started off with the empanadas, delicious. Then I ordered the skirt steak, my sister ordered the fish special. Both dishes were prepared to perfection. The service was outstanding as well. This is a go to restaurant and bar in good old Kew Gardens Queens

  5. Things that don't usually excite me:

    – Latin food.
    – crossing 2 rivers to eat dinner deep in queens.
    – Latin food.

Latin food is usually cooked with lots of animal fats (lard, chicken broth) which fucks my system up, hence my aversion to it. But I do eat fish, which at most Latin restaurants whatever sauce on the dish is made with chicken broth, or at the very least the rice is. Not here!  I ordered the Camarones Saltado
(Shrimp sauteed with Onions, Tomatoes & Cilantro, with Rice and French Fries) for $17 and it was amazing. The yellow rice was awesome, not dry at all, and tasty. The shrimp were well cooked and there were a ton of them in the dish, definitely worth $17.  And then there's the green sauce; I think I used half a bottle, that stuff is crack.

Our waitresses were slammed but very friendly. I was in a group and we wanted to linger, so service wasn't an issue, but I will admit if you were looking to eat quickly this certainly is not the spot for you.  You're definitely on South American time here. The sangria was good, not too sweet, but I have had better.  On a Saturday night there was a loud two piece band inside, but I ate outside so the volume was just right.

I can't wait to come back.

  6. Ive been here a few times with my friends and the food has always been a delight. My favorite dish would have to be the shrimp ceviche, its super marinated and palatable. You can never go wrong with this place your taste buds will always be pleased with just about anything on their menu. They offer a variety of sauces that you can use to your discretion to enhance the flavor of the food if need be so that always a plus. Last but not least lets not forget about desert because they have quite a few mouth watering sensations to offer; the flan and tres leches take the cake! All in all, the food keeps me coming back but a minor drawback in my book would have to be the service. I expect the people serving me my food to look and act accordingly…meaning… keep the sourpuss face and attitude outside of work.

  7. Two Words: SANGRIA PITCHER

Dear lord, these things are strong and come completely filled with booze soaked fruits. WINNING! We ordered two half pitchers for two people and were absolutely feeling great.

The empanadas were the biggest I have ever consumed and my garden salad was fresh- I wish they had used a more diverse lettuce mix rather than straight iceberg (no nutritional value).

Cant wait to make this my day drank spot.

  8. Coming back from Peru I was used to the awesome flavors and tasty dishes. Having food here is not the same. Granted how can food be compared to the motherland.

My chicken was dry. The fried dishes were not worth the calories. Good sangria and nice waitstaff.  Won't be coming back.
