Pretty good tacos and gluten-free pizza! Very friendly, courteous staff. Very reasonable prices.
Been there two times, the first I try the burrito and it was pretty bad. The second I had two slices of pizza and it was a bit better.
I guess if you are super hungry need something quick and are on a budget this place could make sense
I had pasta which was OK, very basic and something I could easily make at home. But for 8-9 dollars I'm not complaining. The tacos were not the best, but acceptable, not enough sour cream. The menu is huge and I suspect they would need to take short cuts to be able to make all those dishes. It's a decent enough option if you happen to live on the island I suppose.
This is the second review I've written today where I'm basically the only person who hasn't had an issue with customer service while all the other reviewers have.
It makes me feel isolated.
I walked into this place with the partner in crime after we randomly took a ride on the Roosevelt Island tram (strange how I've never been to this little island in all the years I've lived here). Once I got over my fear of heights, I was rendered hungry, so we ordered two slices and relaxed.
No problems with service at all: order was taken, order was heated up, manager rang it up, and paid. No rudeness, just a "Do you want anything to drink? "No thank you" "Okay, enjoy!"
Pizza was pretty good, I liked the sauce and the toppings were fresh. The chicken on the pizza was better than that I've had in other joints around the city.
Notable thing: the bathroom was IMMACULATELY clean. I have never seen such a clean pizzeria bathroom in my life! Four stars for that!
Bonus also for the pizza being cheap: $2.50 regular slice, and $3.75 specialty slice. Can't complain, considering it's on an island where I was expecting some seriously jacked up prices.
We ordered one slice of white and one slice of white with ricotta with broccoli. After the additions of their topping the pizza was hot, fresh, and satisfying!
We also ordered the Cesear Salad, I would not consider it worth $7, the only reason for lacking 1 star.
I HIGHLY recommend the Coconut Chocolate Gelato for dessert! It's the owner's recommendation and it was sweet, icy, and little chunks of chocolate flecking the coconut ice! Perfect for summer! I will definitely be back next time we are on the Island!
If you're considering eating on Roosevelt Island, you pretty much have three choices – Riverwalk Bar & Grill, Fuji East, and Nonno's "Focacceria" (read: pizzeria). For a cheap/casual/quick bite, Nonno's is your best bet.
We stopped in for a snack after visiting the very nice Four Freedoms Park (yelp.com/biz/franklin-d-…)…Nonno's reminds me of off-campus college food. It screams pizzeria from the outside, but they have gyros, sandwiches, burgers, and a whole bunch of other random stuff on their menu too. We stuck to some white slices, and were pleased with the colossal slices we got for $2.50 apiece. The pizza was OK – nothing stellar, but definitely a generous portion size for the price. Service was friendly, and they brought our food over to our table when it was done…nice touch.
Would I return to Roosevelt Island…ever? Probably not. Hmmmm, not sure where I was going with that…
Tried the sicilian pizza here and the garlic knots. The pizza was too thick and the garlic knots were very good (although a little greasy that usual), so I have mixed reviews.
The place wasn't too crowded. They even had outdoor seating.
Cheap, bland food. Although the portion sizes are huge, they are not tasty at all. I tried the cheese pizza and the eggplant Parmesan sandwich. Both were completely unsatisfying. Although, there is outdoor seating and this is a great place to eat with kids – after eating the kids can run around on the grassy area next to the restaurant.
