I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to greatly reduce my rating of this place. I used to go there once a week or at least once every two weeks. But lately, they've gone down hill greatly–twice I've visited there in the past few weeks and they've not had chicken. One time I left and the other I ordered something else. It was ok, but not my chicken! 🙂
they've also raised their prices and the server (usually only 1 when I go) are not attentive at all, despite there only being a handful (if that) of customers at any given time.
I will probably continue to go there, and if they improve, I will raise the rating back up. But for now, sorry, 3 stars it is.
Although Pio Pio is my all time favorite Peruvian restaurant, my mom once read about Mochika and decided to go there for a family dinner. What a great runner up! I was impressed! (This place was also recommended to me by my friend whose boyfriend is Peruvian, so I knew it had to be good.)
The chicken is so moist and juicy, the green sauce is its perfect companion (though I like Pio Pio's green sauce a little bit better). Ceviche was great and really fresh. Sangria was STRONG. Plantains were perfectly fried. What impressed me the most, however, was the fried rice. It was absolutely delicious and the portion was enormous. And of course, you can never go wrong with salchipapas!
Since Pio Pio is a bit far from where my parents live, this is our go-to place for a reasonably priced, delicious meal.
