I've been here quite a few times.
They have good pizza and i also had the chicken parmigiana it was good as well. I ordered buffalo wings once as well, no complaints.
The service is great. Very friendly staff. It's more of a take our place, nothing fancy.
This place has been in the neighborhood for years I've been told by my boyfriend. He said they've always been consistent with good pizza & service.
I came back again with my boyfriend. Knowing the long time it takes for the eggplant parm to be made, I called ahead of time to place a order. My boyfriend also ordered a calzone, which was HUGE beyond our expectations. He's 6'1 and only managed to finish half of the calzone! It's literally the length of my arm!
The service was fantastic as usual. The garlic knots were also very fresh and delicious. I do wish they were slightly crunchier though.
Nonetheless, my second visit here was just as great as the first. I will definitely be coming back again for the consistently good service and delicious food!
As a younger man I used to walk to and from my grandmother's house just off 118th street to Forest Hills. Many things changed along my three mile walk over the years, but stopping at Alfies remained a constant. There was an abundance of pizza parlors along my journey, but even at the tender age of 10(ish) and beyond, I knew a great slice was worth the extra effort and I would be wearing pizza blinders along the way until my arrival
I thought about biting into the crisp crust as a walked the tracks, unsuccessfully attempting to remain on one rail the entire way, or walking home with a slice or two in my content tummy.
Many years later, I still swing by for a slice or two and the memories come back in droves from the very first bite.
Awesome. Just great pizza! So there is no bathroom and the only train nearby is the J. I just have to say there is something about the crust. It is light, fluffy, and airy. The garlic knots are heavenly puffed and come with a huge helping of minced raw garlic. The fresh cheese on my Sicilian had a creamy texture, not salty, yet smooth, unoily taste. I really enjoyed my stay here. I came by today on a Saturday to find two whole booths available. I didn't even need garlic powder, oregano, or hot chili pepper flakes. It was great by itself. 🙂
This place has been around for as long as I can remember. The pizza is great although I don't see anything so special with it that I usually dont get in a typical NY pizza joint. I do have to say their specialty pizzas all look great and the chicken cutlet parm was delicious. The prices are reasonable as well. I had the luxury of having one of their salad slices which was really good and put together well so it wasn't very messy at all. It was very easy to eat with a perfect amount of dressing on top. I highly recommend this! It's a good pizzeria which I would frequent more often if I lived closer.
This place is amazing!!!! Really good and authentic. The italian lady, Rosa, behind the counter is so old school and so NYC….Always consistent.
I'm not a lunch break person, in that I usually eat throughout the day whenever I'm hungry — you can bet that I've got my desk and a few drawers in my filing cabinets filled with rations from Trader Joe's.
But on longer work runs where I know I'll be in the office late, I go and order off of Alfie's dinner menu, particularly the orgasmic and filling eggplant parm dinner to go. Because the endorphins and insulin rush from the luscious mozzarella-saturated pieces of breaded eggplant cutlets keep me happy and alert for big project deadlines.
Just eight dollars gets you a large order of eggplant parmesan, salad, dressing, and two heaping bricks of piping hot focaccia bread (see attached picture). Upon making my order, the friendly woman behind the register — I think it's Alfie's daughter — looked at me incredulously: "is this all for you?" Nope, one order — literally — translates into three meals for me: the eggplant was lunch and dinner, and the salad stayed in tact overnight in the fridge for the following day.
Did I mention that I couldn't even get around to all the focaccia bread? In its garlicky and rosemary glory, I gave one to my coworker to ensure someone would eat it while its fresh.
Great pizza. 10$ for 16 inch but 2$ extra for half topping 3$ extra for full topping. 8 large slices. The plain cheese was excellent. Free delivery for 10$ order or more. I thought the service was good, polite enough on phone and pizza was delivered just 10 minutes after they estimated. The sauces and cheese ratio and thin crust were all too my liking. Not the best pizza I ever had but it was very good and did not disappoint at all. Could have easily finished half the pie in one sitting.
