“Not the case at Nonna's. Situated just North of the corner of Delancey and Clinton, Nonna's is, as another reviewer put it, "a gem."”

A dark and very small little pizza spot in the LES, could go horribly wrong…. or horribly right. I was a little dissapointed to find they didnt have regular triangle slices but I found myself with a grandma slice that was crisped to perfection. Not crowded at all, not incredibly expensive and their menu is tiny but with just the right stuff (paninis, salads, MOZZ STICKS, and garlic bread, etc.)
Not much else to say… if you want some good pizza right before or after a walk of the Williamsburg bridge, since this is maybe a block from the LES entrance, here ya go!
Dee-licious, ordered for delivery, the pizza is really top notch, especially the sauce, loved the Capone and the classic slice with meat sauce. However, a bit on the pricey side for takeaway pizza, bought 4 slices, some mozzarella sticks and a bottle of Pepsi and it came to about $40.
My coworker and I came into this eatery quickly so thay I could grab a slice of pizza during my lunch break. My coworker made several attempts to open their front door but had a difficult time doing so….After much effort because the door is really heavy we were able to proceed inside. The front of the shop is narrow with the workers behind the counter cooking and serving various food items. I was able to view the wide variety of things on their menu which include sandwiches, appetizers, pasta dishes, pizza and desserts. They also have something called the "Mystery Slice" of pizza which is actually their Grandma Slice!
My coworker did not want to try anything but I could not initially make up my mind on what I wanted to order….everything that was behind the glass counter looked absolutely delicious! I finally decided to get a regular slice if pizza and it is one of the best slices.of pizza that I have ever tasted! The tomato sauce and cheese were so fresh and I wish that I would have bought two slices of pizza (yes, I would have definitely eaten two slices!-lol).
The employees were cool and served me hot, fresh pizza….I could not ask for anything better than that!…they just need to replace their door and have one that is not so difficult to open!-lol.
Very cute place right under to my apartment.
I have a lot of pizza options living in the LES and just moved to the neighborhood so it's quite nice to have this place just out of the convenience of it being there.
The size of the place is deceiving from the outside and actually seats people. The pizza is really good and the staff is quick.
Only downside is it's a little pricey. However, it's worth it because it tastes amazing.
Found this place by pure luck and omg amazing.
First, I must say if you love Sicilian and crunchy, this place will be heaven.
Atmosphere: Small, narrow, clean and simple.
Service: Nothing out of this world but decent.
Food: They have slices with every topping you can imagine. I had the spinach ricotta and omg it was juicy, crunchy and delicious; a true food orgasm. My friends had the prosciutto Arugula and they seem to love it. I wish the slice was a little bigger but other than that, no complaints.
Prices: $5 and up per slice but worth it.
If you're in the area I would so recommend this place.
When we're on the LES, there is no way we can leave without grabbing a slice to eat here or to go
Hypes:
– Great pizza. Possibly my top 5 in NYC. The square slices are crispy, and the variety of flavors are all great.
– The signature pizza is also just amazing.
– The slices are fresh, each topped with a variety of fresh and baked on ingredients ranging from mushrooms, fresh arugula, grilled chicken, balsamlc, proschiutto. Each specialty slice is so good, you can't have a favorite, and you want to try them all.
Gripes:
– Service can be hit or miss
– Too bad its not closer to me. For the best experience, eat on site – delivery or take out is just not as good
I've walked past this place numerous times before and I didn't bother to step in until last week. My friend and I were looking for good pizza places in the Lower East Side and we decided upon this place.
Upon walking in, we noticed the nostalgia of the store. It featured brick walls and old painting hanging on these walls. The lights were also slightly dimmed so I guess that added to the nostalgic vibe.
My friend and I both wanted the Grandma slice but there was only one piece left on the counter. Luckily, the man at the counter was nice enough to cook up a new pie in the over. 10 minutes later, we both got our Grandma slices. I also settled for the grilled chicken slice while my friend settled for something else.
Overall, I would he returning to this place. It's not a bad place to have pizza and chill. Cut basil leaves, balsamic vinaigrette and mozzarella and finally sprinkled on your slice!
I ordered delivery from Nonna's recently. I take delivery taste with a grain of salt as weather conditions and traveling with food can leave food much less tasty then when it left the restaurant but this was pretty ridiculous. My calzone was visibly burnt… BLACK in many places actually. The Parmesan that was used to perhaps cover up the black spots tasted like it had gone bad. When I'm spending $14 on a calzone, even just delivery, I expect it to be edible at the very least and this one was not. One bite tasted like a campfire. I will definitely never visit or order from here again, as anyone letting something this visibly burnt leave their restaurant for a customer is not paying any attention to food quality!
