Gino’s Pizzeria

“I've been living in Bayside all my life and whenever it comes down to ordering/eating pizza, Gino's has always been the way to go!”

“They are located a few blocks away from Cardozo high school, so this place gets pretty packed with teenagers during the weekdays.”

“The Mozzarella Sticks were lightly breaded with the right amount of seasoning (I tasted a hint of garlic, nom nom nom).”

  1. Ordered a mushroom and sausage pie.  The pie was a bit off..think too much sauce.  The cheese slide right off the pizza.  It was disappointing.

  2. Just came by for a quick slice. I always say this but secretly, I'm in search for a contending chicken Marsala slice. I saw that they had it, so what the heck!

When it was finished heating, it really looked like it had a chance of beating my favorite chicken Marsala slice at knapp st.  Crust looked crispy on the outside and I was sure of the fluffiness! Super cheesy, you can see the oils running down the cheese mounds and when I picked it up, it was pretty frikkin' heavy! I was extremely excited for that first bite, to say the least lol.

Took that first bite, dough was perfect,, cheese was rich and stringy, chicken was tender, but I've gotta tell you, I was a little disappointed.  I don't mean to sound like a snob but i feel it needed more Marsala, a lot more, the Marsala wasn't even subtle.  I do have to say, it was a perfectly cooked pizza!

Staff was okay. Lol they were just there.  I wish they were at least a little excited about serving pizza.  The guy cooking the pizza though, great stuff!

I'm definitely coming back to try other things!

  3. We ordered take out from Gino's which took a minute to get to us because they were swarmed with orders. Although we waited close to 45 minutes Gino's managed to deliver fresh, hot & great tasting food.

We ordered a Chicken Parmigiana Hero, Shrimp Parmigiana Hero & Mozzarella Sticks. Everything was piping hot that I almost burned the roof of my mouth numerous times due to starvation & being impatient.

My Chicken Parmigiana Hero had the perfect cheese to sauce ratio. Perfect combo of chicken cutlet & bread. Not too much breading on the cutlet which was greatly appreciated.

The Mozzarella Sticks were lightly breaded with the right amount of seasoning (I tasted a hint of garlic, nom nom nom). The Marinara Sauce was DELISH. It was thick, a little watery once it separated but still "da bomb"! It had a dash of oregano, fresh garlic cloves & nice diced up chunks of tomato.

  4. It's been more than 10 years since I last visited Gino's. It used to be the spot that I went to with friends for a slice or an affordable Italian meal.  I was happy to see that Gino's was still around and from the looks of it standing strong.  The interior got a modern make over and looks great….and the pizza?  Well it is delicious.  The crust is chewy, flavorful and just thin enough.  Covered with the perfect ratio of cheese and sauce, it's definitely pizza that I don't want to wait another 10 years to have again.

  5. Favorite neighborhood restaurant by far. We go almost every week. Our kids love the pizza, as they should. Best pizza, non brick oven, around. The veal sorrentino is one of my favorites. Recently I have been getting the veal chop. It is butterflied and pan fried then topped with tomatoes and basil. It is so big it falls off the plate. The side of spinach and potatoes are delicious. The spinach has just the right amount of garlic. If they have the Eggplant "meat" balls as a special, get them! I am a huge carnivore but love these. The staff is fantastic as well with Daniella being our regular. She always kids around with our twins and tells our son to "eat all of your pizza!"

  6. I've been coming to this pizza shop for many years. Every time I visit NY, I always make a stop for the pizza.

However, the girl who is working the counter today, September 4, made the most ignorant and racist comment  about how Asians all look the same because she couldn't recognize the customer who made the previous order.

It's 2015. That's not funny. It never was. You just sound stupid and uneducated. It's a shame that a place making some really good pizza has to hire employees like that who can't keep those thoughts to herself. Also, the pizza shop is located in bayside which has a large Asian community. If you can't recognize which order belongs to which person, this job just isn't right for you.

I hope that the owner/management does something to rectify this situation.

  7. After a day playing softball, nothing hit the spot more than a trip to Gino's for a good old fashion slice of pizza. Gino's pizza is the epitome of NY pizza. The one you remembered as a kid growing up playing pac-man or galaga arcade with a nice cold coke and a fresh piping hot slice.

You have to admit Manhattan has succumbed to more of the classy and fancy type pizzas where local mom and pop shops have closed. In its place you have the Two Bros, Grimaldi's, Patsy's, Artichoke etc… The pizza isn't the same.

Gino's bring back the old memories of classic NY pizza. It's salty, the tomato sauce is rich, the cheese is abundant stretching from your mouth to the flat crust. It's hot enough you can sear the roof of your mouth.

    I miss pizza like this.

  8. Randomly came here yesterday for a few slices. I had the buffalo chicken slice and my bf had the white cheese slice and spinach slice. My slice was awesome, I really liked it. I'm a punk when it comes to spicy food (I'm working on it!) and this was definitely not too spicy. The bf liked his slices as well. Our friends had a variety of slices and everyone really liked their food.

However, I wish their pizza was more on display. You see the slices about 6 feet away from the counter and have to squint your eyes to read the names. 1 star off because the guy making the slices was super rude to us. WTF? We gave them a lot of business (9 people) and he was just a jerk. The cashier was better than him, but not the best either. Another star off for both bathrooms having broken locks. It's not fun when you're paranoid someone will just barge in. It's just a doorknob lock — fix it!
