Nick’s Pizza

“Nick's favorite dishes are the Spaghetti and Meatballs and the Penne Vodka.”

“When you eat here, it feels like eating in an italian family's home kitchen, aside from the brick oven in the back.”

“The pizza is good (I prefer Delizia though…), but it gets a little soggy when you eat it for leftovers.”

  1. We were 6 coworkers who found shelter here from the heavy rain. It was dry and it smelled like Italian herbs. That was more than enough for us to stay. The olive oil dipped bread was delicious and before we could finish, our fried calamari was already on the table. As addicting as the calamari was, we weren't able to finish it before our mushroom & pepperoni pie made its way to our plates.

What I'm saying is, the service is quick and attentive. The air was enticing. And the food is definitely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

  2. I'm really pleased to see that the ugly Second Avenue scaffolding that wiped out most of the businesses on the 94th-93rd block has left Nick's Pizza relatively unscathed. While my boyfriend ranked the pizza here above Rubirosa but below Lombardi's and Juliana's, I think Nick's is actually on par with the NYC pizza greats, and best of all, I didn't need to trek all the way downtown or over to DUMBO to get it.

First, they start you off with olive oil and complimentary focaccia bread. Perfectly soft and chewy, I wanted more but pizza was coming. It's all about picking your (delicious, carb-y) battles.

Second, their salads are no joke. Sure, a large heap of vegetal matter doesn't trigger the same fuzzy warm feelings as the innards of a burrito or hamburger, but the 5-leaf salad was actually delicious.

Third, the pizza came topped with generous plops of mozzarella. I haven't had pizza in a good while and was slightly overcome with bliss as I was munching through two slices. Our leftover two slices did not survive the night.

NEXT TIME: chicken pizzaiola, rigatoni tomato and basil, the Frankie portebello salad

  3. love this place! we were looking for pizza and decided to give them a try. so glad we did.

pizza was delicious. great flavors, perfect balance of crust/sauce/topping. nothing i'd change. we also tried calamari and chicken parm. both were excellent.

i'd go back again and again (and again… )

  4. I finally arrived to New York City and knew the first meal on my "To Eat" list was pizza.

I was exhausted from traveling, so I Yelped pizza spots near my hotel and decided on Nick's Pizza.

    Food:
I ordered the small pie and added a bunch of toppings including mushrooms, sausage, pepperoni, and olives.

    The crust was very delicious!

    Sides Notes

    Ambiance:
The restaurant has a low-key atmosphere.

    Service:
The pizza came out in good time and the waiters refilled my water cup frequently and were nice enough to box my leftover pizza.

    Overall:
If you're in the area, I recommend!

  5. OMG – this is purely for the food, as I've only done takeout and never spent time in the actual restaurant. The pizza is not cheap relative to other places in the area, but it is so good and worth the money in my opinion. The crust is thin and crackly, almost like a cracker, the toppings fresh and evenly distributed. Perfect sauce/cheese ratio. Perfect amount of heat. May by my new favorite place on the upper east side!

  6. What a GEM!

I've walked by this place a number of times and never went in but today we were looking for a nice Pizza place that would hit the spot on this dreary day.

We went with another couple and ordered a bottle of Prosecco, a small cheese pizza (to start) with family style orders of Ravioli, Chicken Parm and Asparagus….then we had the Tiramisu, Brownies and Canoli for desert.   We scarfed it all down, it was SO GOOD!  There was ample sauce and it was good (not too sweet, not to tart) with lots of Garlic.  Just perfection.  The Chicken Parm was crispy enough and baked to perfection…and that Canoli! So simple and just perfect.

It was just enough food for the four of us, any more and it would have been too much.
We would definitely go back in a heart beat and are so happy to have found this place.

It was PACKED…so make a reservation if you can, or just get there early.  It's perfect for families and friends.  It's not pretentious but could be if it wanted to because everything was just great!

  7. Family style pizza joint. Kid friendly and big groups friendly. The service was amazing and the food was even better.
I was with a group of ten and we shared about four pies and a pasta dish. We ordered the classic margarita and the meat supreme? pizza. I personally love the margarita, can't go wrong with a classic. The penne vodka pasta dish was really good as well.

  8. Hands down one of my favorite pizzas in NYC.
Used to live on the UES and this was our go to pizza spot, especially because they delivered.
We always ordered the large pie with sausage and pepperoni. Their pepperoni is on point. Nice thin crust pizza with fresh basil and mozzarella on top – you really can't go wrong.

Always want to try the white pie but have a hard time deviating from norm since its that good!
