A cute pizza place.
They have a nice selection here. Little seating is available. About 2 small tables and a counter. I always grab a slice to go since this place is not too far from my crib.
Their cheese and pepperoni slices are my favorites. I find the toppings on their specialty pizzas to be a bit lacking in flavor. Though it may not be the best pizza I've ever had, it's still quite tasty. The gentlemen taking my order and warming up my pizza are always friendly and quick.
If you're in the area and looking for a quick bite, Best Pizza on 1st is a nice place to try out.
Shocked I haven't written review on this place yet considering there were 2 weeks of my life that I ate here everyday. It's delicious. Get the Buffalo chicken, get the chicken alla vodka. Eat them and be happy. Everyone here is super nice also. Not crazy about spending $4 a slice on pizza, but their specialty slices are delicious and it's the Upper East Side. If you're on 1st ave…go there.
The Best is slowly gaining, possibly exceeding the Ultimate in the race for the grandest Pizza Slice in the 50's on First…
This pizza saved my life every night of GovBall weekend, so I have to give them five stars. I tried the Hawaiian pizza and the cheese pizza – both delish. I would probably recommend this place over Bella Roma down the street, although it's pretty tough to say.
The pizza here is decent. I cant honestly tell you if it is the best Pizza on first ave, but its passable. Staff is very friendly here and they make sure you have your order taken soon after you walk in. The place seems really busy which is a good thing with people constantly walking around me to get in/out. At the time I was ordering my pizza, the owner got into an argument with a beverage delivery guy and it was quite amusing and entertaining to watch while waiting for my food. I cant say the other patrons enjoyed the language being thrown back and forth as I did, but it did make it memorable and I have come back to have slices when I am in the area.
Where do I begin? I come from Detroit where the only pizza people eat/order is from Dominos. As an intern in the heart of Manhattan, NY pizza became something I grew to love. While browsing an online restaurant directory, I stumbled upon Best Pizza of 1st Avenue. The only reason I chose it was its close proximity to my apartment. First off, the man who took my order was extremely kind and explained literally every option available to me in terms of customizing my pie. The delivery was fast, and I was able to add tip on over the phone. I have also ordered pizza in-person and I was quite impressed with the establishment. Although it's small, it's clean and the smell is enough to draw a person in. My favorite part is that you really see how fresh the ingredients are and the diligence that goes into every pie, big or small. Which brings me to my next point, you can order a personal pie (white or whole wheat dough!) for delivery as well! Overall, when in New York, order from this place and when in Detroit, dream about it.
One of the many good pizza places around the spot where East Midtown meets Upper East Side. I understand that "Best Pizza on 1st Ave" is just a name, and it doesn't send my expectations soaring sky high. I am always pleased with my food at this place, and it is conveniently close to where I live. I particularly like the buffalo chicken roll. Other New York staples like piccata and cutlets are pretty good too.
With a name like, "Best Pizza on 1st Avenue," you better be good, right? I mean, talk about setting some high expectations. But, I suppose you couldn't say, "It's 'pretty darn good pizza' on 1st Avenue" or else who would actually eat at your joint.
Welp, the pizza is pretty darn tasty. The pepperoni was fantastic. Perfect, really. The combo slice, yuck. It was doughy, not cooked all the way through…like gummy pizza. *shudder*
I would definitely go back to this place…and order just two of the pepps.
