Not my absolute favorite NYC style slice, but very close. And also MUCH closer in proximity to my home, haha. Solid pizza, which they toast to order. Fast and delicious.
Ordered delivery on a Saturday night through Seamless, it was quick and painless and arrived within the delivery window.
Ordered a small cheese pizza for $15 + tax (the total order, with tip, came to about $18). Each additional topping is $3 which I think is a little steep so I went with the plain cheese.
The pizza arrived hot and fresh, cut into six large slices. It was good. Not shout-to-the-rooftops good but a solid, cheesy pie that I was satisfied with. Not the best in New York but certainly not the worst. Wish the crust was a little more doughy around the edges.
Good pizza for delivery in the Prospect Heights area, no frills, solid.
Brooklyn New York thin crust pizza. Had pepperoni and a veggie slice. The mozzarella was worth crossing the bridge over from Manhattan. I'm told this is where the locals go for a slice. Its nothing fancy just straight forward good quality pizza slice on the go.
Came back to Antonio's after being away for awhile from this place, just due to the fact I haven't been in the area for awhile but I went right back to the delicious STUFFED PIZZA. I love this slice, just the same as it was years ago.
While sitting there, you can see that the customers sure frequent the place, either that of the young man behind the counter has a great memory of everyone. There was nice interaction between the staff and customers which tells me that people come back here!!
Although I didn't try any of the other slices, they all look pretty tempting. I'll be back to give those other prospects a try.
I had a craving for pizza (when do I not?) and wanted to try something new. So a short walk over to Flatbush landed me at Antonio's. Just by the look (outside and in), you knew you were getting a Brooklyn slice. Down to the plastic booths and the cans of soda. It's no-frills, and that's a good thing.
I went with the grandma ($3.25) and the fresh mozzarella ($3.75). I don't know why I did those two because they were very similar. Which sucks because they have a TON of different slices available.
The grandma slice was okay, but the fresh mozz was better. Washed it down with an orange soda, because nothing goes better with pizza than orange soda. Maybe sex. Sex and pizza might beat out orange soda and pizza. But they don't serve sex here.
One of the best neighborhood take-out pizza place I've lived near in recent memory. I've ducked in here many a night after getting off the Q train hungry and have never been disappointed. Huge slices; personally love the Sicilian slice the most. Hero sandwiches are enormous, made on delicious bread and don't skimp on toppings or protein. Delivery is generally pretty fast, too, if that's more your thing. Staff are nice too. Awesome spot!
The good: Good location (near Barclays and Atlantic terminal, and just off the Q train), good pizza, good service. I called for a medium pie with pineapple and jalepeno (try it!) and walked over to get it. It was done in just over 10 minutes, no waiting, and it was delicious.
The bad: The price was a bit high – $19 for a medium w/ two toppings – and the per-slice price is high ($3-$3.50). Pizza was a bit greasy, but nothing a few napkins couldn't lift off. And their bathroom was out of order. And they are cash-only, which is an inconvenience, but probably a major money maker for them.
It's pizza. It's good enough. They have a big selection. But if I had my choice, I'd have tried the fig-pear-honey-Gorgonzola number at Amorina a few blocks away.
I'm pretty sure I've both drunkenly grabbed a slice from here once and my friend ordered in from here once in a group gathering game night. It's not terrible. It's not the best ever. It's slightly greasier than you would expect even from pizza. But it's definitely not bad for a generic slice shop. It's apparently family owned since 1950. That's so charming and kind of makes we wonder if my Dad when he was living on Flatbush Avenue in the late 70's ever stumbled drunkenly into here too. I sure hope so. It's no frills but delicious. I'll be back.
