Pretty good for the area, well made and well prepared. Staff is super friendly. Would come back.
There is some shady business going on here so I wanted to warn everyone.
I was here recently and ordered a soda. When I got the bill, I was charged for two sodas and I was wondering why. I thought it was an honest mistake at first, but the soda we drank was the large one so there was no need for a smaller soda. I even told the lady I was taking the large soda so she could mark it down. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the older lady at the cashier (who speaks practically perfect English by the way) looking at me. She obviously knew I was confused. Finally she calls out to me and says she thinks she mischarged me by an extra soda. This meant she knew she over charged us on purpose. Otherwise, why was she looking at me while i was looking at the receipt? How would she know why I had the look of confusion on my face?
I let this go since it could have been an honest mistake except a second incident happened almost right afterwards. We decided we wanted to get something to go. The menu clearly stated the price, but when we got our receipt we were charged a dollar more. I asked the lady why it was $1 more and she said that was the correct price even though the menu clearly said it was $1 less. As far as I know, there are no separate menus with take out prices. At this point, I was already pissed and wanted to leave. I let the $1 slide. I don't understand how you go from stating one price on the menu and charging another price. This is wrong an unethical. My take out wasn't even good. Do not get the cuban sandwich. Stick to Sophie's or Tina's in Manhattan.
If this lady tried to pull TWO fast ones on me, I am sure this isn't the first time she's done this. She's probably done this to other people so pay attention to your check!!!! I will not be returning here. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. It's sad because I actually semi-enjoyed my meal. I don't care if this is a mom and pop's restaurant. You don't do shady business.
Empty on a Friday lunch but the smell is wonderful inside, ie you will smell like food when you're done with eating.
The chef/owner is also waiting the tables. But surprisingly our food came out pretty fast.
The tacos are the real deal. Crispy on the outside. The lengua is very flavorful and tender. I really enjoyed the grilled scallions as well. Great idea I will steal for our next BBQ.
We also ordered the Peruvian chicken. A little dry and too salty for me. But their green sauce is pretty decent.
I'll come back for the tacos again when I'm in the area.
I stopped in for lunch while up in the area for work. I eat Mexican all the time but this was my first Peruvian experience. I know that they have Mexican, Pizza and Peruvian (which is awesome to have all in one place) but I had to go with a Peruvian dish since I don't know of any Peruvian restaurants by me. I had the chicken lo mein with onions, tomatoes and red peppers. The dish was huge and so delicious. I was full but just couldn't stop eating. My server allowed me to try two different spicy sauces on the side. One was a very pale greenish color and was both sweet and spicy. And the red sauce was just spicy and not sweet. The sauce on my entree was very good without needing to add the side sauces, but the side sauces were unbelievable and I tried to soak up every last delicious drop of both. Prices are very reasonable and they accept credit card. It just does not get any better than this.
Dear Garibaldi Peru-Mex- Please open a restaurant in Philadelphia where I live! We are in need of some Peruvian dishes down here.
And thank you to yelp and prior reviewers because I relied solely on yelp to find my lunch destination.
I think there's a new owner. its an older lady that took care of us the last time I was there. English is understandable. the menu changed and there's table cloth now. you can't order individual tacos anymore. Tacos come in a set.
I'm not too sad of the change. there's better and cheaper tacos in Passaic.
And who in their right mind orders pizza from here??
Went their for tacos ! The tacos are just awesome. We had asked them to make it bit sprcier and they did a great job of doing that . Loved the chicken and shrimp tacos, The sauce on the sides were also great !!
Definitely recommend this place !
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and was a little thrown off at first when I walked in since I wasn't sure if I was supposed to seat myself at a table or go up to the counter to order something lol. The place kind of looks like a hole in the wall so I was a bit confused.
My friend and I ordered the guacamole with chips as an appetizer and man was it delicious!! It was very fresh and the amount was very generous. We also ordered the passionfruit drink which was very good as well.
We then ordered the Lomo Saltado and tacos (Fish and Lamb) as our entrees to share. The lady working was very nice and let us do a substitution. She let us order 2 Fish and 2 Lamb tacos instead of 4 of the same tacos. When we got the food, I didn't think the tacos were that great. They tasted a bit bland to me and I kind of wished there wasn't so much tortilla. The Lomo Saltado was decent but nothing special.
The service was great (but that could of been because there was just one other table when I was there) but if I want real good Peruvian food, I would not come here for that.
I'm addicted to their tacos! The shells are on a sweet side and in combination with the meat, it creates a unique taste. I usually get Al Pastor tacos with marinated pork. They are really good!
I have also tried their enchiladas and one of Peruvian dishes with beef. They were both good, but not as good as tacos!
I also love their guacamole. It looks freshly made and has big chunks of avocado in it. The chips are too oily – I prefer to have my own with their guacamole.
The place is a little pricey -$10 for 4 little tacos and there is not much meat in it. It's good and it's worth it, but the portions are not huge.
The staff is nice. The restaurant has several tables to dine in. The decor is very simple and it's usually quiet there at night.
