Williamsburg Pizza

“I was once denied a pepperoni slice at my favorite LES pizza joint because I was $.75 shy and had to content myself with cheese.”

“Nino sent a couple of pies over to my bar to sample last night, and wow-were they good!”

“Only complaint: the crusts are a little dry.”

  1. I have many friends who go to Williamsburg Pizza and liked it but when I came here I was not impressed at all. I went here with a friend who was a big fan of this place and he went here when they first opened but even he admitted the quality has gone down hill.

When I got in here there was no line and I was looking at the different pizza's asking the typical questions what are customers favorite slices and what do you recommend and the guy got annoyed and walked away and left the counter open to go work on something in the back. That was incredibly rude and obnoxious. So I was not off to a good start.

He eventually told me they were all customer favorites which meant to me he does not even know the product he is selling. I picked out on the slices with fresh garlic in it (sbinky bello) and my friend got a regular slice. The price of these slice were pricey for the size and we were both un-impressed as the slices were burnt on the bottom and did not taste fresh.

I guess the sticker on their counter window is right, people on yelp do hate them.

    In short:
    – rude staff
    – over priced
    – not as good as other pizza places in the area
    – I most likely won't be back

  2. I'll tell you what. This is the second time I've been here. The first time, I ordered a few subs and they were ehh.  That's probably why I hadn't returned in a while. But today I needed a quick bite and decided to give this place a second shot.

    WHAT.

I have not eaten a pizza this delicious or unique in a very long time. Matter of fact, this may have been top 5 pizzas I've even in my entire life. The four, I just can't remember cuz my memory sucks. This might as well be first.

    Anywhoo, here we go:

Kale pizza – never had kale chips, but if I did,it'd better be this good! A mix of crisp kale, savory sausage, gooey cheese and sprinkling of pine nuts made this THE most creative pizza to touch these lips. I'd eat everyday, and bc of the kale, feel good about myself. Dang you WBP. Geniuses.

Paesano – if Italians tasted a certain way, I'd imagine this would be it. The Italian sausage had so many hints of aromatic seasoning, the mushroom and peppers provided just the sweet balance, and the mozz was tops! Legit. Goodness in a square.

Apple and bacon – Just looking at it makes you wanna be a better person. The sweet apples, the fatty saltiness of bacon, and then…you get mugged by the Gorgonzola while knocked over by the walnuts. Flavors that you never expected! Ingredients that reminisce of so many life experiences! I'll cry myself a river for another slice.

All in all a great taste-ride. Staff was friendly too. The only downfall? Just a bit hot for my taste. Felt a lil too near to the oven, enough to get me perspiring. That kept it from being 5 stars.

Price is okay. What you'd expect from a standalone pizza shop in Chinatown without breaking your wallet. Yep I'd come again. If I could find my way to AC on a hot day, that'd be better. But yep I'd come back.

Williamsburg Pizza has all of the hipster charm without going to Williamsburg. The space has four person bar counter, a banquet with a few tables, and stand alone four-top. They do whole pizzas but they also sell slices between $3-4.50. I decided on a slice of the Sophie Loren, a square of the Tartufo, and of course a PBR can ($11.25). The Sophie Loren had fresh tomato, mozzerella, garlic, parmesan, and basil. The crust had no char, a nice crisp bite, and a decent chew. The slice was covered in delicious tomatoes which kept it moist. Both cheeses were added a good complementary flavor and texture. There was an inch and half of crust leftover. The Mushroom pan baked square had a nice seared crust and good amount of grease and bite. Unlike the other slice, it was a bite dry. The criminology mushrooms were not evenly spread out and sadly overcooked.  There was distinct lack of truffle flavor. Overall, it was decent pizza but I am not sure worth the migration from Brooklyn.

  4. So,  the name is uninspiring for me and does not scream great pizza,  but it was still quite good. Sadly the girl behind the counter terms seems burnt out,  but I guess I might be too if I did that job too long.  The Margherita pizza was excellent. Fairish prices… Good quality but not cheap price.  I would eat here again,  but New Yorkers are so lucky that these great pizzerias are everywhere. No pizza drought in Manhattan ever.

  5. What a cool little pizza shop! The staff was amazing! They great oldies tunes over the radio and the pizza makers were dancing and singing while making HUGE, delicious pizzas at all hours of the night! What an incredible experience, it brings a whole new meaning to 'loving your job'.

If I ever get back to NY, this will be the first stop! Thank you guys for such a delicious dining experience!

  6. I love their tartufo slice. The truffle oil with mushrooms and the thin crust. At $4.50, its not the $1 slices but it's a premium square slice that is sure to fill u up. I always want to try something else but I always end up getting that instead.

  7. Better than your $1 slice of pizza, but not better than your favorite pizza joint. It's good, but nothing spectacular. Just glad they have a prime corner location on the edges of a popular area and they are open late.

Thinks hoards of drunk people, that don't want to be seen as drunk, yet jam into the location and enjoy their $3-4 slices of pizza. If only it were a tad cheaper, but the location in my realm of things can't be beat.

Had a nice Peroni (I know I passed up their PBR can offering) and a slice of the Sophia Loren and calabrese I believe. Maybe I'm a traditionalist, but the square pizza slices just didn't work for me, go for the regular cut slices a la the Margherita and Sophia Loren. Unique pie offerings, but solid slices and definitely there for your drunchies. Cheers.

  8. Thanks Uber 5th birthday I got to try the pizza here for free. I pass by this restaurant all the time and never tried their pizza. I tried the Margarita pizza and it was yummy. The pizza here is super thin and crispy. It was different from other pizzerias. It's not the best pizza but the texture of the pizza was different and cool. Everyone looked like they enjoyed their pizza. I will have to come back to try the plain pizza to really tell if this is a good pizzeria. Overall I had a great time here and the cashier was super friendly.
