Was going to get some pizza but the guy in front of me got a meatball san and it looked really good so I went with that. Tasty, and a good value for the price paid. Pizza looked good too, but didn't try it.
I have an absolutely crazy number of check-ins here. But what can I say? It's my go-to lunch place.
It's pretty tiny, a little dingy – that's how you know it's good, after all. The whole place feels very old school. The staff, too, fit right in with the image – a little gruff, still a little friendly. I can dig this place.
Two Sicilian slices, 5 dollars. I tell em to heat it lightly, otherwise they'll keep it in too long and it turns a bit black, which is the only reason I took a star off. But now that they know my order and how to prepare it, I'll keep coming back.
Go for the pizza, stay for the… Well don't actually stay, there's little seating and it really is kind of dingy. But definitely go for the pizza.
I ordered seamless, and it came pretty fast for dinner.
This is some kind of old school pizza. Not sure just which old school though. This is not New York style pizza, but its good. Lots and lots of cheese.
Enormously generous portions. The eggplant parmigiana was good enough for size for thee meals. the free salad that came with it was two servings. So this is a great bargain.
I ordered two orders of the garlic knots and they gave five orders, twenty five. Wow they went fast too. Best Garlic Knots I have had in many years.
Love the old sign. If they are smart, they won't change it. The square slice is very solid. I definitely enjoyed it. Nice "old ny" place.
Ordered 5 pies to be delivered for a night class and could not have asked for better pizza! I would say the crust and taste is near that of many famous NYC pizzerias (Grimaldi's even maybe?) The crust was soft and chewy, but also had a gooey firmness. The white pizza had tons of cheese and not too much/just enough ricotta. The margherita had gooey melty cheese and excellent sauce. Delivery was prompt with all the fixins (cheese, oregano, parmesan, pepper flakes, pepper), plates and cups! Would def stop in here for a slice!
Holy ravioli..good pizza just blocks from me and I haven't known it for 9 years. What's wrong with me? Read somewhere they have the best Sicilian. Well, the Sicilian slices haven't looked to good to me when I've gone in. But the regular slice was pretty delicious..tasted like a real old NY style slice back in the Bronx good ole' days of my childhood.
And the guy is the friendliest NYC pizza worker out there. On especially glum days I'll stop in there just to talk to his friendly, cheery self. Yeah, that's how nice he is and in this mean, cold city, some days you just need that and a real good slice.
Quick, but the place was small and a bit dirty, the one guy working was friendly though.
You could do a lot worse for lunch in midtown. I really enjoy their Sicilian slice. The number of calories is only justified if truly tasty, and this is tasty.
Its the perfect density and texture. Gooey mass of cheese but not so much that the crust can't support it. The crust is not stale. The crust is not soggy. The crust is not rubbery. The crust is crusty. Thanks!
