Patsy’s Pizzeria

“Occasionally working in Harlem makes my commute from South Brooklyn such a treat knowing Patsy's is waiting for me.”

“I've eaten all the top pizzerias in the five boroughs (John's, Totonno's, Grimaldi's, etc), and they are all excellent, but Patsy's gets my vote.”

“The Margherita was a perfect balance of crispy, from the barely charred crust, and soft, from the chewy inner layer.”

  1. We ordered a pepperoni and cheese pizza and it took forevers to bring out!  It probably took a good 45 mins or more.  The pizza was just ok for me.  Each slice didn't have the crisp I was looking for and folded in half way too easy.  Flavor wise, the cheese was a lot better than the pepperoni.

I probably would not come back.  There are just way too many other pizza options in the city to come way out here.

If I did come back, I would order by the slice, instead of sitting down in the restaurant.

  2. One of my favorite pizza places in NYC. Went on a pizza tour so I could try a bunch of places all in one day so I could really compare and this place was either number one or tied for first.

Pizza comes out in record time because the oven is really friggin HOT. Although that steaming hot pizza looks scrumptious do not eat it right away I repeat do not. The sauce will burn your mouth for dayz. Let it sit for a couple mins then enjoy. Sauce, dough, cheese is a match made in heaven and has great flavor with every bite. Add some toppings if you do so desire, but a plain pie will satisfy you for sure.

  3. Baby!

Let me just say — we were so well taken care of. Our waiter was such a delight to have! Very sweet! I forgot his name but he's short, charming & has a pony tail! ^_^ lol. So if you ever get him as your waiter, you're in GREAT hands.

I'm familiar with Patsy's because the mall I used to work at had one! I love their pizza!  Mouthgasm at its finest 😉 We stumbled across an actual restaurant because we wanted to eat before we went to our event! (Made no sense to go on an empty stomach considering there would be alcohol #IveLearnedMyLessonAndISpeakFromExperience)

At a glance, Patsy's is a warm intimate little restaurant in Spanish Harlem that serves authentic Italian food 🙂 framed  Photographs of celebrities greeted us as we walked in.

We were seated quicker than we could blink our eyes. Staff was very warm.
I got lasagna while my sis got chicken parm! We barely waited for our plates to arrive. That's how QUICK it was. The food was so delicious and flavorful. I even finished the table bread! I wasn't surprised but I WAS at the same time at how marvelous my dinner was.

Everything was on point! Can't wait to come back and try desert 🙂

  4. One of the best SLICE spots I've tried in NYC. Awesome thin crust.

Just a couple bucks for a slice.

Excellent for a delicious, quick, cheap meal.

  5. Great tasting, non-pretentious, old-school, thin crust pizza that won't cost you an arm or a leg!  Yummmmmm!

  6. For quite some time it really irked the ever-lovin heckfire out of me that I had yet to get to Patsy's.

I, a former native New Yorker.
I, an obsessive connoisseur of pizza.

I go to an extent…to an extent that involves the hoarding copious lists, to an extent that involves bookmarking uppa storm just hundreds of pizzerias… to an extent that involves my mind imagining a map of this fair country less as topography, highways and state lines, and more so as a collection of pizza territories; pizza regions pinpointed with many locales where pizzas of merit warrant mad amounts of detours and/or pilgrimages…

I care about pizza. You see what I'm saying. I'm one of these people who behaves as though wanting to eat all the best pizza is a strength and a skill. And it is, obviously. Not rare, but real. We all chase the, "pizza like when I was a kid," dragon.

Annnywhooo, Patsy's has been on my to-try list. I've been wanting to try Patsy's for A.While.

And I did at last! It felt like a tasty accomplishment.

A pal's baby shower was taking place just around the corner from the historic coal-oven pizza spot, and so I managed to arrive early (anywhere, such a feat), for once, in order to grab up some slices. Pizza priorities.

"I do believe that neighborhood slices in my day were 75cents," the fogey pipes in, for no apparent reason.

I am the fogey, friends. I am the fogey. What am I telling you here? I've been around a long time. But not as long as Patty's of East Harlem has been on the scene.

I love and do so enjoy an institution of a pizza place, I reiterate to to yous. Classic, classic. The original Patsy's of East Harlem has been at it since 1933.

By the by, in the scheme o' things people, a $12 pie (or $1.75 slices) feels like a great deally. Especially for good ones, in this day n age.

Split a pie like a pal. Or get two. Who would ever regret having extra pizza for later? Not me. Not that there's ever leftovers wit this one.

Slices! They're some tasty, thin, lil crispy-meets-tender, touch o' coal, char-crusted babies, I say. Their's a blistery char; as in nicely smokey, not burnt. Patsy's uses a nice, bright, slightly sweet tomato sauce, too. Maybe I'd like a touch more sauce. More of that, Pat. No complaining here though! Twas a satisfying sauce n cheese ratio spiked with my sprinklins of hot pepper flakes a garlic powder. I assure you, that plain pie here hit the spot.

If you find yourself up thisaways, try some classic Patsy's pizza. This will require cash, I should remind you.

Patsy's, I check you offa my list, and would too return ahhh-gain!

  7. We had half original half Margherita pizza. Original is definitely the way to go.

Blake Lively is famously quoted for wanting to be cremated in the ovens here. I wouldn't go THAT far but I can see where she was coming from.

You know that moment when you bite into a slice of pizza and you cry for joy because it's so delicious? Yes, that moment. If you haven't had this moment yet, take a trip to East Harlem to the original Patsy's.

Like the other reviewers said, it's cash only. If you're driving, it's relatively easier to find parking near here than other parts of Manhattan.

    Enjoy!!!!

  8. How could anyone want to live anywhere other than NYC when you can get pizza like Patsy's? It's a great pizza place, and if you want New York pizza you can't ask for better than Patsy's.

When I asked the server for pizza recommendations, he gave me some advice that I thought was solid: don't have more than 2 toppings on your pizza, whether you're ordering toppings on the original, or one of the specialty pizzas. The secret (/beauty) of New York pizza is not the sauce, it is the crust- that glorious thin, soft, chewy yet crispy crust. It's hard for the crust to do its job when it's loaded down with too many toppings. So order whatever toppings you want, but stick with 2.

We loved this place, will be back soon.
