I have shunned the dollar slice for a long time now. I see all of these terrible $1 slice pizza closets in Midtown and they make me cringe.
Geezy B introduced this place to me, and I was pleasantly surprised. This isn't your 2 Bros or copy cat pizza that is light on the ingredients.
Since I would eat this pizza sober, I guess this is the best of the worst pizza. Forget the toppings.
If DiFara were closer, I would not look for substitutes.

One of the best dollar slices you can find in the area. Really fresh tasting and doesn't have the reheated taste some dollar slice places do.
Also getting a pie is a great deal $8 is hard to beat. Just watch out – the up charge on toppings is comically high. Stick with the cheese for the deals. Although the buffalo chicken is great too.
It's no NYC original slice. But hey, with the price your paying. I'm not complaining. They have varieties of flavors specially made each day. Bump a quarter or so and you got what you want. 1$ for regular slice. 2.75$ for 2 slices and a drink! So if your in a rush or just need a quick bite from your busy schedule. Stop on by for a slice or 2 !! They do delivery as well!
Not the best pizza or even the best dollar pizza, but if you're in the neighborhood and need a quick lunch or dinner, you won't find a better deal. Quality is mostly decent, request "extra crispy" for your slice(s) and sprinkle on a little salt to hide the relative blandness of the cheese. Dont bother getting toppings, one glance at the prepared pizzas behind the counter should make that obvious. No seating, but there's a counter and some space to hang out while you eat if you're not taking your pizza to go. Service is quick and friendly, even when a few of the patrons were kind of rude.
For what this place is, a $1 pizza place, it's great. If you want a slice of pizza for a dollar, Joey's is a good choice. It's not the best pizza this side of Italy, but it will hold you over until dinner at a nominal cost. $8 gets you a whole plain pie but they also have toppings for a buy, rolls and garlic knots. I've had better pizza, sure, but I don't think better $1 slices.
Noteworthy, Joey's outlasted the short-lived 2nd Avenue Grimaldi's. Joey's doesn't take credit cards or reservations, either ::wink::
Love this place! They have $1 cheese slices and cheese pies for $8. It's a great deal and the pizza is good. I think their slices are better than many similar places in the area (that charge $3-$5). Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick and cheap bite!
Dirt cheap, the greasiest pizza I've ever eaten. I ordered two pepperoni pizzas ($1 each) and a beef patty. I would stay away from the pizza and stick with the beef patties ($2), two if you're partially hungry and three if you wish to calm your hunger. Fast service, but you have to be in the mood for this, I would give it more of a 3.5 if I could since it's fast service and the empanadas are pretty tasty, but not crazy about the pizza.
"This is one d*mn good pizza" was my thought the whole way home as I walked and mused.
These $1 slice pizza places are all over the city, but always seem suspect: how could it be so cheap? Must be bleh. Nope. It was delicious. And cheap.
Slightly toasted on the crust, so u get a nice crunch on the bite…the NYC pizza crunch. Then there's the nice spices on the sauce/cheese: so subtle and simple…yet so noticeable. Maybe I'm delirious from shock that a decent pizza can be a buck…maybe I'm just blowing this review out of proportion. Whatever the case, I enjoyed it immensely and I think you would too.
